Simmons is awesome.

Yea no debate... Ozzie is the king at SS on defense.

But Simmons is good as well in discussion for #2 which is still a great pick at this stage of the draft. Just don't compare him to the Wizard lol
Offense, defense, Ozzie swings a toothpick.

I’m gonna go with a guy who was one of the best sluggers of the steroid era but is not personally connected to using. He’s one of 10 players with 8 consecutive seasons of at least 30 HR & 100 RBI & the only player with at least 50 HR & 50 2B in the same season. He only played 10 full seasons & had to retire at 34 due to a degenerative hip but was amazingly productive in that time. His 162 game averages are .295 BA, 182 hits, 41 2B, 40 HR, 130 RBI, 103 runs scored & a .933 career OPS. He led the AL in total bases 3 times & was robbed of the ‘95 MVP bc he hated the media & it probably cost him more than just that one. I’ll take Albert Belle.

I am not in this contest, but as a voter I have to defend my man The Wizard. I've seen him play many many times. He played his St Louis years on the artificial turf where the ball travels through the infield faster. You play on the grass and the ball slows down. I understand Simmons is very good, but most lists conclude Ozzie was the best ever defensive player at any position. He did things that were unbelievable on a regular basis.
Ozzie Smith would be Simmons' back-up, plain and simple. Love Ozzie. But real is real.

For those who earlier wanted to gripe about players who got cheated out of an MVP, this is the guy to gripe about.

Man, I LOVED those 90s Indians teams! What a club! Loaded, from top to bottom.

Have you seen the documentary on MLBN about the 90s Indians? It’s worth the watch if you haven’t. I think it originally aired in 2017. Any time I think of those teams my first thought is Albert Belle nearly decapitating Fernando Vina with an elbow while breaking up a DP between 1st & 2nd. Lol. That’s one of the better offensive lineups we’ll ever see. I’m in no way an Indians fan but man, that team was fun to watch.

Maybe his offense would make that happen, but I replied to your statement on defense.
Yeah, dude . . . I read it . . . it began "I am not in this contest" and then you immediately offered a variety of contesting remarks to put yourself in it. Always an amusing disclaimer when someone says I'm not involved so do not challenge my involvement. lol !

Best pitching performance I've ever seen in person. Mussina pitching for Baltimore at Fenway. Mid 90s. He was putting the screws to the Sox while me and an old friend from Ft. Bragg put away beers with the locals on the mezzanine (standing room above home plate). Got hammered. Canseco won it for the Sox, walk-off homer extra innings.

I think it’s my turn, so I will go ahead and pick. Give me a guy who was not even on my radar until a few minutes ago when I stumbled onto his stats. In his prime, he was averaging 180+ hits, 20+ SB, batting average in the high 200s-low 300s, in addition to winning 4 Gold Gloves and an MVP. Dustin Pedroia.

@quest4#9 on the clock and @jcrow10 still has to pick
