^Now THAT really sounds like something a commie would say.

(Question for thought: How can an economic system have a goal? Economic systems aren't sentient beings capable of having goals.)

Regarding Cuba and the Berlin Wall, communism isn't the same as socialism.

So you're left with Venezuela. Was it socialism by itself that upended the country, or perhaps a number of factors including widespread corruption?

Why haven't the other so-called socialist countries had the same problems?

You determined that I'm a socialist by a two word question I posted? What else can you tell about me? Hair color? Weight? Religious views? What kind of pet I had as a kid?

Dont leave us guessing...are you a socialist or not? No point in being vague.

I was educated in the public school system, so yes, I have partaken in socialist systems and have benefited from them.

Does that answer your question?

Anybody else in here a product of a socialism-based educational system?

I'm guessing all of you who hate socialism must have gone to private schools and must have sent your children to private schools as well.

Great stuff. Driving over there is a cheap thrill if you're covered under SOFA.

Remember General Brailsford's armored BMW? That car was stout! Door was as heavy as an M-113 rear hatch.
Chocolate thunder as we called him. His son works as a GS-15 at the Ammunition dump in Mcallister OK. Ran into a few of his underlings a while back.

European countries aren't socialist, they have a social welfare state that provides things... at a cost... Europeans are poorer than you are. Europeans basically decided as a whole that they are willing to take care of their losers, that even the incompetent and lazy among them should have their basic necessities met because otherwise they'd be angry.

You (presumably) are not such people. Your ancestors when they realized they were out of potatoes they got on a ship and left to go somehwere they could go grow some, not waited aroudn for a European welfare state to care for them. The Bernie bros, the disaffected beta males staying home playing xbox with breaks only to get a fresh mountain dew, blaming all their problems on rich people still exist in Europe and you don't really have it as much better as you'd think. Your anger has nothing to do with what you think it does, and you wouldn't be any happier without student debt.

Real socialism fails because it has to fail, it's baked into the cake, and if you read the philosophy critically you'll know why and why it's ultimate goal is and always will be total socialism (communism). Democratic socialism are socialists who realize for the time being they have to live with other people whose views they'll have to tolerate, for now.

If this country ever becomes more like the rest of the world, and not the rest of the world more and more Americanized, you'll look back at this time of the last 40 years or so asthe veritable golden age that it is.

Noone tied together milk jugs and risked their life to float from Florida to Cuba. Or to climb the wall from west to east Berlin.

Venezuela went from a booming economy to people starving. Endless examples across history. None in the other direction.

If it's so bad here, why do people risk their life, in numerous ways, to get here?

If socialism was truly that superior, you and those like would just move to a socialist country. Yet here you are. Because you don't really want socialism. You just want something for nothing. And socialism happens to be the buzzwordiest vehicle you know how to repeat.
It is this logic that escapes me as to anyone over here wanting socialism. I just can't wrap my mind around why anyone one would give up what we have. But, I swear to you guys (Screw you morons who type this internet tough guy crap) I may be 62 but, as long as I can pull the trigger I will oppose any left leaning fascist socialist movement you dip shits bring. Try me, and believe me, there are a lot more like me. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT A SOCIALIST/COMMUNIST PRESIDENT.

Capatism with social programs works quite well if not pushed too far. So that wasnt the question. Are you a socialist? Public schools are not in any way a defining part of socialism. If you dont know the difference, perhaps you should do some more research before making a final decision as to what you are and what socialism is...

I went to public (socialism) school and it sucked just like a socialist government would in the US. My daughter now goes to private school.

Socialism rewards losers at the expense of us winners.

Communism and socialism are nearly identical in terms of economic application if you're the producing individual.

In both scenarios the producer is being robbed. Where it goes barely makes a difference. In fact, economically in some ways socialism is worse because the money is taken from a producer and given to a non producer.

As between the producer and all the world, the producer has the superior right to the money.

If capitalism is so bad - people wouldn't risk their life to get here.

The rest of your post is non sequitur beard stroking nonsense from someone who's trying to avoid the issue.

Tell us more about capatism before you tell me to do some more research.

Sorry your school sucked. Mine got me into a university with a full scholarship. Does that make me a loser or a winner like you?

That the government provides some tax payer funded public goods and services is not an argument for socialism.

there simply is none... it’s an economic argument and right then and there becomes an oxymoron that only makes sense to people who want it to make sense.

no one, given what we know now, promoting socialism in this day and age should be taken seriously.

Lucky you. Depends on what you did with that degree. Regardless if you are successful or not I am sure you were surrounded by a bunch of scrubs slowing the learning and creating grade curves. Public schools are required to cater to the lowest common denominator because the government is involved.

Socialism is no different.
