Mail in voting has been the norm in some states for at least a decade (OR, UT, WA). The only reason why it became more prominent recently is because we were in a pandemic. It wouldn't have been wise to have the 100m+ Americans standing in line waiting to vote during peak covid, especially when it's been proven by a number of states that you can vote via mail in voting.
Shoot, as of 2019 5 states mainly vote by mail: HI (2019), OR (1998), WA (2011), UT (2012) and CO (2013) .

The democrats have lessened voter security for 25 years or more. Same day registration and vote, used to be a registration deadline now in many states that’s nonexistent.
