First paragraph to a piece in The Atlantic. Can't tell quite which stage the Dems are in right now....

"A month after the election, Trevor Noah, the host of The Daily Show, published an op‑ed in The New York Times that sought to position himself and his show as instruments of healing in a broken land. It was called “Let’s Not Be Divided, Divided People Are Easier to Rule,” and it zapped around progressives’ inboxes and Facebook feeds like a digital balm of Gilead. It was a reminder that we were not, in those fevered early weeks, being our best selves: “Instead of speaking in measured tones about what unites us, we are screaming at each other about what divides us.” How true that was, and—one might churlishly observe—what a sea change from Noah’s tone during the campaign, when he berated the Republican candidate for tweeting with “those fat little tiny fingers of yours” and for trying to think with “that stupid head,” and when he advised the candidate that “maybe you should look in the mirror, asshole.”

O'Reilly got himself fired. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think it's safe to say that this was not an isolated incident, given the payouts Fox had made to other accusers. He was brazen, and thought the rules didn't apply to him. Just like Roger Ailes, he learned otherwise.

He's just a voice. The heart of conservatism still beats strong. Let's move on.

I agree. I just think this story is ridiculous. He called her hot chocolate while not looking at or facing her. Lol

Doubtful that it's RIP Fox News...

Tucker and Erik Bolling take over for Megyn Kelley and O'Reilly, the channel got younger and more conservative with those replacements.

And one thing the power on both sides can agree with is the love of the almighty $...Fox is beating out everyone and Murdoch will love getting even richer.

Murdoch family is pretty liberal throughout and always have been. They don't let personal politics interfere with a successful business model. Look at the history of their print businesses. TV is just an extension of the same formula.

I agree that education starts in the home, but many other countries are doing it better than we are - would like to close that gap.

BECAUSE other countries don't have to educate all the kids. We have the best education system in the world for the masses. The problem is that we can't "cull" certain kids at certain levels like they do in countries like Germany. We had an exchange student from Germany. Very bright. She told me that around grade 5 they make a cut then again around grade 8 or 9. About a third of the kids get to continue moving toward an academic program/degree. I asked her what percentage of the kids in our high school would be in her high school in Germany, she said only about 1/3.
Proof of this is the fact that many private schools outperform public schools. I KNOW they don't have equal access to quality teachers simply because they can't pay salaries that public schools can pay. The difference? 1. Parents that care enough to spend $ for their kids' education 2. Private schools can remove kids "at-will". I know this to be the case for as a school administrator, I had to accept their "cast-offs".

Education needs a total overhaul. Now, it caters to the least common denominator which causes talent to be held back. Really, it's very socialist in concept.

This isn't to say the least common denominators don't need education. They do. There just needs to be a much more effective way of stopping the restraint we have on kids that excel.

I don't know that school vouchers is the answer. But it's at least a step in the right direction.

A little levity for the morning: I went to the records office in the building I work and one of the ladies there was talking about the rain we are supposed to get today. She complained that she knew it was coming but no one told her about what time. I said that the light stuff was coming in about noon and the heavy stuff was supposed to hit at about 3 or 4. She then ask "what is heavy?" I said "an elephant" she then responded, "You're an ass".... I thought it was funny.

LMAOOOOOOOO

Barry O is making his first post-presidency appearance in Chicago.

Boy is that rich. Some fn nerve.

Mfer did more to help foreign ass children then he did to help his children of Chicago. F that guy.

And our entire govt. if there's one thing they all agree on, it's that foreign issues are a lot more important than what's going on in our cities.

He's talking to children about "community organizing and civic engagement". Gotta do better, kids. Gotta get out there and organize your community, gotta get out there and vote.

Let's face it: he is, and always has been, a complete joke.

The guy couldn't string 3 words together without saying "...uh, uh, uh...". Surprised he actually spoke and was able to convey a coherent message without a teleprompter.
