Kyle Tucker's recent 'inside info' on Quaintance . LOL.

Here was his post a couple days ago about Jayden Quaintance.

@KyleTucker_ATH

"Lotta, lotta, lotta buzz for Mizzou lately. Kentucky has some work to do to avoid fumbling a game-changing player."

I guess playing to the Kentucky haters with that Thumb-Sucker of an 'analysis piece' (that is, one with no new information) about Calipari recently hasn't improved his access to accurate recruiting intel...

If we don't get at least 3 sacks vs USCjr...

Pretty much every defensive coach should be sent packing. Their OL has been awful all year long. No running attack, Rattler has been hit repeatedly and they've given up a ton of sacks. If we consistently rush 3 and play zone, Rattler will kill us and, most likely, USC wins. If we put a lot of pressure on Rattler, he'll make some bad throws that either lead to punts or turnovers. If USC rushes for more than 120 yards, it's an embarrassment. If Rattler completes 85% of passes like Milton did against us, it's gonna be a long night.

USC has proven in almost every game that their OL is a mess. If we can't dominate the LOS against their OL, our defensive coaches are incompetent.

Needless to say, I'm not 100% confident we'll be able to do so.

Here’s another quote

For those who weren’t old enough to remember or who have forgotten..

We need a coach who coaches solely for the name on the front of the jersey.

Here’s the telling quote from the article which I’ll attach for anybody who wants to read it all.

“The book’s biggest undertaking is to construct a philosophy out of Calipari’s mercenary mentality. It’s a commonplace among college coaches that the school—or, to put it in coachspeak, “the program”—comes before the individual: “We remind our players that the name on the front of the jersey (North Carolina) is more important than the one on the back (their own),” UNC coach Roy Williams likes to say. But Calipari doesn’t subscribe to such hokum. “My first priority isn’t the Commonwealth of Kentucky, or the university, or the legacy of the program, or the greater glory of Big Blue Nation,” he writes. “I coach for the names on the backs of the jerseys—not just the front. My players.”

*** Official CatsIllustrated Kentucky vs Kansas OOC Prediction Contest ***

Welcome to the Official Kentucky @ Kansas OOC Prediction Contest!

Follow the rules below and make your prediction. I'll publish the results after the game. You can put any comment you would like below your score prediction (put '***' after your prediction to make it easier to separate the comments) but try not to put anything above as my scripts may not be able to find your prediction. This is the 1st of three prediction contests this season: the OOC Contest, the SEC Regular Season contest, and the Postseason Contest.

Whoever predicts the score closest to the actual score wins. I take the absolute value of the difference of your guess of the Kentucky score and the actual plus the absolute value of the difference of your guess of the opponent score and the actual. There is a penalty for picking the wrong winner. That penalty is the worst score among those who predicted the correct winner. In case of a tie, the tiebreaker is used. In case of a tie in the tiebreaker, we have more than one winner.

I will be awarding points for the first 10 places, including a 3 point bonus for a perfect prediction. I will track cumulative point totals and the number of games you make the top 10. This contest ends with the Gonzaga game in the middle of the SEC Regular Season.

Your post should look something really close to the example below. Remember the ":"s and the word "Tiebreaker:"! Do not!! use a "-" as a separator because some of our tiebreakers will be negative.

This game's tiebreaker is Kansas Rebounds.

Kentucky @ Kansas game:

-------------------------
Kentucky: 65
Kansas: 86

Tiebreaker: 48
--------------------------

Just cut and paste everything between the lines above into your reply and then modify the scores and tiebreaker as you see fit. If you don't know how to do that, type very carefully. Remember to type in the word "Tiebreaker:" so that I can find it. Anything my scripts can't figure out will not count.

Don't edit your post or try to post a score after the game has started.

BTW I really would prefer exact names for the teams, but will try to be accommodating as long as it doesn't create too much work for me. If we are playing Louisville, just about anything not obscene will be OK.

Burks

Not a lot of talk about him.

I thought he had a few bad shots early, but settled down and played a good game after that. He gave us 4 rebounds in limited minutes. He had 2 assists (both 3's) if I'm remembering correctly.

He'll probably lose all of his minutes once the bigs are playing--but I think he's shown he can contribute when called upon. Gonna be a good player in the future.

Is James Franklin's seat getting warm (should it be)?

Seems like their MO the last few years is win every game except MI and OSU and go to a pretty good bowl. But, 3rd in the B10 year after year is surely wearing on PSU fans, isn't it? Just fired their OC, which could be the sacrifice JF needs to keep the wolves at bay. But, I'm guessing that $8.5M annual salary comes with a lot higher expectations than winning the Outback Bowl and finishing top 15 every year. We'd take it for sure, but not sure Nittany Lion fans will for much longer. Plus, have to believe that UCLA and USC might put another annual loss on PSU's plate. He's a good coach but may have hit a hard ceiling at PSU. Are they willing to continue to pay him a big salary without getting to the CFP? The expansion could benefit them but, again, with 2 losses in the conference would make it difficult to reach the 12-team playoff in most years, imo.

Football ***** UK Football Practice Notebook - Nov. 16 *****

Hello HOB. Back over at the JCFTC for one last time this week as Kentucky HC Mark Stoops will offers his final comments on the matchup with South Carolina before the Cats hit the road for Columbia. We’re slated to talk to him at approx 5:15 ET. Stay tuned…

MARK STOOPS Q&A:

* Good week of practice. Great weather to get in work. Guys are in good spirits. Thinks they’ve bounced back from last week‘s disappointment. They’ve had good energy, and they’re excited to go down and play great at South Carolina. Feels like they did It in a tough environment a couple of weeks ago at MSU, a place they haven’t played well over the years. Hoping they can do that again.

* You hope your team has to resolve to go on the road and play well. Our teams have always had the toughness and attitude to do that. It takes that kind of chip on your shoulder to go do it. “I believe this team has it.”

* On Sandstorm… Played it all week at practice. Jokes, “the great thing about that song, it gets everybody juiced.” (Laughs)

* On Rattler… Really good player, getting more comfortable every week. You can see his comfort level going up. Has a really good feel in the pocket. Does a nice job of escaping when he can, buying time, keeping his eyes down the field.

* On similarities with Milroe and Rattler... Some. They both have that feel and ability to keep things alive and make explosives down the field.

* Really need to be balanced offensively in this one.

* Gotta have pressure on the QB. Winning 1-on-1s up front is a must in this game.

* DB Andru Phillips has practiced and he’ll be out there.

* Stoops gets a little aggravated about another question looking back at Bama. Says that game might as well be 3 months ago in his mind. Have to focus on this game.

Replay Watch Notes (Sheppard)

Just got done watching the replay through. Disappointed we didn’t finish, as I’m sure everyone is. My main takeaways:

- Reed has to play more. Just has to. Sorry to whoever he takes minutes from but Kentucky is better on both ends when he is out there.

- if Adou can channel that level the rest of the season, look out. Showed about everything I want from him in year two, although the shooting still has to come along.

- I appreciate Cal’s faith in Wagner and Edwards. That will likely be the worst game each of them play this year. Unfortunate it happened in this game. But at a certain point, you have to rock with the dudes that are performing (Reed, Rob, Adou, etc.). This team is deep and ultra talented on the perimeter, lean into the hot hand(s).

- Kentucky was swarming athletically tonight. Will look even better once you can put Bradshaw/Zvo/Ugo on the back end.

Again, disappointed they couldn’t finish tonight. But a lot to look forward to.

Hope you all have a good rest of the week.

Jimbo Fisher being bought out for 76 million

He’s the Cal of college football. UK needs to pony up the money like A&M is.

Article from the usual ESPN UK hater Borzello

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-b...sic-recap-duke-michigan-state-kansas-kentucky

Even though the Wildcats lost, why should we still be excited about them this season?

For the first 25 minutes, they were a revelation. They were playing with incredible pace, spreading the floor with multiple shot-makers and forcing Kansas to defend in space. Rob Dillingham was making shots. Antonio Reeves was making shots. Adou Thiero was playing with energy. Kansas simply couldn't keep up.

The Jayhawks did begin to assert their interior dominance and keep Kentucky out of transition in order to come back and eventually win, but the big takeaway is that John Calipari's team went toe-to-toe with the No. 1 team in the country and nearly won. And this despite Justin Edwards and D.J. Wagner -- the highest-ranked freshmen on the Wildcats and their highest-ranked NBA prospects -- shooting a combined 1-for-18 and scoring five points.

One more thing to remember: Kentucky is still short-handed. Aaron Bradshaw, a top-10 recruit, and returning big man Ugonna Onyenso are out after offseason foot injuries, and highly touted Croatian center Zvonimir Ivisic hasn't been cleared to play yet. Hunter Dickinson probably wouldn't had gotten 27 and 21 if those three were able to suit up on Tuesday. I came out of this with plenty of optimism for Kentucky's season. -- Borzello

Best Assistants Since 2016

I know we've said this several times on this board, but this bears repeating. Watching the game the other night - I was shocked by the excitement I had every time we would show our huddles and we would have such a great cast of assistants around the team. One of the main reasons we were so great in the 2010's was Coach O, Robic, and KP balancing out Cal, and recently we just haven't had that with Justus, Bruiser, Barbee, and even KT and Jai.

Right now we're STACKED with assistants. Coach O, Chuck, and Chin are all great, John Welch seems like a star, Bruiser is able to play less of a role behind everyone else, and the fact that we have Tyler Ulis as a sneaky 6th assistant because he's a "student" is a coup. Love that Cal swallowed his pride a bit and brought on such an all-star cast.

With the quality of our assistants, the way we looked on Tuesday, Bradshaw coming back soon, and the recruiting classes for the next 2 seasons looking as good as the early 2010's, I'm thinking we may have turned a corner and we could be entering another 3-4 year glory stretch.

The Consistent Best 5 Players

It's no question that the best 5 players that should be playing the majority of the minutes are:

Dillingam
Sheppard
Reeves
Thiero
Mitchell

These 5 should be getting no less than 25+ minutes again.

I wonder if Cal has heard of the term: "If It ain't broke, don't fix it?" He needs that drilled in his head before he messes with lineups that 100% ruin momentum. Certain personnel who cannot contribute during the game should be benched.

By keeping in certain players while they provided zero value to the team and the game stayed in there. Look at the sky when it's sunny out side. Do you see that it's blue? Of course you do. Then look at the substitution patterns. Cal's intention is NBA first. Not KY first. Once he removes that priority (forced by our admin) then we might see a change. Until that changes, we still can't win big games.
