KENTUCKY HC JOHN CALIPARI - UK RADIO NETWORK Q&A:

* Calipari: "I saw men, and I saw boys." Says South Carolina roughed them up tonight, missed a bunch of shots because they weren't ready to be physical. Too much dancing with the ball instead of going by people who want to be physical. That's what young players often do.

* Did not do a good job of throwing it ahead, reversing the ball, getting into their offense. Again, falls back on "youth."

* Team has to watch tape and realize they can't play this way.

* Gotta make practices rougher. It was too rough for Z today. This is going to be the blueprint teams try to use against them if they don't get tougher.

* They didn't execute some things they talked about in the huddles. One of them was on certain guys you foul and certain guys you don't.

* We'll get better. This was a great lesson.

* Arkansas will be the same kind of crowd, they'll rush the court the same way. Sounds defeated before he even goes. Really down tonight after that performance.

Change the rules…

College basketball rules and officials are the most inconsistent and worst play calling in any sport.

It’s bullshit that each game is called completely opposite as another. A foul in California should be called exactly the same in New York as with a travel or anything else.

It’s becoming obvious that teams who don’t have the personnel to match up to play a game of skill has to turn it into a damn wrestling match. If that’s the way the games are called, let’s recruit Brock Lesnar and Stone Cold.

We lost. Our coaches were awful. Our players were awful. But dang at what point do they either need to get back to traditional basketball rules or just overhaul the rule book completely.

Can someone splain to me?

I get it you are going to start certain guys. I am good with it for now. No problem. Lots of fire power sitting on bench waiting to come in to right the ship.

Below is any game not last night.

So, we had a first half. The five players that were most fluid and worked together best in the first half is determined. Two or three of the starters were not among these five. We often hear the first 5 minutes of the second half is key. Think FSU in 78 if you are old enough.

Why in the hell do we go back to the guys that proved they couldn't play in the first half to start the second half? How many coaches do this? Someone explain why this makes sense? Down 15 last night in a blink of an eye.

Lots of blame to go around, but

Edwards getting 23 minutes and providing us with 2 points, while Sheppard (who I’ll admit wasn’t good tonight, didn’t get to play through his mistakes and only played 13 minutes, needs to be at the top of the list. I just think that kid has earned 30 minutes a game and the rite to play through his slow starts. He’s one of the most efficient players in the country and I’m worried Calipari is well on his way to destroying that kids confidence. He won’t start him, he jerks him at his first mistake, he doesn’t give him near the rope he gives Wagner, or even Edwards.

DJ, Reed, and Edwards

DJ: 3 assists in 30 minutes, 2-10 shooting and numerous stupid, selfish plays.

Reed: Played FOURTEEN, FOURTEEN, FOURTEEN MINUTES.

Edwards: TWENTY THREE MINUTES, 0-1 shooting and 2 rebounds.

Congrats, Cal, masterful job of coaching.

Fellas, you just witnessed how we're going to lose in the tournament in the second round.

Or the first.

Oh well, there's always next year, right calbois?

If I were Coach Cal…… but I’m not

This is how I would try to fix this team….

1. Have a set rotation
2. Stop playing guys who cannot contribute
3. Start players who can contribute
4. Try switching to zone to see if it helps
5. Press the opposing team to speed up the tempo
6. Stop leaving the corners when a defender is driving
7. Stop backing up on screens, go above the screens
8. No more two 7footers in at the same time
9. You have to stop giving up the 3, idc if the man blows by for a 2, stop leaving the shooters.
10. The set rotation as of now should be…
Wagner
Rob
Reeves
Mitchell
Bradshaw

Reed
Adou
Big Z/Ugo depending on what we need
Edwards/if needed

All of this is easier said than done and I won’t get my hopes up that these changes will happen because honestly they probably won’t.

Did Welch call in sick last night…..

Just looked Ike offense pre-Welch last night. Terrible all around. Did Cal decide to run it solo for funsies?

I didn’t see anything that resembled a final four team on the floor. Guys looked slow, lethargic, unprepared.

No adjustments by Cal.

Weird substitution patterns; too many subs causing no flow.

What the hell was the game plan? Didn’t see one.

Why are we doubling? Why does Cal insist on leaving open three point shooters everywhere?

Why in Gods name did Edwards play so many minutes?

Why did RD go to the bench when he was the only shot maker playing?

Why did Wagner decide to forget how to pass the ball?

Seems maybe we should give up on under basket out of bounds plays, just give the opposing team two points and head the other way. We can’t stop it, so why doesn’t Cal just stop embarrassing himself on national television?

Does Cal enjoy giving newer head coaches wins over mighty Kentucky? Is he trying to increase coaching salaries while simultaneously getting his own players ready for the league at all costs?

Why does Cal keep rolling with the same tired excuses after stupid and unexplainable losses - playing grown men, environment was too tough, poor dominant habits we are trying to change, blah, blah, blah. It’s almost like he doesn’t understand that other coaches deal with the same shit?

Why did Cal decide to play a half court game? Is he trying to prove something? He failed……again. Again. Again.

Jesus, I could go on and on…….

Looks like round of 32 as best case scenario.

Stops vs South Carolina

Sorry, I just can force myself to read much today.

I’m sure many grievances have been issued.

Mine follows…….

Second half, I monitored from under 16 TO on and then went back this morning and double checked play by play.

We got 2 defensive stops in a row ONE TIME in the second half.

“We got two G D stops in a row once in the second half? Once? Take over, Monty, I’m in the bag” (In my best Bob Ucker voice form Major League)

You can’t win a game, much less come back in one, with that level of stops. That means your opponent is scoring on every other possession… 50%

Color me confused, Rams have a QB coach more in pro demand than Coen?

Steelers, Raiders showing interest in Rams passing game coordinator Zac Robinson for OC job, per report

By Bryan DeArdo

Zac Robinson's calendar is filling up. The Los Angeles Rams passing game coordinator, who has become a rising offensive coordinator candidate, recently spoke with the Chicago Bears and is slated to meet with the New England Patriots this week. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders, two teams who also have offensive coordinator vacancies, have also put in requests to speak with him, via Sports Illustrated.
Robinson, 37, was an NFL quarterback from 2010-13, enjoying stints with the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals. He broke into coaching with the Rams in 2019 as the team's assistant quarterbacks coach. Robinson spent the 2020 season as the team's assistant receivers coach and won a Super Bowlthe next year while serving as the team's assistant QB coach.
In 2022, Rams head coach Sean McVay promoted Robinson to quarterbacks coach while also giving him the title of passing game coordinator. With Robinson's influence, the Rams' passing game flourished this season despite Cooper Kupp missing five games with injuries. The Rams offense received big contributions from quarterback Matthew Stafford, rookie Puka Nacua and running back Kyren Williams. Each player received Pro Bowl recognition, while Nacua set NFL rookie records for receptions (105) and receiving yards (1,486).

Cats Get Plucked by Gamecocks in Colossal Court-Storming Upset

Artificial Intelligence's assessment: (feel free to add/edit) ; )

The vaunted Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team, ranked #6 in the nation and coached by the $9 million man John Calipari, suffered an embarrassing defeat last night at the hands of the unranked South Carolina Gamecocks. The Gamecocks dominated from start to finish, trouncing the Cats by a score of 79-62 in Colonial Life Arena.

The highly-paid Calipari appeared flummoxed on the sidelines as his squad failed to execute even basic defensive assignments. "It's like they weren't even trying on defense!" exclaimed Calipari during a timeout huddle. "Do I really need to draw pictures for you guys to understand how to defend a simple inbounds play?"

Meanwhile, the Gamecocks displayed precision passing and lockdown defense that made Kentucky look like a JV team. "We were clicking on all cylinders tonight," said USC coach Lamont Paris. "I'm not sure Calipari even scouted us, the way we were scoring at will."

As the final buzzer sounded on the 17-point drubbing, South Carolina fans stormed the court in delirious celebration. "We just beat Kentucky! I can't believe it!" screamed one student as he crowd-surfed across a sea of garnet and black. Campus police tried halfheartedly to stop the court storming, but quickly gave up.

"This is what college basketball is all about," said Paris as he was engulfed by the swarming student section. "Big Blue Nation may have to wait until next year for banner #9."

The loss drops Kentucky to 14-4 on the season and puts their NCAA tournament hopes in jeopardy. As for South Carolina, could this court-storming victory be the win that propels the Gamecocks to make a Cinderella run in March? We'll have to wait and see.
