You know, I hear you, and agree to an extent. But there's a helluva difference in Woods' excoriating a fellow actor or politician, and Jackson insulting an entire class of people.

Fair point, I see the difference.

FWIW I really dislike Samuel L. Jackson as an actor.

I agree with this. Many celebs are outspoken lefties, Woods is an outspoken conservative. There is a definite bias (Im talking about myself) that I have a chuckle reading Woods Twitter but cant stand reading say a Chris Evans Twitter.

With that said, my favorite celebrity/entertainers are the ones that just avoid the subject all together. The Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Kurt Russell and so on. It seems like whenever these guys are asked about politics, its like pulling teeth out of them. They clearly dont care to answer and just are looking to change the subject. Id take celebrities/entertainers like those, over the celebrities preaching stuff, even if I agree with what theyre preaching.

Agree. If I'm looking to be entertained, I want entertained. Not lectured. I too prefer people who stay in their lane.

Loved his videos from the beginning and predicted then that he'd be a star. Definitely proving that so far.

Yeah I agree those white collar criminals shouldn't be in prison. All they did was embezzle millions. A little embezzling never hurt anybody. Weed dealers though, get their asses to jail!
Be glad when Obama, Rangle, Hillary, Waters and those other pedophiles, rapist, embezzlers, murderers go to prison won't you?

the college bribe stuff is stupid. The whole world knows money will get you into any college no matter how stupid you are. That's the only reason Trump and GW got into anything higher than community college. Most rich people do it completely out in the open. I guess if your new rich or only half rich you have to go through middle men to get it done. All the Ivy league schools are full of rich idiots.

"I would not nominate a Supreme Court justice unless he or she could be confirmed by two-thirds—two-thirds—of the United States Senate."
How he would know a nominee would get 2/3 votes beforehand escapes me. But you'd need an Amendment to change it from 50+1. Not that I disagree. But I think all the SCJ's would died before you'd ever get a 2/3 vote the way the Dims are crazed.

Unless you want to live in woke Jefferson County where your kids are randomly subject to being bused to a school on the other side of the county regardless of what part of the county you choose to live.
As I said, move - in this case out of JC.

What a dumb take. "The college admissions scam is about inequality, Trump is dumb and got into school, free college to everyone, let's all reconsider socialist policies!"

There was regulation and oversight at every step of this shitstorm. You should not be able to get through sitting supervised with a teacher every day with bullshit grades. You should not be able to fake performance on a proctored exam with a licensed test proctor. The snowboarding coach shouldn't be able to influence your admission if you don't snowboard. The female snowboarding coach should have no influence on admissions if there aren't enough female snowboarders to field a female snowboarding team. Even with the coach's support you should not be able to get through an admissions board, who is presumably trained to find bullshit with bullshit.

What part of this insanity will more regulation solve? It just took one honest person along the way to reject the money for integrity. By the way, this is just to get your kid into a college. Can you imagine the bribes that fly around in DC? How many Congresspeople are turning that shit down?

CA is a p-poor example to use to make any reasonable case.

But it's a perfect example on why raising taxes doesn't necessarily lead to better spending. It should be an eye opener for anyone saying, "our roads are crap, I'm cool if they add a little tax to gas so they can improve the roads." They will find other ways to waste that money on something.

Does anyone on here actually pay for NYT or WaPo? They seem to be the only sites I ever get linked to that consistently have a working paywall.

98% of the time I only clicked the link because I wasn't aware it was NYT or WaPo and I'm curious as to the loony toon drivel that's in the headline.

Oh well. I guess I'll have to settle for the loony toons posting the drivel verbatim in this thread.

Kids from the backgrounds of dysfunctional families that bring that dysfunction to school inhibit everyone from learning. FACT. Yes, I want my grandkids to know the difference from buckling down to learn & being a distraction. FACT.

That you don't believe that kids deserve to be in a save space at school & coming/going tells me don't give an ish about kids of any kind. You must love school shootings.

My solution is for parents to be allowed to send kids where they want & not just where the politicians & teachers unions tell them they have to go. That has never failed. As is, the only way to achieve that is to move to where the school is you want the kids in.
No problem with anything you've said. Maybe another solution: Administrators become creative and find a way to effectively separate kids that comply with generally accepted standards of conduct which include respect for others, decency, etc... from those that don't.
Before retiring, we began toying with an idea of forming night schools. We'd simply tell kids and their parents what the accepted standards for behavior were. If their kids chose not to comply, they would go to school from 3:00 until 10:00 pm. It's not our problem how their kids are monitored during the day. Put the ball in their court. Does not matter what their problems were; does not matter what their family problems were. Simply a choice on their part based on how they chose to behave.
