Frankly, given their losses in Ukraine, they look less likely to threaten the Balkans, especially if sufficient forces are kept there to defend against them.

Russian units haven’t fought an actual military engagements since their entry into the Syrian / Levant region conflicts ......prior to that it was the USSRs invasion of Afghanistan
So that has to be factoring in
I wonder how their flag officers are doing with reality vs their strategy and estimated results
the move to include chechen mercs was probably for psychological warfare purposes .....but it doesn’t appear they’ve had any real impact in this one ......
Exactly, our military is not ready, nor should they be sent into this mess. This should be between the Ukrainians, Russia and the surrounding area. Too add to that, there are a lot more Nazi's living in Ukraine than people think. This is a fight between two bad elements, and we should not get involved.
This is a red flag for me in all of this. I have seen a few videos lately (one in particular) of Ukrainian's giving the Nazi salute. Some say just a small region but, there are a lot of sympathizers in there as well. One football (soccer) match had almost the entire crowd hailing Naziism and giving the salute.
Again, we need to stay out of that mess.
Well and quotes from the head of our military, Gen Mattis, saying "we have no proof they did it"... If you pick one thing and leave out all the pertaining info then it seems like just nit picking to fit a narrative.
Your analogy here appears to be that if the guy is big enough or has the potential to do great harm then by all accounts they make their own rules and if anyone tries to stop them then that party is responsible for whatever harm comes about. Do I have that right?
You don’t believe diplomacy has been tried? Isn’t diplomacy like dancing the tango, takes two? When their tanks rolled over the border didn’t signal their interest in a diplomatic solution?
IMHO the question that needs to be asked is whether or not you believe that Ukraine needs to be sacrificed in order to placate Russia?
How far into the reassembly of the USSR do we allow Russia to go until we take a stand?
Having lived in another culture for several years (not Ukraine) and even within our own culture I’ve figured out that churches aren’t always the sanctified entities we like to think of them being. We see that here with how evangelicals have wrapped themselves around the GOP. I’ve been attending church for all of 62+ years and never once has anyone in a pulpit where I’ve attended uttered the least bit of political preference. The church has stated official positions on matters that become political but you will need to go looking for those positions in publications as they won’t be preached. Which begs the question how many evangelical churches retain their 501(c)(3) status that forbids political activity???

When does a “church” cross the line and become fair game? Does preaching the gospel on Sunday give them carte blanche to do anything Monday-Saturday? Is the church being used or are people using the church as cover?

We can agree on this completely. Churches moreover preachers, pasters, fathers, reverends, or whatever you chose to call them need only teach the word of God. They need not add to nor take away and then, allow their "flock" make their own decisions.

I don’t know if Russia has the missile or not, but the missile remnants being shown in the pictures is not the one that hit the train station or even detonated. A missile traveling at thousands of feet per second with a bomb that explodes on impact isn’t going to look like that after impact and detonation.
That in and of itself should be a red flag to the story.
It’s a great argument. NATO has outlived its usefulness. The idea that Russia is going to try and take over Europe is absurd. Gotta keep that MIC in business though.
The rest of the former Soviet states in Eastern Europe have treaty ties with us. That would be when war happens.
Sacrifice is a terrible term but simple math should make clear what the proper course of action should be.

You know, a lot of history and border-shifting happens over the course 1200-1300 years. Hell, that was even before the concept of anything resembling a modern nation state existed. Let's see, the homelands of the Bulgars and Magyars (Hungarians) are in Ural Mountain area and the surrounding steppes. So, for example, if Bulgaria and Hungary were much larger and stronger, by your reasoning they'd have a right to intervene or invade Russia if there were some sort of political dispute with a remnant ethnic population in that region. That's essentially what you're saying. Or, maybe Brazil should take over Portugal and then seek to press Portugal's past irredentist claims against Spanish territory? Or even maybe the best example, there are a bunch of ethnic Mongolic people in Russia, so Mongolia should totally invade to protect their far-distantly removed historical interests.
Perhaps the USA should finish what they started in the War of 1812 and invade and conquer Canada? They were also populated by mostly colonial Brits like the the USA at the time, so that gives us a claim for sure! (Hmm, I'd actually be fully in favor of this. We can call it Operation Leafblower. Would love to see that smarmy poofer Justin Trudeau booted the eff out. 😁)
