Ky will change college basketball after next season ?

Hear me out on this , Cals back is against the wall. We know this and he knows this. It’s obvious with the teams advancing thru the tourney that you can basically buy a Sr. Led team every year now. Imo Cal is going to take the gloves off and scour the portal and put together the best team he can. Next season Ky will be loaded for bear. I suspect We will be top 5 most of the season. If Ky comes back next year and makes a final four or for heavens sake wins a title then and only then will the 2 A take steps to prohibit buying players year end and out. Ky,s brand will draw enough attention for them to act. I know this is a wild prediction but I can clearly see this happening !

Option nobody discusses

A very real possibility is that you don’t hear a word from anyone. Summer comes and goes you hear news about the transfer portal and recruiting etc. and then comes midnight madness. not a word ever said I think that’s what actually happens.

They’re not gonna come out and say Calipari is on probation. That would be a stupid thing to do. What you might see at the most is certain assistant’s let go and new assistant’s hired, but with no conversation about it.

Filling the void

So...At this moment I'm in the "I'm done" camp with UK sports as long as Cal and Mitch are there.

I'm not going to act like my feelings couldn't change and I'd be right back in fan mode by Football season, but I really am going to try and de-prioritize sports.

I have gotten on here first thing EVERY morning and several times throughout the day for YEARS and always count the days till another UK game.

That leaves a big void!!

I love music and MMA and have a few other hobbies. If YOU were to back away, how would you fill that void?

I know this probably seems silly, but honestly, I don't know HOW to back away.

Real Talk About Refs

We all watch enough NCAA Basketball to know how seriously flawed the refs are at their jobs. I just read this article on ESPN about the pressures of March Madness. It got my attention because of the interview with John Higgins. The article, and it has to be intentionally, does not discuss any of Higgins situation with UK and his eventual retirement. Kinda like how nobody brings up the Shot Clock Review Rule was obviously a direct response to officials blowing an egregious shot clock call in 2015.

This isn't to deflect blame from Calipari.

It's just coincidence that we've not done well ever since that guy let all the other referees know that UK fans go after referees...right? In general, NCAA refs are several steps below NBA refs, and none of them are perfect. And these guys are humans, so there has to be some natural reaction among Higgins' peers to the treatment he received, even if he sucked at his job in that game vs UNC.

ESPN Referee Story

GO CATS

Pilgrim update

This was posted 20 minutes before the show and has some new details. Full story below….

Players expect to hear a final answer by Wednesday, but they've been kept out of the loop on a lot of this. Initial word was that Cal was expected to be back and coaches were still recruiting, talking with the current players, but things have gone quiet.
- One player agent expects John Calipari to return with a complete staff overhaul, Reed Sheppard returns (among other stay/go decisions that include several outgoing transfers)
- Some dream coach possibilities may not be such wild dreams after all -- some still coaching in the tournament. If Barnhart is worried about no clear-cut options being available, he should pick up the phone and call or put out some feelers, at minimum. Maybe (and hopefully) he already has, but the pool is bigger than initially expected, from my understanding.
- The ongoing NIL conversation from today has had some real backlash, to put it lightly. Kentucky was an early favorite for one portal guard with confirmed contact who is now questioning his interest in the program (beyond coaching uncertainty, obviously). Between lucrative promises and miscommunications regarding deals, that's something that needs to get under control moving forward no matter who the coaches are. Can confirm the caller's story was true from the other side and frustration is real.
- Continue to hear any scenario where Calipari is back involves major foundational changes and accountability about how the show is run over there. No scenario where this thing is run back as-is. Change is coming, Barnhart is deciding just how much is necessary.
- Still hear Coach Cal wants to be here and would like one last shot at this if the opportunity is there.
- Money is there if Barnhart decides it's time, but no one knows his thinking right now.

Message for spineless Mitch!!

Copied from Dynasty Defenders. I couldn't have said it better myself "
all indications it appears you are on the verge of taking the easy way out and allowing the saboteur to stay on and continue on with his systematic destruction of the UK basketball program…with “changes” of course. A couple of new assistants and a promise by the huckster to “do better.” All to appease your woke masters so they don’t have to be outed by the carnage that will inevitably ensue almost immediately after you make your decision known. As you are well aware, the program is at a place it has never been before and imminently faces near certain oblivion. Even the Pitino probation years with the Unforgettables produced unqualified joy for the fan base with their will to win against all odds attitude.

Even though I personally believe your woke masters wouldn’t trust you and your feeble intellect to make such an important final decision as this, you will get the credit and/or blame for whatever is the final result. Just understand something Mitch. If Calipari returns after the abject debacle of the past two years, you will unleash the greatest revolt this program has ever seen. Thousands of generational Kentucky fans will disown any allegiance to this program and overnight it will become the most despised team in America. If that occurs they will never return to the fold. As for you, your reputation will be that of one of the most despicable people who ever stepped foot in the state of Kentucky…a reputation that will remain long after your gone and for decades to come. You will forever be known as the man who allowed our historic program to be dismantled by an unscrupulous con man whose contempt for the program knows no bounds. A contempt acknowledged yesterday by his own admission that he hasn’t put the program first. Rather his emphasis has been on the Marxist BLM agenda which he finds particularly rewarding.

Even if your hands are tied by your controllers, an honorable person would resign in lieu of carrying out such an insidious assignment. You’ve made millions of dollars over the years as UK’s AD but I guess it’s not enough. After another year of obliteration even you most likely will have to resign. When that occurs you better make plans to leave the state. People will never forgive your treachery and will make your live miserable.

Your not from the great state of Kentucky and your twenty years here apparently haven’t given you any insight into what kind of people inhabit the Commonwealth. They are, by and large, decent, hardworking rural folks, many of whom grew up in poverty, but one thing that kept them going through the decades was their pride in University of Kentucky basketball. It was for many folks one of the few things in their life they could feel good about as they gathered around the radio and later the TV to watch their beloved wildcats take the floor. I know you don’t comprehend it Mitch, but UK basketball is a family thing in Kentucky. Perhaps one of the few things that brings them together and brought them unfettered joy in perhaps difficult times. These are all aspects of life in Kentucky that the saboteur is contemptuous of. Something quite laughable given his own Appalachian roots. Self loathing I think they call it.

I could go on, but I think you get the point. With one last thought I urge you to do THE RIGHT THING and fire this scam artist and restore the hope and joy to the multitude of UK fans around the world. If you can’t do that at least have the decency to resign. Maybe that way you could at least look at yourself in the mirror. The choice is yours
