The gas prices we have now are on decisions made by this administration irrespective of the events in Russia ($3.40/gallon here). We we exporting energy before the Biden energy decisions. Now, we are again dependent on others. When we reach $5/gallon, the difference will be on Putin, Biden, and us, if we agree with harsh sanctions. The idea of dropping the gas tax can help consumers in the short term, but, as I understand that tax, it goes to DOT for infrastructure, so we suffer or pay for that one way or another. That increase in cost will roll over to everything in the market. Buckle up.
So, the question is, how will we know if sanctions worked? Must Putin withdraw (after forcing fuel prices through the ceiling)? Will it be a success if Putin just gets a couple of land grabs? What is the objective?
We know from the past that the left is fine with $5-6 gas. So, that will return us to one objective they have sought over the decades. I just want to know how we assess success?
Putin has his gas hike. What else does he get for us to still be deemed successful?

The basketball team is a legit national contender, the football season was awesome and I think Stoops has us headed to the promised land even with the Coen setback, Mingione is iffy at this point, gonna have to see results before I trust he's the guy.
None of those take away the fact that the current admin has done nothing that helps the US citizen. Or that it's current ineptitude has led us to this point where Russia can take a portion of Ukraine, and possibly all of it.
