Russia - Ukraine WAR Warning: Political Discussions

I’d like to all Russians starve and suffer for the foreseeable future. Make ‘em drink their oil. I’d sleep like a baby knowing those kids and women are hungry.
A Russian travel guy I keep up with said that he knows no person who supports this AT ALL. He admits there are supporters but they are few. He also asked for people to consider the situation of the average Russian: they live in a dictatorship that silences its opposition.

I’m having a hard time seeing the news from today. I can’t believe they’re bombing and shelling civilians like this.

Biden acts like we are standing with Ukraine. We are doing ziltch for Ukraine rather we are trying to go to war with russia. Pelosi and her American flag Ukrainian flag pin. What a joke. If we stand with Ukraine then arm them to the teeth, impose a no fly zone do more. Instead it’s personal between Putin and biden. Ukraine is being used folks and has been for a long time.

wonder if they will wear the Taiwan flag pin?

So glad Joe is buying our needed fuel from Ukraine

You all realize we are trying to keep from getting into WWIII? This ish is apocalyptic. Would be super easy for it to turn into a nuclear holocaust. Putin is more savage than every Soviet, I mean Russian, leader, since Khruschev.

This isn’t “the U.S. must still show it’s the boss;” they know we’re the boss, and they’re saying if we intervene, it could be bad. Same terms and conditions that were in place during the Cold War.

They did things 100x worse in Syria and Chechnya. Straight up carpet bombed entire cities with cluster bombs and vacuum bombs. It looked like putin was following a less genocidal plan up until the entire world was laughing at how pathetic his army was performing. Now he gives no ****s again and has given the go ahead to do whatever it takes to make them surrender.

My dream is one day 95% of Americans will realize we don’t need to get involved in every foreign conflict around the world. We might even find doing this, creates less conflict around the world. We aren’t the world’s police. We’re closer to the world’s bully than the shining city upon the hill.

Quite a few people in this thread seem to think America caused this conflict, let alone be able to stay out of it.

As an honest answer from my perspective, any conflict with Russia is going to necessitate US involvement. Our NDS begins and ends with defending ourselves from Russia and China. And I would guess whatever strategy Russia and China have begins and ends with destroying America.

I’m not sure we caused it, but we had a hand in it in my opinion. I don’t think this happens if America and European nations don’t support the overthrow in Ukraine.

I disagree with your idea that Russia’s number 1 goal is destroying America. Maybe it is, but I don’t see it that way. Are they noble actors? No, of course not, but I don’t think they want to take us down.

I think American involvement is surely to escalate this into a much bigger conflict than it already is. I’m not interested in America fighting another war. We’ve got to stop getting involved in every foreign conflict across the globe. I’m of the opinion, that doing that only creates more conflict and causes more American soldiers to die.

Avoiding ww3 is how you bring ww3 to be. Putin has run circles around the USA and is in this position bc of bush Obama appeasement. Isolating Putin and Russia got a standing ovation but that’s the worst thing that can happen. Ruin the Russian economy but want to avoid ww3? That’s a contradiction. We have spineless leaders who don’t know what to do bc they led from behind. Biden and Europe watched this build up and waited to react instead of lead.

I will agree that maybe Russia’s number one goal isn’t necessarily to take down America, but maybe moreso to overcome western influence and grow their influence. That, of course, links their goals to weakening America. I agree with your last paragraph. We should, by no means, involve the movement of troops into Ukraine or in conflict between these countries. That said, if Putin gets wacky enough to attack Poland, Lithuania, Latvia or Estonian, then we will get involved.

maybe Biden and Obama shouldn’t have caused it
Lol. Dude, it’s embarrassing. Trump sucks and is a traitor. One day it’s going to be so blatant that you won’t be able to deny it anymore.
Yeah, Obama sucked, in some regards, but he wasn’t a traitor. Trump is. You’ll see. May take another couple of years, but it’ll all come out.

I agree if Russia invades those countries, the US will certainly get involved. Whether or not that would be a good thing is a Khmer debate. Either way in that scenario, nothing good happens.

You will have to unpack this for me to take it seriously. The EU and the world are accepting your greatest asset, energy. The more the world becomes reliant upon your natural resources, the more economic influence you have, the more you can grow your economy and diversify your exports. It’s the imperialist mindset that thwarts advancing the strengths of your country and people. No NATO country desires to invade Russia. It has half the nukes in the world. This is a pro Putin anti-Russia move. This is only necessary if you desire to continue to be the aggressor toward the West.

Actions are wayyy different then stated intentions. The rhetoric of Muh Russia the last 4 years shirley had to make Russia feel like they were being thrown under a bus. Nato saying they wouldn't expand past Germany and then expanding past Germany. State dept overthrowing the Pro Russia president and putting in a Pro EU president all while actively recruiting Ukraine into Nato.

There is a reason people know you don't back a dangerous person into a corner unless you plan to fight.... We have been pushing Russia to isolation since the USSr broke up. Putin asked Pres Clinton about joining nato and we told him no in a very forceful manner. Russia hates China and actually signed a defense pact with them. Russia is scared of whats coming because everyone knows actions speak louder than words.

Why expand nato to russias border? He litter ali said he'd attack Ukraine if they tried to join nato.

Thank you! Yes... Talking to people about this and you're one of the first to be bringing up the things that had been bothering me. Almost everyone else had just been listening to the news and regurgitating talking points. I thought it would be different here, and appreciate your post.

Do you have a link to the interview with the general? Or the general's name by any chance? I stay away from the US news so I can keep my head clear about things until there's real info to be had.
I'll look but it was on fox with Janice Griffin and she lost her shit to defend the narrative. LOl.

My stance on this has also changed considerably over past week. I am not okay with our response. I don't think we are showing enough leadership in the area of negotiations and we are not leading the world out of conflict. We seem to have forgotten that our goal was de-escalation. I also think Europe's militarization, while at first refreshing, actually further jeopardizes the goal of de-escalation.

I do not want to say I don't care what happens in Ukraine or what happens to the Ukrainian people. I do. However, a deal has to be made or I fear NATO ends up in world war.
It's like a family that always fights. You are gonna regret getting involved because both sides will end up hating you for different reasons. I agree that we should of been doing what we could, Make Real Commitment that NATO Will Not Recruit Anymore Members, to end this crisis.

Lot of clueless experts in this thread
These people? They know everything trust them. To hear them talk each one of them knows more about immunogy, foreign policy, economics, etc than most any expert who has spent their entire life working in these fields. How do they know such things? Because they have anonymous friends on the internet who tell them everything they need to know.

They couldn't build a wooden box by watching a YouTube video, but if they watch 3 or 4 of them they can tell you more about Covid than your family Dr.

They can't manage their family's finances but they definitely have 100% of the answers on how the world's economy should work.

They still fight over stupid $hit with their brothers and sisters at Thanksgiving, but they know how to solve all of the international conflicts between nations across the globe.

You should be glad they are around, but you probably already know that since they will tell you over and over again how smart they are and how dumb everyone else is.

So you are predicting in about 2 years we will get another Steele dossier from the Dems? That sounds about right.

This raises a lot of questions.

Why would NATO let Russia join NATO? We see what a joke the UN Security Counsel has become because of the veto power of corrupt governments. Why do you think Putin asked a question to which he knew the answer? Why let a “dangerous” KGB despot into NATO?

Why do other countries want to join NATO? Is it, in part, because they fear Russia?

And, regardless of what you wrote, what NATO country had designs on invading Russia? Heck, what sanctions were in place against Russia before it invaded another sovereignty? How many NATO countries were reliant on Russia energy? How many freely traded with Russia?

How is it that you are blaming others for Russia’s words and actions?
