Man, the kid has been PERFECT for this team.

BUT- would like Cal to find a way to get him some more looks from 3.

We're taking 30 3FGs/game, but in the last 3 games combined, Mitchell has only taken four 3FGs (he's 3/4 from 3 in those 3 games).

Would like to see him getting at least 3 or 4 attempts from 3 per game to help continue to stretch the defense.

The kid deserves more looks from 3!! And it'll help continue to open up the offense even more.

How good can he become? Not just here..but in the future?

I know DJ has struggled a bit to begin this season, but I noticed something rewatching the game just now.

At the end of the first half, DJ tried to get the ball to Tre in the middle of the zone and the ball got stolen. It led to a fast break and DJ fouled instead of giving up the layup.

What I noticed though, was Tre. He was absolutely giving DJ the business. Pointing a finger in his face and was almost nose to nose.

I’m not putting this in here as a thing to worry me, I absolutely loved it…from both of them. Tre was holding DJ accountable and DJ was listening and not getting upset. That shows a level of maturity that a lot of highly ranked freshman wouldn’t have. It also gives me a lot of encouragement that DJ is gonna find his groove as the season goes along.

Just watching these last 2 games, he doesn't appear to be having fun, at all. Every time he's shown, he is never smiling, never seems to be just enjoying the game. I know he's pressing to score and play better, but it's almost like he's moving robotically because he's thinking too much. Nothing is coming easy for him right now.

He could be the best on ball defender in the nation if he would commit himself to that. And offensively I feel like he's settling for to many jump shots, instead of attacking.

Three catches for 50 yards at TE/HB for the Cardinals. I lost track of him after UCF.

Gotta give it to Nate Oats; he plays a fun style, and they are shooting over 50% from the team FOR THE SEASON. Has anyone started the season scoring 100+ points in their first four games? Maybe Loyola? I acknowledge that they’re playing some bad teams (Mercer lost to Clark-Atlanta, and South Alabama lost to Mobile), but Bama has something going. Will it result in a FF or championship? Who knows, but it’s insane what they’re doing, and I miss it.

After hearing Tre speak tonight, I think he may be the most valuable player on the team. He's a great player, but I think his maturity and his outlook on playing the game makes him invaluable for the other guys to lean on when they are not having the games they want to.

Honestly, I have tried to ignore this issue and hoped it would just go away but no. I have been a paying member of this board for many years. There is no reason to bombard me constantly with video and slide show ads about buying something that I have already bought. I have no interest in clicking on some ginger with his hat on backward. How can I stop this because it is beyond annoying. Please tell me how to stop this.

Playing great and fun to watch

Texas tomorrow, probably Indiana on Monday , then the dreaded Bellarmine next week . Could be a telling and pivotal 7-10 days for Kenny Payne… and if something happens with a change mid-season , it’d likely be during the break

We have 2 tough ones left , a road SEC game , needless to say thats a tough one , and on the road at Lil Bro' . Beating SoCar would be nice , but beating Lil Bro again in Louisville would be really sweet . Then there's the 4 losses , all blow outs . Drilled BAD against Ga and Bama ( NO I didnt expect a W ) and home losses to UT , we never had the lead so it wasnt exactly close , and gave up a 35 point run to a decent Mz team . Those 4 losses were U. G. L. Y. . All. in all a good year ? Have to say Yes . but we drop these last 2 to finish at 6-6 . Very disappointing .

In an effort to prevent some of you from unnecessarily drowning in your own tears and hatred of this team...

There's been 12 full seasons played since the first Champions Classic. Only 3 times has a Champions Classic team won the NCAA Tournament in those 12 seasons. Only 3 times.

In one of those years, that being 2015-16 season, Duke won the NCAA Championship, but guess what - KENTUCKY BEAT THEM IN THE CHAMPIONS CLASSIC!!!! Yayyyyyy Champions Classic!!!

Like any early season major matchup, the more veteran team is at an advantage. But by the end of the year, teams progress and improve and only one team is named champion.

The Champions Classic isn't some kind of mandatory measuring stick for the state of a program. It's mid-November. Let's get a grip on reality here

Of all of our incoming freshman it seems the Edwards is going to have to go through a greater adjustment to the game.

He has been able to out athlete high school and AAU competition, but older and stronger players at the college level makes everything he done well harder to do. Very few freshman with his skill set come in and dominate from the word go. More of them bust than what we see succeed.

The kid needs to focus on one part of his game to really progress. He needs to embrace doing the dirty work on both ends of the floor. I feel like his offense will come along when he starts to exhibit the toughness he needs.

Tre Mitchell is the first wildcat in some time who resembles the way I’ve played in the last few decades as a not so young man. Good shooter, good passer, no vertical, no speed, smart, fundamental on block outs and D, etc. Love watching him play. Did you see him talking to Wagner during the game after Wagner threw away an entry pass? Loved it, like a coach on the floor.

Reed Sheppard is a complete throw back too. His dad epitomizes UK 90’s ball, but RS looks more like a Bobby Knight type player from the 80s. Love the subtlety in his game. At one point in first half, he had a wide open 3 but passed it to an open Wagner, who hit the 3. It’s as if RS knew it mattered more to Wagner and we were cruising anyway.

Between Mitchell and Sheppard, we have some selfless, high IQ dudes that make their teammates better. It also doesn’t hurt that they can drill the 3.

I just read the highlights of Boyle’s 21-14 win over Corbin, quite a classic!
Also, read that always quick Mayfield crushed Boley’s team, looking forward to Coen bringing out that young man’s potential as well as possible! Gee, Mayfield used to produce college talent, seems they mostly have small, fast HS level talent these days. Sticking to (my) far western Ky, Paducah Tilghman has some college talent that transferred in supposedly, won big again last night. Wish I had a good football source in western Ky, but I don’t.

The scoreboard has a constant UL clinches title game with win advertisement for U6. I wonder how this game will turn out. Lol.
