Russia - Ukraine WAR Warning: Political Discussions

Must be retaliatory measure since Russia put sanctions on a couple of their ally's Hunter Biden and Joe Biden.

"Russia has imposed sanctions against US President Joe Biden, his son, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, other US officials, and “individuals associated with them,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday."

Thank you! You are putting to words what I have been trying to get through to folks here. We are doing fine. The conservative turn towards authoritarianism in the US has baffled me. We have too many people focused on their dang screens and not looking at the world they actually reside in. Maybe it's pandemic stress or whatever, but America is largely working beautifully. We have mostly free markets, we have amazing prosperity and opportunity, people here are free to do almost anything that doesn't hurt anyone else. Why do we complain so much about each other because we take that freedom and want to do something different with it. I love my church, but I understand the same freedom I have to walk in that building is the same freedom someone else has to change their gender. You can't espouse freedom and then bemoan what others do with it. It doesn't work that way.
I suppose we all have our perspective. I see a country being overrun by illegal invaders; beset by uncontrolled debt and spending; where crime is at unprecedented levels; where half the kids come from broken homes; where the virtues of the Founders are derided and attacked; where love of country is not cool.

History shows what will happen to such a country.

Oh bugger. Let the mental gymnastics begin.

Zelenskyy Says Post-war Ukraine Will Emulate Israel, Won’t Be ‘Liberal, European’

Soldiers in 'cinemas, supermarkets, and people with weapons' is Ukraine's future, Zelenskyy tells reporters, as the country's leaders begin to imagine what a precariously post-war Ukraine might look like

Ukraine will become a “‘big Israel' with its own face,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared on Tuesday, indicating that his country intends to emulate the Israeli security state in the wake of Russia’s invasion.

“Ukraine will definitely not be what we wanted it to be from the beginning. It is impossible. Absolutely liberal, European – it will not be like that. It [Ukraine] will definitely come from the strength of every house, every building, every person,” Zelenskyy told members of the Ukrainian media during a briefing.

Has Zelensky not been to Tel Aviv/Haifa?

"(Former Russia Prez Dimitry) Medvedev said: "To change the bloody and full of false myths consciousness of a part of today’s Ukrainians is the most important goal.

"The goal is for the sake of the peace of future generations of Ukrainians themselves and the opportunity to finally build an open Eurasia – from Lisbon to Vladivostok."

Let's get this straight: Russia invaded Ukraine to create peace from eastern R to Portugal. But of course Ukraine are the criminals. LMAO.

False. The fact that you and he believe this only proves that if you did have a formal education, it did not take or it was more in line with basket weaving 101 than actual world knowledge.

Exactly.

When did people cease to understand that choosing to "change your gender" is not the same as forcing others to acknowledge and accept it, or even pay for it? One is a freedom, the other is decidedly not.

When did it become right to force theory as truth in spite of repeated, failed attempts to establish such as truth for decades or a century? An extreme abundance of data alone is not proof, nor is time or money invested, if the end result is that the theory cannot be proven.

When did education falter so significantly that a person with a degree (presumably) in history could come away without an understanding that they can't really know history without leaving the liberal confines of a history education? There is only so much history in textbooks and each "educator" is rewarded not for their neutrality on a subject but their decisive personal choice with regard to their point of view.

Few people think past what's right in front of them. It's weird.

They see Ghadafi killed and think that it just happened one day, not that it was in the planning stages for years. Same goes for the rest of "the Arab spring," Syria, the Balkans, Serbia, WW1, WW2, etc. They have a complete inability to consider that the toppling of regimes and the beginning of a conflict took years of decisive planning and preparation simply because they JUST heard about it. NOTHING in their frame of mindlessness could have happened to lead up to the events before them even if they've read books/articles/stories telling them it's happened in the past.

All that matters, to the brain that is embattled by a million notifications each month, is what is being said about it RIGHT NOW by the person they trust or adore most. Flooding people with useless information leaves little room for reason, because there is only one point of view to choose from. Nothing more can be pondered.

I hear ya, "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!" [winking]

Dollars to doughnuts the vast majority of the posters here weren't even aware that there's already been a war going on in Ukraine before Putin invaded.

You mean before Putin's second invasion.

I would like to subscribe to your zine or newsletter, sir. Been playing 5th edition with some friends. That system is a hot mess. It's what's widely available, and most of the other players never played 2nd or are even aware of it. Playing it is really just a glorified excuse to drink more. 2nd Edition Forgotten Realms and Planescape for me if I had my druthers.

I'm so glad my contribution to this thread was just about AD&D nerddom.

Entropy completes all tasks related to leveling up as the cunning Rogue of the Political Thread!!

I wish i had some type of online DnD presence to offer BUT the ONE DUDE i knew that was planning a twitch channel for our sessions just lost his mind on another player one afternoon and disappeared into the local Appalachian tapestry of quirky and mostly above average folks

It’s a home brew campaign with a very good balance between the storytelling and the mechanics to support game decisions and other events. - all 100% handwritten adventures and world map w/6-7 options for campaign settings

I do have a friend that’s planning to open THE COSMIC CAFE in Middlesboro later this summer - i plan to host DnD sessions there

If you’re ever down this way - check into it
If you happen to live near Winchester let me know and we may be able to work something out there -

Unfortunately, I live out of state (Washington, DC area). I do get home to LexVegas a few to several times each year. Sometime in the near future I'd like to visit Pine Mountain SRP again, which is close to Middlesboro. We'll see...The Cosmic Cafe sounds like a place I might have to check out regardless. /threadjack

Now you know why over the past few days the west has been parroting war crimes.

That is an actual war crime in that video happening in real time.
Like I said before they are both “Ivan” two peas in a pod and zelensky with his wish to emulate Israel has gone off the rails

First time in my lifetime that I've seen Joe Biden and "rock solid intelligence" mentioned in such close proximity. Congrats to Joe.

...oh wait, it said "the intelligence WASN'T rock solid." Nm. Par for the course then. He almost had it...

Who was shutting down civil rights "for their own good"? How the hell you think conservatives are going authoritarianism is baffling. Liberals seem to be against the first, second, forth, fifth, sixth, 8th depending on your crime, 9th, and 14th amendments and are suddenly pro war. If you think you can change your gender at will then you are crazy or magic. DNA doesn't work like that homey.

Innocents die in wars. Been there, seen that. That is one of the things you have to weigh when you decide to enter one.
It’s a terrible deal. Russia should not be there. But when you arm civilians and urge them to fight, the enemy is not gonna sit back and wait to be killed. There are no easy answers here. I’m afraid we’re headed for worldwide conflict.

My corrupt criminal didn't invade another country. My corrupt criminal isn't known to have committed war crimes but you keep throwing out hope after hope that he did. Pretty easy to back mine. You come on here & only post negatives by/of Ukraine. Net, it's pretty easy to figure which you back regardless of claims otherwise.

Oh yea, of course there are two sides. Stating the obviously true is the way to project credibility onto following nonsense. But keep trying.
So you haven't seen the video of Ukrainian troops with Russian prisoners? Its against the law to embarrass or intimidate a prisoner publicly. They also called the parents of dead soldiers on their phones and told their parents that they left their bodies in a street for dogs to eat... And technically he did invade another country. The 2 break away provinces wanted out and voted to leave. Zelensky kept them by killing people. Zelensky is a multimillionaire now too. President pays well... And Putin is worse but Zelensky is no saint.
