If illegal immigration is your number 1 issue, I don't know what to say. I mean, other than all of the statistics showing a decline/stabilization of the illegal population, the decline of Mexicans within that group, and the fact that they participate in the labor force at roughly equivalent to their overall percentage of the population.

If you think illegal immigration is a problem, fine. Won't argue with that. If it is your number 1, end all and be all, issue then you are disconnected from reality or walk around in a giant confirmation bias bubble.

Illegal immigration isn't the problem. It's the fact we put the illegals on so many handouts that kills us.

If they were all self sufficient, it would be a minor issue. But they're far from it.

Okay, I'm getting slammed at work and will be for the next few days, but hopefully this is like throwing a hand grenade in a small room. I've read good things (read: I saw like two articles while walking my dog) about minimum income plans. Basically, instead of complicated antipoverty plans (food stamps, WIC, Obamaphones, housing subsidies, EIC, etc...), the government just gives cash money to people - basic minimum income. Assume for purposes of discussion that the exact same amount of money is spent (don't fight the hypo, Willy). Thoughts?

Pros: more efficient (more goes to people not program administration), more honest, treats everyone the same
Cons: more appealing to the purely lazy as it lowers the barriers to entry, seems repulsive on first thought, treats everyone the same whether they deserve it or not, lol cash in 2016?

If (if) I were emperor and implemented this, I would use traceable debit cards. You want free money? I want to track every one of your spending moves, then sell that information to advertisers.

I wonder how it sits with the Religious Right knowing that we're definitely gonna have a pro-choice POTUS for another four years...

Don't care. I'm obviously against it but it's not my concern not is it worth fighting over. It's a constant trap that consevatives get suckered into time and time again with Libs who just want to run on social issues by dividing everyone.

Also, there is no candidate that anyone should 100 percent agree with as that has never happened for me.

I've been consistent on here with my main concern: illegal immigration. That's what I care about. That's what I want to stop. Trump was the only one to have the balls to bring it up and if we can actually start doing something about it, the economical burden will ease up.

Seriously that's pretty much it for me.

I'm disconnected from reality yet I'm surrounded by it every day in Southern California? [laughing]

Any stat that claims Mexicans are putting back in the system more than they're taking back or claims they're not coming over here more than leaving (How the eff is this stat properly accessed considering they claim to not even know how many there are?) is total BS! They cost us billions every year, they reproduce like crazy, they bring crime with them, they get every handout imaginable, they abuse social security numbers, abuse tax return system (check this out), do not assimilate properly, run our schools down (It costs a ton to educate these shits) and a plethora of other issues.

Allowing Mexicans, Muslims and other third world trash into our country in droves with nothing to offer is like a dog welcoming fleas. It will destroy us. It's killing us financially and culturally as these people do not share our values or vision and one day we will wake up and be like "What happened to this place?"

IDGAF about being PC on this issue. Seeing bleeding heart tools and politicians sell us out for this group pisses me off.

Votes. Turning this country into a third world country would keep them in control. Middle class continues to shrink.

#1 Lets face if illegals were voting republican then it would be the dems crying.

#2 The illegals isn't the main problem it's that govt has created so many handouts the illegals have found ways to take advantage too. I have a problem with all the handouts personally.......and I find it funny dems love some Obama but he is leaving with blacks under 30 yrs old at a 57% unemployment rate.

#3 The president is essentially a CEO because we are a business. Once that is resolved we won't have to create lies to invade countries with oil, opium, anything else we want.

Doubtful. I said it months ago - there are tons of closet Trump supporters. When Trump's momentum first started to pick up, he was winning elections left and right, but the numbers didnt add up. Thats because people wouldnt tell pollsters they supported Trump, yet theyd go out and support him at the polls.

I think we'll see alot of the same on election day. Will it be enough?
Voted for him months ago and have not been shy about my support for him on here. I posted when he first announced he was going to be a major factor in this race and several laughed at me. Do I think he is the best thing since sliced bread? Absolutely not. He has a lot of warts, but so does everyone else who is running for POTUS. His ego and brand will not allow him to go to Washington and fail. Taking out most of what he says I think the one thing he will actually do is build the wall. If he does that I call his term a success. No other candidate in this race will do it.

Again, the total number of illegals has shrank or flatlined over the past 5 years. Making illegal immigration your priority in 2016 would be like running on the gas crisis in 1984.

The comments about the welfare state are noted, but shouldn't your ire be focused at ending those programs instead of rounding up people? Seems like an easier solution

I'm almost hoping Trump puts this thing away tonight. I've been on the edge of my seat waiting to see the attack ads the DNC, et al. have been stockpiling for the guy.

Still can't believe either Donald Trump or Hilary Clinton is going to be the next President of the United States.

Hopefully the Yellowstone volcano or an asteroid or something does us all a favor.

I can't even imagine seeing 8 years of news clips of that shrill whiny nails on a chalkboard pandering accented voice of Clinton.

The only thing keeping her out of jail is the fact that she's going to be the next POTUS. That really is amazing.

Yes, and that's the best stance but it doesn't gather all the closet racist together like attacking illegal immigration. Most people don't know the deep rooted problem so keeping everything at the skin level is just easy.

It's the exact opposite of the dems doing what they can to keep the "minority" vote.

I could (once again) post a list of historical Christian atrocities committed in the name of their fairy tale but when I do then I wind up getting banned because if it is ONE THING Christians cannot bear above all others, it is the truth. They cannot abide by it. Their whole little fantasy collapses under the weight of it. Their "faith" is a carefully constructed delusion to wax nostalgic about what great people they are on Sunday like a reset button to cover up all the hypocritical smut their actual lives are. They are presented with either handling truth or constructing fairy tales about what wonderful people they are and for them that is a seductive and easy choice and they will protect it savagely. Even on here. Even in this thread they bristle and snarl at the slightest trace of truth they are confronted by.

Just curious but what is the truth?

Who the POTUS is has no direct influence on the abortion issue. His influence is on who is nominated and chosen for the SC. The next prez will definitely pick one nominee and very possibly several more. The present justices are oooold. It is for this reason that who is the next president is so fundamentally important. They may end up stacking the Court, one direction or the other.

Finding abortion rights in the written Constitution could only have been done by turning over a rock therein and discovering it hidden there. All it required was a majority of the court to spot it, leaving the minority squinting their eyes and saying. "Where is it? Damn, I can't see it. Point to it."

I hear it said all the time. "Abortion rights are the law of the land. That will never change. So just let it go." That may be true. But all it would require to overturn it would be a majority of unaccountable justices to say, "Nope. That right is not in there."

Having a POTUS who's willing to veto restrictions emanating from Congress is influential too, though.

All the rage the last several years has been legislative restrictions, not judicial precedent-setting.

One of my favorite topics....American people voting with their feet away from liberalism and towards conservatism says more about where this country's politics are than the luck or the quirk of whatever politician happens to win office.
That, sir, is an interesting article. Certainly spells something different than the conventional wisdom crap they try to feed us on the topic.

Oh, ok. So its no big deal. Right? Id have to see some link to support a claim that illegals are somehow shrinking. I don't buy that at all.

Cant my ire be focused on both? Its not as if I have to pick and choose which groups should stop getting ridiculous handouts. All handouts need to go.

There you go. Took about 4 seconds of googling

I don't understand your post. I specifically said it is *an* issue, but right now it is objectively nowhere near the top of the list. You then say all hand outs need to go, which is exactly what I said. I was asking why Heisman is so hung up on illegal immigrants getting handouts when it would be more prudent to just attack the hand outs themselves.

That was just a few minutes on Google, first page only. That's not to say that nothing should be done about illegal immigration. On the contrary, it would benefit the US to get a handle on illegal immigration (although this would require an increase in legal immigration b/c birthrates). But the decline in illegal immigration has been a story since the near depression in 2008.

what a shocker, people don't want to live & work in areas where they are subjected to high punitive taxes to fund massive democrat governments? In addition to rampant crime, dirty air, filthy sidewalks, and panhandlers present in any large downtown area?

and to add, those states who keep passing stupid state laws trying to ban abortion and gay rights using tax payer money to finance these ridiculous cases only to see them beaten in Federal court. You know how much money it takes to finance these dumb ass cases?

Gov't waste happens everywhere, not just in big dirty cities. Republicans waste just as much money, and anyone who doesn't believe so is either delusional or dissociated. .

If you take away the handouts dont the illegals stop coming and go home?
just handouts would be a slight disincentive

take away jobs & places to rent is a stake through the heart. make it a $500K per instance fine to any employer who hires & pays an illegal immigrant, $500K per to any property owner renting to an illegal.

Illegals make up 4.6% of the population, but are 5.1% of the workforce.

The article about people leaving big government states is misleading. 1) it's those people that made those states that way in the first place, for the most part and 2) they are implementing the same stupid ass policies in their new homes; see: Austin, metro areas of Colorado, Seattle.

so basically, people are leaving those jobs for states that are slowly becoming more like the state they just left?

People are for sure stupid.

Yep, basically people who voted for tons of big government ish in California can't afford to live there anymore and are buying cheap real estate elsewhere. Then voting for the same ish that made them leave California. It's hilarious and sad

hahahahaha, I definitely see the hilarity to it. Just waiting for the sad to kick in.

You can have a downturn in the total number of immigrants but yet an increase in their cost. Those are not mutually exclusive due to the high cost to educate and support poor immigrant children. Schools especially, where immigration tends to be concentrated in certain areas en mass is extremely burdensome. And the people most negatively affected are the poor.
