MLB Draft Round 16 Last Round

I need some more power in my lineup & this guy is one of the most feared & productive hitters of all time. He was a HOFer & a 2 time MVP, becoming the first player to win the award at two positions (1B & LF) & led the AL in HR & RBI 4 times. His career hitting slash is .313/.412/.605 with an OPS of 1.017. He only played 10 full seasons, losing 4 years of his prime to service in WW2 & losing another cpl seasons to injury. But, he made the most of those years, AVERAGING 38 HR, 148 RBI, 44 2B, 122 runs & 99 BB/162 game season. He was also very good in the post season, leading Detroit to 4 WS & winning 2 titles. I’ll take Hank Greenberg.

Great pick. I almost took him last turn and was going to take him this turn. Looks like I waited too long.

Same here & I was on edge ever since my last pick, worried he wasn’t making it back to me, lol. Honestly, the last 3 rounds I’ve been shocked he was still available, especially since he’s eligible in LF as well as 1B.

I thought about him too. Went with Ortiz at first instead, but the guy had 600 homers. To go this late was pretty crazy.
I’d go Ortiz over him due to his batting average and World Series domination, but Thome isn’t too far from him. Ortiz was an absolute steal as well for where you got him. Kind of makes me regret taking Frank Thomas so early with players of their caliber going this late, but I just could not pass up a prime Frank to hit behind Barry

I guess my confusion is continuing today. I thought we weren't doing DH's which is about all both of them are good for.

They did, but, in fantasy baseball you can only pick them as DH's I believe.
This isn’t a standard fantasy baseball league though. I don’t think we should make great players completely ineligible when they are perfectly capable of paying a position that they’ve played before. Ortiz was primarily a DH, but he played over 2100 innings at 1st base with a .990 fielding percentage. Thome actually played MORE time at first than he did as a DH.

lol I would say a good rule of thumb is try and pick a player who played a significant amount of games at 1 position. Trying to sell (blank) as a 1st basemen with only 80 games played there is silly.

You don’t know how hard I have contemplated drafting a former DH that played a season or two at 3B and was one of the best hitters of my childhood lol

Todd Helton once batted 500 over an entire month. I'm using that version in our World Series.

"Helton opened the year with a 10-game hitting streak, kicked off May 10 with the first of two career three-homer games, and finished the month hitting .512/.588/1.000 with 11 homers in 102 PA."

This is not a rabbit hole I think we want to go down as far as specificity lol.

Because I've got a lot of no hitters on my staff.

Well since the guy I was hoping would last like 20 picks, Jim Thome, got taken two picks before me, I'll take a similar player in Rafael Palmeiro. My team clearly does not care about cheating via chemicals applied to the ball or injected into their bodies.
Many have juiced, several have denied, a few of them formally. But Palmeiro raised the bar the highest. And when he sat there all smug, shook his finger at the sovereign US Congress and lied, I was ready to ship his ass back to Castro.

Dude could hit though.
