MLB Draft Round 16 Last Round

Tragic thing the Cv19 taking away our baseball. And yes, I'm flipping the script with a current player, one who needed only 5 more homers to pass Mays for 5th on the all-time list, 11 more RBIs to pass Arod for 3rd on that list. Both of which he would have done by now. Not to mention, a full season would have positioned him 10th on the all-time hits list (currently 15th). The most productive bat in the history of first base (and probably all the infield) . . . Albert Pujols!

He became much more likable as an Angel :)

Good pick. He was on my short list.

He's actually one of my least favorite players ever. Nothing to do with him personally. Won't explain other than to say he hit a home run one time that left me in the fetal position. Damn thing may still be going for all I know. But his bat is undeniably incredible and his career consistency matched by only the greatest of sluggers. He should make +700 homers for his career (22 - 23 seasons), but with this season (should be his 20th), his current total at 656 homers . . . who knows?

But in a world series, and while we're considering these players at their prime? Pujols commands serious respect.

Nice pick. He was my backup if someone had picked Randy.. couldn't go wrong with either. But I couldn't pass up the Big Unit
Thanks. Seaver, Maddox, and Randy were my choice for pitcher with this pick. You made my choice easier. ;)

3 complete game wins in 1967 WS.
>10 Ks per 9 inns sustained over 81 total world series innings pitched!
28 complete games of 34 starts, 1968.
2 world series titles in 3 world series appearances.

for a seven game series this pick should have been higher. kudos imo. to me the best stat there is the 7 straight ws wins, all complete games. i do admire koufax’s stuff more and his strikeout numbers are ungodly and potential dominance (perfect games) unmatched, but gibson is in many ways an unequaled force on the field at his position. i was thinking strongly on taking him #3. obviously if it was a whole season(s) i would have gone the willie/mickey route.

assuming this hypothetical is a pressure ws atmosphere, as a way to account for clutch ability (i tend to think that’s how people will imagine it, or at lest they’ll take it into account) you got to like obtaining probably the best big game pitcher ever.

Appreciate it. Felt good about taking him. And since we're supposed to be considering these players in their prime, well . . . btw, with Koufax, lingering playing you will crazy not to pick if he's still available.

If pitchers keep dropping like this, I may be forced to take Rick Mahler at the 3/4 turn lol.
