Max seed for UK?

I've heard anywhere from a 2 to a 4 as being the best we can do at this point.

While I think it would be very difficult for us to get a 2, requiring us to win our next 6 games and maybe a little luck on a few other teams having more than 1 loss, I think it is possible.
But I think a 3 is a realisitic goal (& just as good).

So, the purpose of this post is that I decided to compare 2 teams, not UK, with very different current expected seeds.

Team A: currently projected as a 3 seed
Team B: currently projected as a 6 seed

Losses: Team A = 6 / Team B = 5
Current NET of all Loses: Team A = 4*, @122, @139, 47, @9, @25 / Team B = @23, @6, 97, @7, 91 (* not Home or Away)
Best (top 40) NET Wins: Team A = 13*, 24*, 23, 25 / Team B = 19, @5, 28

IMO, honestly you can make a case for Team B to be ahead of Team A, but without a doubt they are VERY close. Team B has 1 less loss, AND it's Road losses are to much better teams, but it's Home losses are to worse teams. Team A has 1 more "good win", but Team B's best win is much better.
So, my assessment is that these 2 teams are at most 1 more loss by Team A or 1 more "good win" by Team B apart.

BTW, if you are wondering, these are Duke and South Carolina.

Basketball VIDEO: Chin Coleman talks prep for Mississippi State rematch

* Says he hasn't seen an offensive explosion like the last game during his time in college basketball. He's seen it in the NBA a few times, but not like that in college.

* It was only a matter of time for Justin Edwards to have a great game because of the type of work he's been putting into his game. He's gotten down at times, but he's drawn confidence from the work he's doing.

* On how Edwards handled the expectations... Troublesome at times to live up to everything people were sayng about him. Stressed to him that he had to keep his "positive voice" and "drown out the negative." They had a life coach come in and help them with stuff "between the ears."

* On whether they have plans for court-storm games... Cal has done some things in the past to prepare for that scenario, Coleman says. It's a shame something happened to the Duke player. It sounds like we're going to see more punishment in the future to get rid of it.

* Asked about Tre Mitchell... Notes that they still haven't started and finished a game with their whole team. They need Tre to be their most-minutes-logged player. He's that important. He's like a "traffic cop" out there with his ability to be a secondary ball-handler. They trust him with the ball in his hands.

* Coach Cal is the GOAT, Coleman stresses, coming off the blowout of Bama. "Let's not get it twisted." The GOAT had a hunch last game to play Z with four guys he wanted to see him out there with, and that was a big part of the explosion you saw. He also had a plan for how to play Bama and what to give them. You saw how that played out, even if you may not have understood it at first. He's got another hunch for this game. "We'll see what happens."

* Ready for the hostile environment in Starkville. Used to it by now. They see it everywhere.

* Physicality has stepped up for this team. A lot more collisions in recent games. Once coach (Pearl, cough cough) even said he was sending film to the league about it. Coleman: "I was happy to hear that."

* UK did a nice job of taking away their initial actions in the first game, and they have a really good coaching staff, so you're going to see some adjustments in this game. Gotta be ready for that, even though they're sure that MSU wants to play a "deliberate" game. UK needs to have an "aggressor" mindset and control the glass. This game will be won or lost "in the trenches... it's not gonna be like Alabama."

* Big Z is a "unicorn." He's 7-2 but really skilled. Can shoot and handle it and pass. But this game is going to be a physical game, and he's got to show some physicality to stay on the floor. If he can do that, he can show off some of that skill.

* They want Reed Sheppard to shoot more. Cal is on him about getting more shots up. He's just not a kid who goes out and hunts his own before other guys. But sometimes you need a little more selfishness from him because he's one of the best 3-point shooters in the country. You may see him take a few more than usual in this MSU game, Coleman hints. He's in a really good rhythm right now, though, and they don't want to throw that off by changing things up with him.

* Proud of Antonio Reeves. They're from the same neighborhood in Chicago. To see where he's grown, the work that he puts in... Had a conversation with his dad recently about how things could play out, and to see it happening for him is really rewarding. "And he's got a lot left. We didn't come this far just to get this far." All of this work is building up to the big tournament.

* This team has character, not characters. There's a different camaraderie in the locker room.

RIP Ole Anderson

Matt Jones tweet

Well a copy of a tweet from DrsftKings. That 25% of the $ and 18% of the best are on UK winning the NCAA-T, at +2200 odds.

IMO that is really bad news for BBN. There is no way Vegas (via Refs) will allow us to win it!!!! Assuming DraftKings bets are representative of all other sports betting.

It’s probably too late, but BBN stop betting on our Cats to win it, in fact go get on other teams.

PWO Offer at Cincy St. X

Looks like UK put out a PWO offer today to Andrew Weber. I really only bring it up because hes from my alma mater- Cincy St. Xavier. UK already has Justin Kattus coming as a PWO in the 2024 class from St. X so it cant hurt in their pursuit of Tucker Kattus.

Weber was a good player for St Xavier this past year making first team all GCL- 5 INTs, 50 tackles, 8 PDs and 2 punt return TDs. Hes also got a PWO from South Carolina and scholarship offers from Butler, Dayton& Valpo.

Filipowski with no major injury

Nothing major. Didn't even get internal imagining done. I could've sworn, by the way it looked as he narrowly escaped with his life, that he might not ever walk again.

Can we have a real talk moment (that not many of you will like)

I’m going to oversimplify a little here, but it’ll still communicate the point. Let’s go back over the last 50 years and look at UK during that time; look at the years when we were the best of the best or very nearly that. During that time there were maybe 3 years in the 70s that qualified, 5 years in the mid to late 90s, 5 years basically beginning with at the 10s, and throw in a couple years in the mid aughts to get a nice round number of 15. (The number comes out to about 15 however you want to evaluate particular decades)

That’s 15 years out of 50 that UK was the top dog or one of the top dogs. That’s a pretty impressive number. And yet, that’s less than 1/3rd of 50 years. What you guys are asking is an Alabama football, UK cheerleading, UConn women’s basketball level of success. If you look across the thousands of Division I sports programs, how many teams do you think achieve that level of success? It’s a nearly impossible feat.

What we have been is a top 25 level program for most of 100 years. That’s rarified air. Enjoy it. And enjoy that this year’s product is way more entertaining to watch than last year’s. Despite the near misses and some of the coaching buffoonery, it’s still a pretty exciting thing.

PS, even with all of the top level NBA talent we’ve churned out, they were still only 18-20 year old kids when they were here. How many of you - even if you were really good at what you did - got things perfect every single time at 18 or 19 years old? How many of you put in a stellar performance every single day?

Flopowski

I've watched it a few times and it looks like the first kid coming he sticks his foot out to trip him, then the sec kid he looks like hes bracing kinda like a olineman to block him ,then the guy kinda smacks his leg and he acts like he was hit by a car. To make matters worse look at how punka$# scheyer reacts like he was murdered on the court , I mean the guy is 6-11 250 and ol coach is acting like he was mowed down by passing cars,a lil over reaction, from the softbatch cookies it seems to me. I looked at Clark the girl who plays for Iowa and she was leveled to the floor ,she got up like nothing much at all happened and said she was fine . Just kinda strange if ya ask me . Clark is definitely 10x tougher then ol flopkowski lol

FB Recruiting What's behind Javeon Campbell's rise?

The 6'5 EDGE from Western Hills, Wan'Dale school, had 14.5 sacks in 7.5 games last season and has offers from UK, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Miami, and others. Took a recent trip to South Bend.

What's behind his rise ...
