Jamal Murray announcing tomorrow (6/24) on TSN at 6 PM

Im thinking Paul Biancardi broke the story this time?

Fact: This is a bigger deal to Canada than it is the better part of the United States. Obviously the Kentucky fan base, and what little bit of the Oregon fan base there is, will tune into his announcement, or at least be on the lookout for it, but to Canada, this is their country's best basketball player starting his career. Building a national brand in Canada might be, and likely is the bigger deal to him initially. Obviously if he goes to UK, his brand will expand exponentially, but to kick it off, TSN is the route to go. ESPNU doesn't get as many views as any of the other ESPN networks. It's the biggest sports network in Canada, while ESPNU might be the 4th, or 5th biggest sports network in the U.S.

very good post
if Canada keeps producing elite talent they could have a good Olympic team

getting mixed signals. Two hours ago I got what I thought to be a trump card. One of the UK assistants, in reply to one who asked if they'd get a new player on Wednesday, insinuated an answer by producing a big smile and a wink. Not much to go on, but I took it as a positive. It didn't dawn on me until just now that he could have been teasing because Briscoe is due in tomorrow.

A few minutes ago I get a text that says the friendship that Roger Murray has with Assistant Coach Mennenda, as well as Jamal's friendship with Dillon Brooks, will win out. The guy who texted it might have good information, but he's been wrong before.

So now I don't have any idea, but I'll stick with UK.

No offense to all others, but this is the only post in this thread that matters. Care to elaborate Mr. Kersey? Please?

Kersey and Matt Jones both thinking it's UK..hmmmm! Would love to know the inside scoop.

Just by reading the tea leaves of this past week I'm not holding out much hope that Murray picks UK, but I'd love to be pleasantly surprised.

.

Can you describe this 'big' smile? Did it have a canadian maple leaf hue? Can you take a photo and / or share the assistants contact info? Just kidding.....maybe.C

Seriously, thanks for coming back and giving us some updates. Insanely appreciated.

Boy...your last 2 posts have sent me on quiet the emotional roller coaster. I know you can't help it :(:(

So an assistant is going to give a BIG smile and wink when the whole world knows Briscoe is arriving? That's ridiculous.

Yeah, I read that as pertaining to Murray, not Briscoe. I also find it kind of weird that one assistant coach would know something about Murray and would kind of keep another assistant in the dark. I mean, if you can't trust that guy with info why is he on the staff? I don't know, I just can't wait until all of this is over and we have a final roster set.

The Mennenda thing has been known for a long time. The flip side is would that friendship deny Murrays son from experiencing big time basketball? Would the dads loyalty to a man deny his son?

Brooks don't know about. But a friendship keeping Murray from playing with Skal, Ulis, Briscoe, etc? Picking Oregon would be strange indeed but a bunch of them has picked another school because of weird thinking like that.

@z71sab usually has the goods and he's going Oregon all the way.

I think the Oregon play had a Freudian slip and told us what we already know.

I am not getting my hopes up, would love to have him at UK but I believe it is Oregon all the way.

i just can't get emotionally invested in Murray again.

If he announces for us, then great, but I can not get my hopes up again.

Good luck to him in whatever path he chooses.

It's his decision to make, not mine.

Brown and Rabb to Cal, Swanigan to Purdue, etc. Strange class, and I expect that to continue tomorrow.

I get a kick out of all these maggard dropouts who know as much as my 3 year old son. Excluding Dave.

TBF, MJ has not picked Murray to UK. Just said that if the announcement was tomorrow, he felt better about our chances. He's been pretty non-committal about JM, possibly due to getting burned recently.

I am going to say UK based on his dad's comments about looking long term. No way if that is true he seesa better place and coaching for his future. No place ! I think he finally realized that

I'm not holding out hope, but I do think it would he comical if he chose UK (along with the obvious reasons) after the tweet from the Oregon player and the Canadian "Insider" on twitter guarenteed him going to Oregon.

Yeah, except Matt also said we were in a good spot with Brandon Ingram. The coaching staff might feel optimistic, and we could still miss out on the kid.

You could say that about everyone. Nobody is perfect on these things but I think it's pretty clear that Matt has very legit sources. Doesn't mean he or they know everything but I feel better when they are confident rather than when they are not.

Can't really get a read on this one, because the kid and his family have been pretty quiet and none of the national guys who usually fill us in have much of a connection with this particular situation.

I'm about 65-35 Oregon, I guess, which is worth nothing. But that's really just based on Murray seeming like a kid who fits that mold of a player who goes somewhere like that than the ones who wind up at Kentucky. Just doesn't "feel" like a UK recruit, although Wiltjer, Jones, Goodwin and Briscoe didn't really feel like that to me either and guys like Zimmerman and Muhammad absolutely did.

I would agree if not for the fact that there have been countless parents of top ranked kids say the same thing through the years and their kid ends up making a decision that was clearly not based on what is the best place and coach for their basketball future.

Malik Newman said he went to Mississippi State because he thought they could win a National Title for goodness sakes. Kids can convince themselves of nearly anything.

I think the real question that begs to be asked here is...

Will Jamal Murray's decision tomorrow make the hundreds of thousands of Big Blue fans happy or will it be the 6 or 7 Oregon Duck fans who follow their basketball program?

Hmmmm?

Whether he makes the smart choice and picks UK or not I'll just be glad to see all the drama finally come to an end. Between him and the others we were trying to sign, I've never seen so much drama and BS. Let's just hurry up and get this season started.

I will still be tuning in tomorrow. There are 3 or 4 posters are here who clearly have access to more info than most, and were posting info that they were very confident Diallo and Brown were ours right up until they werent. Now those same posters are saying Murray is not ours. Lets hope they are wrong again:)
