It is coaching when it comes to defense. The reason you have to be able to play defense is because sometimes your offense just doesn't work.

You think coaching up to this point in the season hasn't told guys "hey, you need to have your hands up and not in your opponent's back!"? At some point you just have to put up with it as a coach, or put in someone who will do the basics.
