Few people think past what's right in front of them. It's weird.
They see Ghadafi killed and think that it just happened one day, not that it was in the planning stages for years. Same goes for the rest of "the Arab spring," Syria, the Balkans, Serbia, WW1, WW2, etc. They have a complete inability to consider that the toppling of regimes and the beginning of a conflict took years of decisive planning and preparation simply because they JUST heard about it. NOTHING in their frame of mindlessness could have happened to lead up to the events before them even if they've read books/articles/stories telling them it's happened in the past.
All that matters, to the brain that is embattled by a million notifications each month, is what is being said about it RIGHT NOW by the person they trust or adore most. Flooding people with useless information leaves little room for reason, because there is only one point of view to choose from. Nothing more can be pondered.
