Finland’s ambassador to the U.S. boasted about his country’s strong military and said he didn’t see an "immediate threat" after a Russian official suggested military action if the Nordic nation were to join NATO.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Finland and Sweden would "face some military and political consequences" if they joined.

"We are not in a position that we will get scared because of one statement," Ambassador Mikko Hautala told Fox News. "We have one of the best armies in Europe."
Not surprised by this statement. Scandinavia would just assume to stay out of it

We look at sanctions like they are harmless and won’t lead to repercussions but they are also what led to the Japanese attacking Pearl Harbor. They aren’t a get out of jail free card

Wish we had a president like him. Would argue we haven’t had one with that much will power since Kennedy. Reagan was great as well just don’t know if at his age he could have done it like Zelensky is now. But Kennedy’s handling of the Cuban missile crisis will always leave me wondering what the world would look like today had he not been murdered.

Zelensky is the living embodiment of those legendary stories of allied leaders during WW2
In today's American political climate...Kennedy would most likely be considered a Republican!

Whether one agrees with the report that Russian casualties are already 3500 there’s no doubt they are behind on their war goal. Kyiv was supposed to have fallen in the first 24 hours and here we are almost 72 hours later and it’s still standing. This will be Putins Afghanistan x10 imo. He may win the battle but the war will never end for the Ukrainians.
I am really sorry, Wish it was 35,000

ABC News :

The White House announced further sanctions on Russia Saturday evening.

The U.S., along with the European Commission, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and Canada, are disconnecting some Russian banks from the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) banking network and are “imposing restrictive measures that will prevent the Russian Central Bank from deploying its international reserves in ways that undermine the impact of our sanctions," the White House said.

“This will ensure that these banks are disconnected from the international financial system and harm their ability to operate globally,”

The White House added, "We commit to taking measures to limit the sale of citizenship -- so called golden passports -- that let wealthy Russians connected to the Russian government become citizens of our countries and gain access to our financial systems."

The U.S. will also launch a trans-Atlantic task force “that will ensure the effective implementation of our financial sanctions by identifying and freezing the assets of sanctioned individuals and companies that exist within our jurisdictions.”

The Biden administration said it's also upping the fight against disinformation and “other forms of hybrid warfare.”

Reports coming out that Ukraine destroyed all train tracks coming into country from Russia. Reports say Russians plans utilizes rail support for troop support.
Exactly same strategy as WW2 Wehrmacht during Operation Barbarosa push into former-USSR. Good for Ukraine. Mess all Ivan's plans up.

One thing that I haven’t seen today that is different than past days is videos of actual Russians. Seen lots of videos of fire and destruction, but no actual troops.

probably because twitter doesn't allow videos of dead bodies. would you like to see blown up legs, and bodies littered with bullet holes?

“A senior U.S. official told ABC News they've heard a Russian soldier on a radio call saying, “We don’t know who to shoot -- they all look like us.”

The official also said some Russian forces are disoriented, realizing the battles against Ukrainians are harder than they thought.”

No, I just thought it was odd that in the last few days we’ve seen videos of Russian vehicles and troops moving in Ukraine.

It could be because civilians are in hiding, it could mean the Russians are gone, or it could mean the Ukrainians are not faring as well as we’re being told.

I was hoping someone would post some info on here.

I hope the casualties to both sides are minimal and that these strategic bombings end soon. It's a really strange strategy, if this IS an invasion, to do things the way Rusia has been doing things. Makes no sense as it is right now

"Old man" Reagan was younger when he left office than Biden was when he entered office. Reagan was suspected/accused of early senility before he left office. Biden is suspected by a lot of people of early senility with nearly three years left in office.

Reagan was indeed slipping mentally by the time he left office. That said, he was still mentally sharper than Joe is right now…. That’s my opinion anyway.

Get over fear-mongering about nuke power with "safe till it's not safe". Didn't know about the RI guy nearly 50 years ago. Thanks. And you go on about batteries when their raw materials' supply is in question also. I don't about plutonium supply, but I'd doubt it's unlimited also.
Facts are just that. Facts.

Although the US has had 56 accidents and 99 worldwide, I'm actually a proponent of nuclear. Why? Because it can be done safely.

But deaths from radiation are years in the making. Many from thyroid cancer.

I hope that Russia suffers maximum casualties so as to deter future aggression. I am on Ukraine side. That is what kind of person I am.

No sht. I'm not surprised you don't value human life unless it agrees with your politics. It wasn't a revelation to see your post. I just stated a fact. The Russian soldiers are just following orders. Only ignorant fks think they are "bad guys" and "deserving of death" simply because the news tells you they are.

You know nothing about this conflict right now except what the media has told you and yet you hope 35k people die. You're part of the problem and have no clue. Congrats

You can speak for yourself as to what kind of person you are.

You are confused.. I have (and will) never ask your permission.

If this is an invasion or not, I don't want it to linger. Civilians will also die the longer this continues. My hope is that it is just a statement by Russia and that it ends with specific corporate targets being taken out rather than it being an invasion. As it stands, doesn't look like a well-planned invasion, and I doubt Russia would be this haphazard in planning or execution of one.

This seems more like someone focused on taking out perceived threats within Ukraine and keeping casualties and collateral damage to a minimum. Guess we'll find out down the road a pace.

This is most definitely an invasion. However, it’s unscriptable due to many errors/reservations on the part of Russia leaders.
