Russia - Ukraine WAR Warning: Political Discussions

WSJ today:

"As Russia’s war on Ukraine enters its sixth week, the script has flipped. Russia’s advance has stalled, and Ukraine now wants to go on offense to push back Russian forces from the land they’ve taken. But the country needs U.S. and NATO help to do it, and it seems the Biden Administration is reluctant to provide those weapons and intelligence."

"The peace terms Russia is demanding in negotiations suggest that such a consolidation in Ukraine’s east and a long-term occupation is now Russia’s goal. He’ll have won the long-sought “land bridge” between the Crimea and the Donbas. Mr. Putin could claim victory, pause for some years while he re-arms, continue trying to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and otherwise make political, cyber and other trouble for a Western-leaning Ukraine government.

That’s why Mr. Zelensky now wants to go on the offensive. The more territory his forces can win back, the stronger position his country will have at the bargaining table. The experience of Russia’s behavior in Georgia in 2008 and eastern Ukraine in 2014-15 is that Mr. Putin doesn’t give up territory once his troops occupy it. The result is another “frozen conflict,” with the country he has invaded weaker than before and more vulnerable to more Russian mayhem.

The Ukrainians need heavier weapons to go on offense, including tanks and fighter aircraft like the MiG-29s that Poland wants to provide under the political cover of NATO. It also needs intelligence on Russian troop movements and vulnerabilities in the east. Now is the time to help Ukraine take the offensive. Reports of demoralized Russian forces are more frequent, including defectors who have taken equipment with them.

Net of this to me is that Biden doesn't want U to push R out of their gains, which many apparently think U can if they could act now, & are happy to wait 5-10--20 years till R decides to take more. Me, I'd give U more weapons now & bleed R dry. Apparently not to be.

Somebody mentioned lack of Russian casualty pics earlier in this thread. Here's some footage. Apparently, Ivan is horrible about recovering his own KIA. Read Hostomel airport is littered with dead RUS airborne soldiers. Russian troops left them there when they moved out. Disgusting. Morale killer.

No because they’re not the ones bombing maternity wards and murdering civilians. I think I know who the bad guy is ( the guy who almost EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY IN THE WORLD thinks is the bad guy).
Sure you can. They are the same friggin people. Just because there are borders doesn’t stop the culture: language; shared history, religion, etc. That’s all I was saying. It’s brother killing brothers. They are all ancient Scythians. Kyiv is where the RUSSIAN Orthodox Church began. I used to teach with a guy who told everyone he was Russian. We got into talking about the Soviet Union and what life was like there and he told me he was actually Ukrainian. He just says Russian because he doesn’t have to explain to ignorant people where Ukraine is. Leónid breznhv was Ukrainian and ruled all of the Soviet Union for nearly 20 years.

The two countries are linked as closely as can be. The Arab world is the same and while culture is shared borders have to be respected. Sovereignty should be respected.

I’m not making a comment on who the “bad guy” is. I don’t think anyone who unjustly takes lives can be considered good but that is a wide diverse pot of eastern and western leaders. There will be worse than Putin. History has shown that. America has a short attention span but the countries who were once parts of empires that have broken up, they all have long memories.

Are you daft? Killing an attacking army is not genocide.
This is what you said

“These Russians all need to die. I have zero sympathy for any of them at this point.”

You advocated genocide. It’s clear you can’t differentiate between a government and its people. Your mindset is what has fueled this culture of ethnocentric bs.

Why did the Russians leave humanitarian routes open, then?

Ukrainian refugees, however, posted that the UA were conscripting all men in that age range, though. Killing those that would flee or refuse to fight.

We won't know the truth of all of this, if ever, until 10 yrs from now.
There is no way thats true.

I said "these Russians", not Russians you genius. I'm sick of their war crimes. Every last Russian taking up arms against Ukrainians in Ukraine needs to die. You're an idiot.

Walk it back, clarify it whatever. You said it. The real idiot is one who doesn’t understand the context of his own statements. You’re entire take on the situation is rooted in your anger and fear. You don’t take the time to really become educated on what’s happening and that’s sad. You just read and regurgitate propaganda. It’s you and about 2-3 others who have no idea what life is like outside of the American (USA) bubble. Good luck to you sir I’m finished with this discourse

I agree that you'll never know the truth. You're not capable of it. jHc.
