I am not a nut job, not clinically dignosed so far.
The politics during this crisis is another selfish complication with this virus.
"It is political" seems to a fall back comment without any explaining what that means.
I have made such comments and now, I wish I didn't.
WE need to come together.
I remember first hearing that the motto of KY was "United WE Stand, Divided We Fall."
I felt it was good to be a kentuckian. I was glad I was born in Ky.

Yeah, I did not follow the first comment up with the right response. Did not mean it had anything to do with it directly but, due to the fact that we can handle and control the death rate better than anyone else perhaps we should go by the way of herd immunity.

On a related note, our healthcare system is the best in the world and this "pandemic" has proven that.

Since the US has the most cases IN THE WORLD, I think we have herd sickness but where is the immunity?

If herd immunity is a relieve from this virus, when will the immunity show up in the US.

If I am not mistaken you must achieve around 70% or more infected. Not really sure.

That is what I have heard/read from epidemiologists. 60-70%.

Looking at the stats nationally is silly. You have to look at it by region or even sub regions. You can’t even break it down by state.

nyc and nj might have some level of herd immunity. Houston May be approaching it. Northern Italy might too.

Ive posted this before, but this would be a great opprotunity for the right to extend an olive branch and just say "fine, we'll wear a mask because it makes you feel better". Everyone wants the other political party to meet halfway. This is it. Do it for the sick and do it so that maybe the Left will do the same down the road.. or at least so they will shut the **** up about it.

They don't work. And why do conservatives always have to compromise?

And what caused the prolonging there? I clearly remember modern msm endlessly lecturing prospective church goers about crowds, referencing the victory parades. Then....tens of thousands poured into the street for blm protests. They're still at it. Yet not one word of warning or blame for them.

Rules are rules and the virus doesn't care about your cause. If compromise and obedience was desired of all, then all should be treated the same.

We test more in a day than most nations tested in total. It ain't rocket science. We have our issues (mainly thanks first to NYC then to blm) but we're definitely no worse off than anyone else.

Sounds simple but not happening. Prevention was never possible especially since we believed the who and were late to take action. The only chance at prevention is actual self quarantine for 14-21 days. But people have to go to the store so that's not possible.

Focus should be on treatment like it was in the beginning. Flatten the curve assumed we'd all get it. It was meant to keep us from all getting it at once.

As always in the new world of social media, nuance is lost. Masks do have some efficacy as part of a mitigation strategy. At the same time, the way most people use them (i.e., not cleaning them, not wearing over their nose, taking them off to talk, etc.) defeats the entire purpose. And there is something awfully damn suspicious about a "pandemic" in an election year that has resulted in a colossal loss of freedom, both officially and unofficially.

There is a huge difference, for instance, between being a dentist working in close proximity to people all day in confined spaces with recycled air and a contractor laying footings.

One should have the highest quality PPE. For the other, this simply is not that big a deal, imo, unless they have some co-morbid condition like asthma, etc. But God forbid we do anything that makes any damn sense or has any nuance. And God forbid we not use this as yet another excuse for every individual snowflake to become an armchair epidemiogist with a half-cocked opinion that he or she feels perfectly entitled to express despite not knowing what the hell they are talking about.

COVID has made us all dumber. Except Bezos. He's knocking this out of the park.

I consider the societal ramifications of America's response to this to be far, far greater of a long-term threat to health and happiness than some virus that doesn't kill anyone but the elderly/sick and is just especially communicable.

I know, at least as of last week, the massive hospitalization numbers in Texas were mainly non-COVID patients finally going in to the hospitals for other things.

I would need to see a breakdown of people who are hospitalized BECAUSE of COVID, not someone who had a knee replacement but tested positive for COVID antibodies.

Same with ICU numbers. ICUs are meant to be run very lean, and if they are 90% full and only 10 or 15% are COVID patients, I'm not too concerned.

Good evening, Sheep. You won't have to worry about me not wearing a mask because I'm back in the hospital since Wednesday morning. My mesh failed again (incisional hernia - 3" above the naval) which means they will do a very invasive surgery soon. Have had dozens of surgeries in the stomach/belly and this is what I get. Anyway, I think Andy is awful, but I would obey for a couple of weeks, although I do not believe that he has the authority to enforce such compliance. I'm sick as crap and it has zero to do with COVID.

I hope you feel better and get through surgery my friend!

Yep. That's literally the only options. Our healthcare system would probably have done an even better job if Cuomo hadn't sent so many sick older patients to their doom. Even florida who is seeing their deadliest days(proven date of deaths) aren't even 70 deaths per day.

That assumes immunity is based on an antibody response. That's not necessarily the case. There's been significant immunity from innate t-cell immune response due to the nature of the virus being closely related to common cold versions. Some observers see 20% is a better example.

If you catch it early enough to isolate the first few individuals, then it can be stopped. The problem in this case was that it was FAR TOO WIDESPREAD by the time information was released it. Your theory would have worked if china, and the WHO would have been upfront and given out proper information. By the time we knew it existed, it was already too late. Pandora's box was open.
