MLB Draft Round 16 Last Round

It wouldnt have bothered me t all[laughing] I didnt want to be the guy holding things up, especially after two whiffs. Thats why I thought on it in the shower before work and hopped back on. Keep the train rolling.

Ill point out though, as promised, its 6. So I wouldve been on here as I had said. Anyway, good to know about that search feature.

Im 36, Im not even some old timer. I dont even have an excuse for misreading like poor vision! [roll]
HEY!!! What do you have against old timers? I recently began my second half-century and am a little sensitive.

Probably my favorite catch. It’s the Willie Mays catch on steroids. The degree of difficulty is off the charts. I liked Gary Matthews Jr’s catch a lot too. But, Edmonds seemingly made plays like this nightly.
he was in that weird angels era where they had the tacky uniforms and before they renovated angles stadium etc and became a regular playoff team. he missed their glory years and although he was on a winner in stl, i think his era with the angels underrates him a bit historically. he was pretty awesome.

Heck yeah he was. Maybe the most entertaining CF I’ve seen & could give you 30-40 HR & 100 RBI. Seems like he was always dinged up & battling an injury but the way he sacrificed his body it’s amazing he wasn’t hurt even more. Very good player who is just outside the fringe, numbers wise anyway, for HOF consideration. A cpl more full seasons & he’d be in, IMO. With his glove I think 2200 hits & 400 HR would’ve been enough.

Wow. I’m or surprised this guy is still available. I always liked the guy. He hit 30+ homers, had 100+ RBI’s, and was an all star 10 times each. He was top 5 in MVP voting 5 years in a row from 2003-2007. His 541 total home runs are good for 17th all time and his 1768 RBI’s are 21st. And yet 120 picks in, here he is.

Gimme Big Papi, David Ortiz.

And for my next pick, I’m gonna be weird and go ahead & take my closer since I think a few are gonna start going and my guy is still here; the last reliever to win the MVP award; Dennis Eckersley.

Nice pick. Eck wasn’t making it past me. He’s the #1 reliever according to WAR & much more valuable than a traditional closer in this format bc he can give you long relief which is needed with a 4 man staff in a 7 game series. He had a 5 year stretch in Oakland when he was pretty much untouchable.

he was on the list but there’s a trade off that kept things static for me. fielding. he’s got 2000+ innings at first base over that career but that’s not very much. has a decent fielding % too but you had to know that’s what’s up. i would have taken him next but i would have had to argue this as well.

I did consider that. I mean most of his time was at DH. But honestly, first base is pretty much the least important infield position to be a good fielder. They don’t have to cover anywhere near the ground that the 2nd baseman or shortstop do, or usually the 3rd baseman either, unless the batter is a leftie. If he can catch it when they throw to him, I think he’ll be perfectly fine for a 7-game series.

You should read about Carlos Beltran's experience, when the Yankees tried him out at 1st base. He speaks of it as a nightmare. Completely unable to adapt to the speed of the game 90-100 ft. from where the ball takes off. Not to mention the throwing speed that some infielders have been clocked at. Carlos Correa has been clocked in the mid 90s turning double plays. By the time he lets go of it he's more than 10 feet past 2nd. Do you want to catch something like that?

Question: is anyone aware of a website where you can look up a player’s stats against a certain pitcher over his career? I swear I found one a couple days ago and for the life of me I cannot find it again. It could be quite useful when making arguments when voting :)

Well, I was going to round out my starting staff but I see we're about to go on a run for closers. Ill take Trevor Hoffman por favor. 1st pitcher to reach 600 saves ever, and is 2nd all time. I feel like thats a dude you want on the mound in the postseason holding your lead.

Sorry guys, rough morning. If I'm 1 hour late you guys can go past me. I'll pick in a minute.

Yep. I think we all agree on that. If we had money riding on this that might be different but this is all in good fun.

Overnight would be the one exception I think. I work 2nd shift so I dont even get off until 12:30am. So putting someone on the clock at 2am and they havent checked in by 6 or 7am....OK, thats not reasonable lol
