Russia - Ukraine WAR Warning: Political Discussions

No, it's valid. There isn't a western nation afraid of Russia as evidenced by harsh sanctions sure to piss Putin off. Putin may well be holding back better equipment. That's mainly because he can't afford to replace it if it is lost. We certainly don't need their screwed up technology. Get out from under your desk and stand straight up. Russia is weak except for nukes.

Ukraine barely has a military and few sophisticated weapons. The fact that Russia controls very little in 8 days supports my position, not yours. As for a larger war after he is financially ruined, does that really make sense to you? Wars are expensive, how will he pay for it?
An example of a 1980s-era conservative, who would NEVER side with Russia in ANYTHING. Russia is the same Russia it was during the Cold War. They are our enemy. Trump may be someone you like, but he’s wrong on Putin. By the way, the guy conservatives see in Trump-Reagan-would have absolutely KICKED Trump’s ASS in a primary. He also would be rolling over in his grave if he knew a Republican President cozied up with a Russian leader. Despicable and un-American.

Ukraine weapons are getting more & more sophisticated by the day with all the shipments coming in. I've heard nothing of this, but I now wonder if US doesn't have covert advisors in U to train in those weapons' usage.
Well maybe I'm not too far off:

"JOHN KIRBY: I'll tell you very clearly what the Pentagon and the Department of Defense is focused on, and it's really two things. One is continuing to make sure that Ukraine can defend itself, and they are defending themselves. And as we just talked about a few minutes ago, we're helping them do that, and we're trying to do that as fast as possible."

I want somebody to show me one time in history where appeasement paid off? There are limitless examples of where it did not.

We must stop Putin in his tracks immediately or history will come to collect what is due.

Every time I hear a politician say we have to do this or we can't do that because it might start a war with Russia or make Putin mad I feel like screaming from the rooftops that this literally is the Hitler playbook all over again. You are not going to appease Putin into stopping. He has grand historical designs on rebuilding Russia and those plans do not end in a bloody quagmire in Ukraine for the next 10 years.

I realize most are not gifted as I am but history is staring you right in the face and you still cannot recognize it?

buddy, don’t worry. Obama, Hillary, Joe, Pelosi, Lyndsay, Mitch, George W, Rothschild, Klaus Schwab, George Soros will be in the best interest of America (lol)

I wasn’t discussing World Health whatsoever.

but we have to quit arguing what lead us here, but focus on the present.

Is Putin a mad man? Has he been able to convince his people the same?

China wants to rule the world but they will not do that until they have FULL military power.

don’t worry, Joe and Obama will be equipping China’s army quicker than you know

Putin taking those nuclear power plants is the only objective in this whole sorry operation that makes any sense. He wants bargaining power for what comes next. Leverage for something much bigger than Ukraine.

It will be a giant mistake if we don't stop him relatively soon while they're at their weakest as he is going to pivot to a much riskier and much grander prize if we don't.
He wants a change in government. Ukraine owed Russia $13billion and the Ukraine government signed a deal with Russia. Our state dept funded a coup that ended that deal and put a pro EU president in the seat. He wasn't going to let that slide. We can put make up on it and tell tales, but as soon as that happened, all of this became inevitable.

My only change in opinion is that he doesn't just want that 1/4 of the east. He wants 1/2.

I will say he's wrong. As for Ukraine, NATO has no role there. They were in Afghanistan because a member (us) was attacked. Ukraine isn't a member. The rest of his post is nearly bizarre. Russia doesn't have the wealth to compete any longer. It is on full display now. Their new killer tanks barely run and they've only afforded to buy a few. Their airforce can't even control Ukraine. Their mighty navy has 1 running aircraft carrier and it quite literally barely runs. The only thing Russia has to worry about is nukes and if they want to die along with the rest of the world, they can push the button but I doubt they are interested in dying too.
Which is why it makes no sense to push for more Nato members. The old Nato could role Russia like a donut minus nukes. More members does nothing but instigate a war.... and lead to more weapon sales to member nations who have to spend 2%

There is a difference between appeasement and not being aggressive. And how many of those countries in the past had 1000's of nukes? You want to test if he'll push the button?

It’s funny-I knew that even if we had a global catastrophe like the one is unfolding, Trump fans STILL would not say, “Screw it-I didn’t vote for him, and he wasn’t my choice, but this is America, and I stand behind my President.” Even rooting for Russia!

Russia is the most valuable country in the world. There are vast resources and what it doesn’t develop at home the Chinese will provide. Pretending the Russians aren’t out to create a broader conflict is burying your head. Thinking Putin doesn’t have the resources is a terrible underestimation.

Btw Russia also has the second largest gold reserve in the world.

What a load of shit.

Do you blow Biden a kiss when you fill up on his approved Russian bought, and paid for gas every time you go to the pump?

Why do you support the Russian war machine, you traitor?

This is driving Putin into China's hand. He and Russians didn't like or want to deal with china. This making them align with them because we are isolating them and leaving them nobody but china.

So Putin waited until Trump was out of office to invade Ukraine because.....??????

Please give a decent answer so I don't have to put you on ignore for being too ignorant to read further post.

Even the guy who stands to profit bigly on our dear leader's idiocy is calling for some sanity. Even he doesn't want to see his country destroyed by irrational radical idiots forcing stupid policies that are doomed to fail.

This is such BS. Biden is pro Ukraine but anti America. If he wants support, open the pipelines and drilling back up. He lost our energy independence, is a credibly alleged sexual assaulter, and has been corrupt for years. And he didn’t win the election. Again what Bullsh*t

Agree with in bold. I have been holding this mindset since the late 70's. If anyone served in the military from the late 70's to the early 90's you would know what I am talking about. Most of our training and focus was about war with Russia and a lessor but just important to me was the threat China presented. I knew how to identify and knew the capabilities of almost all of the Russian aircraft, armored vehicles, and weapons systems because we were given classes on it constantly. For anyone to even think a person like me would side with Russia (not saying you did) is just completely lost in their inability to be objective to the situation. I have always considered them the enemy since I can remember.

In bold is something we as a nation ourselves can't seem to do but would be much better off if we did. Don't forget or try to change the past but, come up with a plan collectively to fix current problems for the future.

Completely wrong here because of your hate for Trump. Trump is not the president now, Biden owns this. Biden is a complete failure as a president. As a nation we can rally around our hate for the Russian invasion and still see the ineptness of the Biden admins past year's failures and his inability to see how his policies are destroying us going forward.

A fundamental difference between then and now is Communism.

Then, they were fighting an ideological war for global communism, seeking world domination for their Marxist religion.

They are no longer in pursuit of such a goal. That honor now goes to China, who fully believe their race and method of governance to be superior to all else, the rightful rulers of the world.

Right, let's join hands and cross the aisle in our war mongering like our distinguished elected representatives here.

WSJ today:

"Every day for the past week, Russian forces have tried to fight their way through this suburb of Kyiv to reach the Ukrainian capital. And every day, Ukrainian troops have forced them to retreat, leaving burning tanks and armored personnel carriers behind.

“We go out to hunt and destroy them,” said Volodymyr, a Ukrainian special-forces team leader, as his squad, armed with a British .308 sniper rifle and British-made antitank weapons, waited for the latest Russian attack. “They certainly didn’t come here expecting that, expecting that we know how to fight.”

The front lines here have largely held fast since the first day of the war, on Feb. 24, when a Russian column pushed in from Belarus to the north. In some places, including the neighboring town of Bucha, the Russians have been pushed back.

“Ukraine is fighting in a way nobody expected, not the Russians and not our Western partners,” said Mykhailo Podolyak, a Ukrainian presidential adviser and member of Kyiv’s delegation at cease-fire talks with Russia. “Kyiv was supposed to have fallen in three days.”

In part, that is because Ukraine has deployed elite special-forces units, trained by the U.S. and allies over the past several years, to defend Kyiv. Armed with British NLAW and American-made Javelin antitank weapons and Stinger antiaircraft missiles, they have helped blunt the Russian advantage in aviation and long-range missiles and artillery.

But Kyiv is also holding because the Russian forces here seem to have stuck to Soviet-style large maneuver tactics, moving in long convoys that are vulnerable to strikes by small reconnaissance units and by Ukraine’s fleet of
Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 armed drones, Ukrainian officers said.

“We’re in shock at how dumb their behavior is,” said another member of the Ukrainian special-forces unit who has been going on missions in the area every night. His unit, he said, had lost two soldiers since the war began nine days ago, and killed more than 60 Russians in recent days. “Now, we mostly focus on hitting their rear, their supply convoys, because if they don’t get fuel, they can’t do anything.”

Morale among Ukrainian defenders was high in Irpin on Friday, even as a Russian attack airplane flew low over a housing block and sounds of artillery rounds landing got closer and closer. Big plumes of black smoke rose to the north and south of town, along other major routes where Russian forces have been trying for more than a week to break into Kyiv.

Cloud cover has hampered Russia’s use of combat helicopters, soldiers here said. But to be prepared in case enemy choppers or attack planes approached, one of the soldiers took a position with a portable antiaircraft missile on his shoulder. Troops here say they operate their own small drones, including some with thermal cameras, to hunt for Russian targets."

Well this is pretty stupid.

I don't trust any gov, including ours.. I spent 68 through 70 in Turkey. The people who were making money off us liked the USA. There were also many pro Russian people. We had 5 or 6 air bases there, all with F-100's armed with nukes and ready to be air borne in two minutes. For those that don't know, parts of Turkey border Russia. At one time we had missiles there, but they were removed as part of the Cuban missile crisis stand down. I spent 2 weeks searching for and then guarding the wreckage of a crashed f-100 in the mountains. The pilot was having fun buzzing a remote village. One time instead of pulling out of a buzz, he miscalculated. The wreckage was scattered over 4 mountains and a valley. The biggest piece of him they found was a section of his head that was still in his helmet. I found a gooey dog tag that was his.

It makes perfect sense. Putin won't attack a NATO member. Run that thru your head a few times.

McGeegor is a total loon and politician wannabe. Putin told Macron just two days ago that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just the East.

Time will tell. Here's the full interview.

He did an interview with Fox last week and Jennifer Griffith came in after and said it would take a full show to address all his distortions. Im not saying she’s right, but that guy is a conspiracy loon like some on here.

Well, if Jennifer Griffith says it's true, it must be so.

Lots of people are loons, that doesn't preclude them from being right. He's also more right about a lot of things than some here too.

What about me saying that I didn’t say she was right did you not understand? If you are going to pout if someone debates your post, go cry inside.

It's not like someone was saying earlier, anything that doesn't pay strict adherence to your chosen media narrative is the equivalent of saying "they're turning the frogs gay!"

Which they are, by the way. (lol)
