NBA GM Draft RD12

well if Norse takes JR Smith then I assume that means I'm up and ill take a guy who can play either guard position, is a spot up shooter and is one of the best defenders in the league. Patrick Beverley

My bad, the rosters weren't updated. Didn't see the Mavericks as your team. OOPS!

Triple checked and it looks like he's still available. Give me 14 points, 7 assists, 1.5 steals on 50% eFG and 38% from 3, a tough, veteran, versatile PG.

Jeff Teague

The list of names for each team has Jeff Teague on it.

The master list doesn't. I assumed the point of that was to keep track of who had been drafted, especially when the team list is divided up between who was taken in certain rounds and then another listing of who was taken in other rounds by the same team.

I'll pick when I get time to go through every team and see who's there.

That's @BigBlueFanGA baby that was abandoned. Round by round is fairly updated. Though making your last pick shouldn't be so cumbersome

Okay if this guy is taken just skip me and I'll play a man down or whatever. I need a steady veteran PG who can fill a role and knock down shots.

Per 36, this guy has career averages of like 16-4-4 on 40% from 3 and nearly 3 makes per game.

Give me Patty Mills.

To try and win basketball games and championships?
The team matters very little. I feel like my players are well enough to win plenty of 'ships. Plus playing in the Garden. I personally won't even look at what organization is picked when voting for teams.

Only 8 teams have won more titles than the knicks. I mean wasn't much left to pick from lol.

This was all that needed to be said LOL

I would think few things matter more than the organization when determining success over the next five years. Outside of the superstar players, it's coaches and GMs who determine the outcome of the league.

If I'm choosing between two teams and one of them is coached by Earl Watson and the other is coached by Red Auerbach, that matters. If one of them is run by Jerry Buss and the other by James Dolan, that matters.

Otherwise why did we draft them? For jerseys in a video game simulation?

The organization plays a bigger role than the 10th-12th man that's for sure. I also look at home court advantage, team success at home vs away, ability to lure FA/draft rookies successfully. Over the years, it's been obvious that some teams are on a linear decline down when it comes to team/money management.

You drafted them so you could have a coach and a team in 2k. GMs and front office don't really matter as we're assuming 5 year deals for all players.

This is the way I understood it too.

We drafted a coach/organization and all the things that came with it. Whether it's making good draft picks, good trades, managing egos, hiring staff, using analytics, etc., some organizations are clearly much better than others.

Same with the coaches.

It's pointless to have something be included in the actual draft but then not consider it, and given that the entire 2k simulation is only going to count for like 2-3 votes per matchup, that doesn't balance out either.

Except in this scenario there's no draft picks, FAs, trades, etc. Homecourt and Coaching/development are the primary benefits.

In order to make the custom rosters in 2K, a team had to be picked. That is These rosters are set for 5 years, no trades, hiring staff, analytics jargon will be used. I couldn't even tell you who the coach is for the Knicks, nor do I care really. The same players will be playing in a mock 5 year ordeal.

The original post says picking an organization is for 2K simulation anyways.

I will be performing 2k simulations. Injuries turned on. This will be done by each one of us picking an Organization as a pick in the draft. This will be your coach for intents and purposes but will also be location of play, home court advantage, etc. that 2k puts into the nuances of the game.

There's one team that I bet wins. I keep looking at it thinking, that's a bad ass team. I won't say it, but is anyone else eyeballing another team?
