By the way, was very surprised that Frederick Douglass didn't seem to have a huge fan base there yesterday. Like, how are you a Lexington school and not half the arena at the game?
There's also another trend that maybe someone can provide more light on...During the Douglass vs Martin County game, I saw multiple Martin County players who had on different color shoes as in one foot was fluorescent yellow and the other was fluorescent red., another was a blue and red combo. Couldn't tell me if they make shoes like that or if they kids just wore a different shoe on each foot. LOL
Tonight's games should be really good.

More importantly, why did these kids continue to try and dribble through double teams? How was that not an adjustment?

Those shoes are the LaMelo Ball signature shoes. They are Puma, and that specific pair is called the Rick and Morty. Not a huge fan, but kids love them.
Well that point guard had to have at least 10-15 turnovers, but the coach owes that team an apology. Should have tried zone before the first quarter was over.

21 for Ashland is a little baller - don’t think they can hang with Warren Central but he’s pretty impressive early

Hey, I understand personal bias. Nothing wrong with that. And doesn't matter which player is "best." The issue for me is can both guys help UK? I mean really play, not just 12th man stuff. I believe they can and will (if Perry accepts the offer from UK). With apologies, I think Shepherd is better suited to playing at the college level now and more upside. But I also think Perry can really put pressure on college teams with his relentless looking to score.
Go ahead and criticize Shepherd's game - as long as it's fair and not some crazy personal stuff. Honest basketball discussion (we still get to do some of that on here, right?) is the only reason this board has any value.
What's wrong with pointing out where you think a player needs to improve? Cause Shepherd and every other player going from high school to Div. I better make improvements, or they won't be worth the scholarship. Anybody who is fine talking about perceived deficiencies in the games of Wagner or Dillingham, for instance, but gets bent out of shape or touchy when it's suggested that Shepherd might have things to work on, has other issues.
Sheppard is much more athletic compared to Perry. If Cal treats him right, he should be a good 3-4 year player for us. I would love to get both Sheppard and Perry. Both are probably 4 year college players. I like the Al McGuire approach to recruiting, in that he only wanted one "blue chip" (now they call them 5-stars) in each class. Give me one 5-star and three 4-star role players ala Sheppard/Perry.
I got all games, the whole tournament on PrepSpin for 59.99 it shows a better stream than NFHS, which I have used numerous times
The guy needed more screens for him. That seemed to be the consensus from the coaches sitting behind me.
He should have offered Cole Porter from Ashland last year. He's playing and starting for Liberty this year. Kid can shoot the ball. It may have taken him some time, but I believe he could have been a fill in point guard like Cameron Mills in a couple years.
Cal must be coaching them on the side.
That should have been a pack it tight 2-3 zone game or a 1-2-2 packed in with the 1 matching up on ball
Warren Central is just a solid team - nothing flashy just execute and don’t get rattled. Woodford played them well, but Johnson was pretty much a non-factor.
Do you all think Travis Perry is better than Reed?
Also, this semi final game should come down to the wire. I think I read somewhere that a rematch of the state title game has only happened three times in history:
Warren Central lost by one point last year where they should’ve had a chance to win it with a second left if not for a bad out of bounds call. If you remember, WC missed a free throw that would’ve tied it.

I think Travis is a better shooter, but the comparisons stop there. I like the kid and think he's a high major player, but not sure he is an immediate contributor.
Reed has a very complete game. I honestly don't think the two of them are even that comparable. Having said that, I'd love to have both of them at UK.
I looked up the stats. He had 11 TOs all by himself. Frederick Douglass had 11 TOs all together as a team. Martin County had like 20.
I don’t think I saw him play previously. He went nuts after that block charge call.
GRC played a ton of stall ball against North Laurel and Frederick Douglas. Made for two really boring games to watch. I hope Warren Central can dictate the pace.
I didn’t even understand that decision against Douglass. GRC is fast. The stall ball is why they only scored 3 points in the 3rd quarter.
Rematch of last year's title game. GRC wins they'd be the first repeat champion since Fairdale in 1990/91.
