Neither does Europe. Qooks beat the anti-war, nationalist drum since 2015. But every time Biden ends a war or doesn't take the war bait, they get pissed.

In addition, you guys are cheerleading Russian imperialists doing exactly what you're against! Again, you can't make this shit up.
Let the Russians bog down in a quagmire.

Someone want to explain this German Russian energy pipeline? What’s going on there?

Russia supplies 30% of Europe's gas. The new pipeline will allow Russia to deliver more gas cheaper than any other country. This further increases Europe's dependency on Russia. The flipside is that in terms of price, it's a better deal than any other country can offer and cheaper gas means a stronger economy.

There is added complexity to this issue in places like Germany where there is a movement away from Nuclear Power. This makes them even more dependent on natural gas. France is dealing with this by building more nuclear power plants to reduce dependence.

You hear mentions getting brought back up of Russian soldiers low morale.

Any former military in here have any thoughts on that? Think it could make any significant impact on such a large scope operation like this?

I would find it impossible to believe that Russian troops are exhibiting low morale right now

Just the opposite actually - they’re being showcased to the world
And they’re cast in the role of the righteous sovereign territorial defenders

All at a moment in history where the shadow of America’s super power might has faded to the point of no longer being recognizable

I’ve known and worked with more Ukrainians than Russians but i think they’d also emphasize that the Ukrainian forces / leaders Russia is targeting — doesn’t represent their traditional slavic cousins

The Ukraine and associated power structure they’re demilitarizing is an aberrant unnatural thing with foreign ideals and artificially placed leaders — and the corrupted, CIA infested, human trafficking friendly space that festered there for years —— is past due for a torching and eradication

Chill on the RT news my man.

Other than war, is there anything to stop the Russian invasion? Or is it a full go at this point with no turning back?

Commonly accepted that sanctions won't work and won't slow Russia down. But reality is that they do not have a strong economy, their currency is currently in freefall, and sanctions will further tighten that noose. It won't happen instantaneously, but they can only fund a standing military so long.

I have a lot of compassion for those suffering. I’m also very aware our current administration played a large role in how this is playing out. The Dems provoked and cheered for this, and now it’s here.

So again, congrats Dems, you got the war you so desperately wanted, and now many will die. You think this will increase your chances of winning an election, so it’s all worth it I guess right…?
I feel this is years of Failed diplomacy with Russia. Obama didn't take them serious and Mitt Romney did. Clinton ignored them and Bush was preoccupied with sending us into forever wars. After the fall of the USSR many felt that Russia would just fall back behind the curtains. Which has never been the case for any empire that has fallen in Modern Times. Same mistake people made with Germany after WW1

It is this situation that makes all of this more perplexing. Russia had actually improved ties with most of the European nations over the last few years. They were about to reap a massive financial windfall when this new pipeline opened. Germany and several other EU members would have never allowed the Ukraine into Nato and most of them would have probably turned a blind eye if Russia decided to "hold elections" in the Dombas region, similar to what we saw in Crimea.

I am starting to wonder if Putin has actually had some kind of mental break and is sliding into some level of paranoia. It doesn't appear anyone wanted this war, but here we are.

They are also in a food shortage while Putin's grip on the people begins to loosen. I believe he feels this is his last shot at restoring the Russian Empire. From his speech he made pre-war he seems much more interested in being a Tsar than being the next Stalin (Yet he acts just like Stalin did)

Chill on the RT news my man.

I DO include RT & Sputnik in my news matrix -

But i was just trying to lay things out the way i believe many Russian minds would see it

Watching NATO closely the next few days and hoping they do not stage a counterattack

I don’t understand the macro-economic angle well enough to know whether or not new sanctions and other actions taken by several nations could possibly cause an economic collapse within Russia —

Could the.other major powers orchestrate a crash of their Ruble?
Possibly disrupt other economic devices held by Russia?
Maybe provoke bank runs or runaway hyperinflation?

I am not sure of that at all - the triggers and mechanics are too vague to me

BUT - i suspect economic type countermeasures and retaliation is expected

Ukraine has extremely rich and complementary mineral resources in high concentrations and close proximity to each other. The country has abundant reserves of coal, iron ore, natural gas, manganese, salt, oil, graphite, sulfur, kaolin, titanium, nickel, magnesium, timber, and mercury.

It doesn't seem like Putin really cares about the sanctions. They have been placed on him and his country before but he keeps doing what he wants to do. Other than some sort of combined military action (which I really don't want a war) I don't know what the best option is.

It's in the name and yet they still can't figure it out.
It is par for today that fascists would claim their atrocities are against fascism.

The only anti-American entities that made any headway during the Trump administration were far left domestic terrorists, domestic communists and far left Dems, and the media elite. Maybe he was their lapdog.

What in the the holy living hell are you on about?

Jesus, just when I get the idea you’re maybe a sane, normal person.

We just literally had a right wing nut job walk into a candle light vigil in Portland, scream that he was defending America and shoot four people killing an old lady.

I mean, he might not care, but unpredictable shit happens in conflicts like this. Could he have predicted the Ruble freefalling? Did he calculate that Germany would walk way from Nord Stream II? I really don't know. But it should be pointed out that Russia's GDP is less than Canada's.

Not exactly but I also think he only has one goal and that's to bring back the Soviet Union and the rest be damned. Even if his own people face severe consequences from his actions. The only thing I do know is I have absolutely zero faith in this administration to handle it adequately.

I don't get caught up in the administration politics. I think the US State Dept. has been out front here. There's a whole lot of people in State Dept. who are experts in Russian politics and strategy. I don't think for a second that Biden is sitting around the Oval Office making all the decisions. Might be managing them.

Link? Hadn't heard this story, so looked it up - didnt see anything about political affiliation or defending America. Has more come out?

"The shooting, which occurred at the start of a protest, appeared to be “a confrontation between armed protesters and an armed homeowner,” Lt. Nathan Sheppard said by phone on Sunday. “That’s what the preliminary investigation is indicating.”

MOC, don’t go edit your posts and expect me to see the edits. Are you claiming that right wing nuts gained a foothold during the Trump administration? While I don’t think your one-off anecdote says much, I certainly am willing to concede that point, if that was your point.

Portland has a long history of right wing and left wing nuts doing crazy things. But, when the left wing nuts are accepted and have their day, the right wing nuts will likewise respond. And, vice versa.

Yeah a lot. I’ve read several social media posts by people who were there. I’ll see if I can dig them up.

The guy was pushed to extremism and was being fed that there was a violent Antifa March going to happen in his neighborhood. He came out of his house screaming and shooting at some of the old ladies directing traffic. He didn’t stop shooting until a legally armed protester confronted him with his gun.

It’s also come out that he rented the home. Not owned it. He was also apparently a Furry. Just a weird, alienated dude pushed to extremism.
I’ll try to find the links later tonight.
