FB Recruiting Chris Collins making CB Kaleb Lanier a priority

Visited Lanier this week. Lanier is talking about taking a second and third trip to UK in the coming weeks. Definitely one of Collins' top corner targets it would seem.

Hopeful.....

I'm hopeful that with time that I and everyone else can focus on seeing the football cats become a playoff contender. I'm hopeful time will heal the bad feelings created with this past season's coaches looking around. I'm hopeful that stability sets in and we have a staff that remains committed to Kentucky football. I'm hopeful that this stability and the environment we all know that is UK football will lead to recruiting success and more importantly to on the field success! I am hopeful that more players who join our program will see the benefit of playing at Kentucky and enjoy both the short term and long term benefits of being a part of the ever growing Big Blue Nation!

Go Big Blue!

KATs big night….

I get they didn’t win and I know he would never celebrate that bc they lost, but if my coach called me out bc I was hunting my shot bc I was hot all night and he didn’t like it….me and him would be having a REAL Man’s conversation today about that BS! I get if he was hunting and was 5 for 18 but dude had 44 in the 1st half….im sorry but KAT been there long enough he gets to eat when HE chooses! Just my thoughts! It kinda pissed me off!

Which five would win?

Which five would win

  • Bradshaw, Mitchell, Edwards, Reeves, Wagner

    Votes: 22 45.8%
  • Onyenso, Big Z, Thiero, Sheppard, Dillingham

    Votes: 26 54.2%

I'm just curious. That's our starters versus our best five on the bench. Of course, I don't think either lineup is our best five. That would be Wagner, Sheppard, Reeves, Mitchell, and Big Z, imo.

Lexington official says Fayette County Schools did Not respond to city’s snow plan

From Herald Leader article link at bottom:

A lack of communication between Fayette County Public Schools and city officials about school bus routes and the Lexington snow removal plan existed prior to classes being canceled Monday due to unsafe roads, the public works commissioner said in a Monday memo. “We did not receive a response from FCPS this year on proposed changes to the (snow) plan so the plan moved forward,” Nancy Albright, Commissioner of Environmental Quality & Public Works told Urban County Council members. She said city officials ask the school district and others for changes to the snow plan each year. “As part of the development of the snow plan we are concerned about assisting FCPS transportation within the road rankings. We do not have a map showing FCPS bus routes,” Albright said.
She said if there are gaps in the rankings of which roads get cleared first with “respect to the bus routes we did not have a way to determine those gaps other than to ask FCPS to review and comment.” Fayette County school district officials didn’t immediately comment to the Herald-Leader about the memo. But Monday night, Superintendent Demetrus Liggins told parents that schools would be back in session Tuesday. “Our transportation team has worked diligently to assess road conditions to ensure the safety of all students and staff. Please note that adjustments have been made to a handful of bus stops. Families impacted by these changes have been contacted today,” Liggins said.
After Monday night’s school board meeting, Liggins told the Herald-Leader’s reporting partner WKYT, “we do have some routes that are still not as clear as we feel are safe enough. We’ve made alternative plans for those families to make sure their students can get to school.” Liggins said district officials will hold a meeting Tuesday to address ways to improve their response to similar situations. “I just wish that we had communicated a little bit more often with our city partners,” Liggins told WKYT. “More frequently with our families, about some of the things we were doing. But at the end of the day, I don’t think we did a poor job and I want our kids back in school as soon as possible.”
On Sunday night, in announcing that Fayette schools would have its fourth day of remote learning and its fifth day of canceled classes due to winter weather, district spokesperson Dia Davidson-Smith said: “Despite the desire to return to in-person learning tomorrow, safety concerns still remain. FCPS crews have been out today checking roads in the county and determined that 20% of bus routes still are unsafe for buses to navigate.” Albright said there was collaboration Monday. She said the school district chief operating officer was connecting snow plan maps with bus route maps. “Hopefully this will identify the extent of bus routes that are not on a ranked road. It is hard for me to say how they reach the percentage of bus routes that are still covered with snow without that information,” Albright said.
“We have also asked FCPS for a list of city streets that they are aware of needing attention this morning so that we can focus on those today,” she said. Albright said Liggins sent a response to city officials, saying not all of the bus routes fall on LFUCG-owned roads, “specifically stating, ‘the challenges are multifaceted, and it’s not solely the responsibility of LFUCG.’” Some of the questions have been about the decision to not have full crews active over the weekend, she said. Roads ranked a high priority were largely clear, said Albright.
“Between the total accumulation and the temperatures, this storm did not trigger the level of response that would have had our crews working on the unranked roads over the weekend,” Albright said.

UK offered a 2024 kicker...

Some of the offers that have gone out recently are PWO but this one seems more significant.

Jay Boulware has offered kicking specialist Max Prozny.

5-star Kohls Kicker rated No. 9 in the country.

Asked if UK wants him to visit and he is unsure, seems like the relationship is still just coming together.

BB Recruiting I just spoke with Kevin Knox Sr.

They had a great visit. There were two things they came away really impressed with: John Welch, and the Noah Shooting System. I didn't realize this but Kentucky and BYU are the only programs in the country that have the Noah system. They have been on campus so much they were familiar with everything else. He called Kentucky "we" several times. Still looking at the 60 day window for future rosters. I'll be honest, I think if the current players leave that we think he will be a Wildcat. I'll have the interview ready later tonight.

Difference between Saban and Coach K

Saban went out with no fanfare, no long speeches or no last trip through the SEC. He made a decision, told his players and simply stepped away. He didn’t make it about himself.

Coach K announced his decision before the season began, made a big deal of his last road trips, let Duke lavish him with attention, etc …. ESPN headline for 3 months.

I was never a K hater, but Saban went out like a man!!! Well done sir!

Zvonimir Ivišić will not play (including exhibitions) until approved by NCAA

Yesterday, John Calipari said he anticipated Zvonimir Ivišić playing in Kentucky’s exhibition vs. Kentucky State next week. Turns out that decision is in the hands of the NCAA. UK Athletics just issued a statement saying that Ivišić cannot play against outside competition until he is cleared by the NCAA, which has yet to happen.

“As a department, we want to clarify, Zvonimir Ivišić has been cleared to practice and play in all intrasquad games. That said, he can not compete against outside competition, including exhibition games, until he is approved by the NCAA. There was miscommunication in this regard and, as we always do, we plan to adhere to NCAA rules. Until he is fully cleared, Zvonimir will be withheld from games against outside competition.”

ESPN/Bronny J love fest

It seems like everyday ESPN has headlines for Bronny James. Dude only averages 5.8 ppg 2.5 rebs and his team sucks. I understand he's Lebron James' son, but come on the kid is just an average freshman player. No need for all the attention and running him down everyone's throat. I watched some of the Arizona vs USC game and it was sickening listening to the commentators go on about him. If his last name wasn't James, he would barely sniff the floor for most P5 schools.

Defensive Question for Coach Sisk

@David Sisk

I know they aren't playing good defense, but how much of this is due to the pace being so fast and creating so many possessions that it does wear our guys down a bit. Not to mention, these are freshman playing and their bodies really can't handle the extra possessions. I know there are things they're doing bad in terms of guarding...but combine their younger bodies with the fact that it's hard to get engaged defensively when you're running so fast.

I'm not saying they should be good defenders and could get there eventually this year...I see the limits. Your article last week really was eye opening pointing out the issues.

I ask because Saturday I see times when our length/athletic-ability did fine in shutting them down...but late in the game our guys were just a bit tired. I do think the depth will help in the long term and I think that freshman improve more over a season than anyone else and SEC play will make them adequate defensively...not good but good enough.

What says you?
