I'll take the unlimited potential of Brandon Ingram.
I was debating between the two, you made choice for me.He really does have sky high potential. I was hoping to grab him after Holiday, but I knew that was a pipe dream. Very good choice sir.
@420grover back on clockI've gotta hit the bed. If dr makes his picks, I'll get mine as soon as I get up.
I was shocked melo fell as far as he did. I didn't want him on my team, but I thought he'd probably be a 3rd or 4th round pick. Dennis Schroeder was a good one though. I had forgotten about him.
See I didn't want him either because I don't like melo lol but even at 33, his style of play could give him 4-5 more good years in the league, especially coming off the bench for me. Couldn't find a better 6th man lol and it was too hard to pass up for me at this point. I have enough younger guys anywaySimilar to LeBron, Melo has never been a player who completely relies on athleticism. He's never been an incredible leaper from what I can tell, and uses crafty moves and a high release point on a great jumper to score. He's 33, so for the next 7 years it's tough to see where he'll be, but his game shouldn't have to evolve as he gets older. It's simply a matter of health and his willingness to keep going. It's a very good late pick that I'm shocked fell this low as well, despite me not wanting him.
Gossie said he couldn't pass up three straight seasons of 200+ threes.
He also said that because Duke was his favorite team of all time, that he couldn't believe the greatest player to ever live had slipped so far, but I think I was supposed to leave that part out. I dunno, you'll have to take it up with him when it's time to vote.
Anyway, Gossie selects Jonathan Clay Redick, G, Philadelphia 76ers.
Since we're in for a bit of lull here I will defend my name and my pick. First of all I didn't know JJ's name was Jonathan Clay. How do you get JJ out of that? Shouldn't it be JC? Maybe he's a junior so it's Jonathan Jr. Someone needs to get to the bottom of this.
Next, I'll not have my name associated with Duke fandom. They are a loathsome bunch over there and I have an unlimited supply of scorn for that program. The worst development in basketball over the last decade or more is the Duke-flop. It's become such an epidemic that I wish they would just remove the offensive foul from the rule book.
Nonetheless, JJ Redick is a specialist, he does one thing on an a level few in the NBA can match. He shoots 3s with a career average of 41.5% and has hit 200+ 3s in each of the last 3 years. His age is obviously a bit of a concern especially when we're looking at a 7 year stretch. So I anticipate we will have to manage his minutes on the tail end. It's not unprecedented for a SG to stay elite late into their career. Ray Allen put up a 37.5% season at the age of 39. John Stockton shot 36% at the age of 41. Steve Kerr shot 39% at age 39. Dale Ellis shot 43% at age 39. So we're just going to project JJ will have a similar career. Because why not.

You read the rules when you signed up for this. It's difficult having someone on night shift with all others on day shift, because it's one pick holding up all others. I feel for grover having to work the night shift, but could we not just give him a player to keep things going while most of us are on?
Doesn't mean you couldn't stay up 3 more minutes to make 2nd pick. It's fine

It was like 2 minutes after he picked. It's all good, let's carry onTo be fair, how did he know the next pick was going to be that soon? He didn't.
Klay hasn't hit less than 200 3s since his rookie season, and has never shot under 40% in his career. He was the other guy I was thinking about when the Klay as a top 3 three point shooter debate came up.
Hard to argue with Redick's production in recent years.
