Do not think of it that way. Used to for years. I try now to take each game, each week as it is and see where we go. Right now we are on top of the world. But now my mind goes to team building, a safe and productive summer/fall for our guys and that each and every one becomes the best version of themselves. If all that happens, the NATTY would be a foregone conclusion. I think it is to do with Age and health for me. I try not to look at April 26 but enjoy April 25 and the process.

That’s certainly a healthy approach and if you look at a season as a failure, if a nc isn’t won, well then obviously the majority of UK’s seasons and its entire existence is a failure. That, for a mentally healthy fan, just simply isn’t true. It is, after all, only a game albeit a game that is terribly important for those on this board.
I love your optimism but it’s way too early to know anything about how good our roster truly is, how the team plays together, who declares for the draft throughout the league, what our roster looks like next year, how bad the injury bug bites us, and far more things than what I’ve listed.
If this guy starts talking the lame ass Vikings on the football board we know it's him.

Commented the very same thing when I read it. Pretty soon he will be posting about how OO will be the greatest of all time and how the officials screwed the Vikings again.
No, I do not see pass/fail with UK basketball like regular fans. My expectations are my own, I do not project on the team. Lets say Houston is #1 in preseason and does not lose a game to the National Championship game, UK is say #2 and does the exact same, either way we had a great year. Now let say we are preseason #1, end up with a like record of this year and say a sweet 16 or elite 8. Again I am disappointed, I do not project that on the team. I lived through the mid 60s through to 1978 team drought. I remember the pressure on that team, on Goose and Lee (being Lexington kids). I was so happy we won and also so relieved for them as they really did not enjoy the process. That taught me to try and figure out a way to love the process of life. I would have hated being the best team hands down and not being able to enjoy that. Then lived through the drought from 78 through 96. Oh so many close calls, disappointments and so forth. I was at the 97 final 4 in Indy and watched us lose to the Western Wildcats. Long ride home but was a great year. I get down on regular season upsets more than tourney upsets (except was hard to get over a couple of Cal's upsets, i will admit). UK favored to beat say LSU and LSU plays all out and we have a horrible game (regular season). I am very ticked about that game. SEC tourney and NCAA takes, talent, team, coaching and luck to win it all. Regular season is all about getting better each game to be ready for tourneys. When I see us fail to get better game to game it bothers me. I have never looked back on an NCAA tourney (including the year we were undefeated) and held that over their heads. Again we could have been beaten several games in the tourney.
Like your confidence! I have not seen any of our portal guys games from last season so cannot comment from any knowledge. But, I did not know any player from last season, besides Jaxon. I just trust CMP and staff to sign players that fit UK’s style of play with talents that complement each other and lead to team and not individual play. GBB!

SEC may not be as much of a gauntlet (still going to be one of the best conferences). We should be stronger with returning dudes.

I have a feeling we are going to be good this year too, but 2 losses is going to be next to impossible in this new SEC era.
Only thing I think could hold us back is strength and conditioning/defense which is why I posted what I did in regards. If we for real work on both, I think we could have a roster that might be able to do some big things.
Duke also relied on freshmen in a league that was dominated by 5-6 year players. Cal was king of that system and it hadn't worked for years.
They thought the same, but I honestly don't see any of our freshmen starting next year unless it's due to injury.
Seems like if I wasn’t married I would be totally lost in today’s world. She reminds me all the time that I messed up driving, dressing, talking and pretty much anything. She asked me what I would be without her, I answered “millionaire”. 😂
We need to slow down. Injuries, culture, luck all play in the path to the FF. You must have breaks when you get to elite 8 because at that level you best not have a subpar outing, be lucky on fouls, lucky on matchups. It takes a lot of stars to line up to win it all. Let's first worry about game #1 in the SEC, then SEC season, SEC tourney, seed position in NCAAT. Way too early to predict anything. We can hope but to say we will win it all is just a wild ass hope and dream.
Should UK be extremely good next year? Yes, especially if Wilkerson decides to enroll, and JQ’s knee heals up as projected. But best team doesn’t win the title most of the time. See UK in 2010, 2015, 2017. See Duke this year.
