Honestly? No. I don't see how friends and family, expressing support for their loved ones that served in the military, fosters dangerous cultural undertones. As I said, there was absolutely NOTHING political about what I attended. I think the folks there would have been offended by it. I know that "I" would have been.

It's fetishization of the military for no reason. Even setting aside what they choose to spend their charity on, those trips to the monuments could be done without any fanfare at airports. I'm all for supporting veterans as people. But like meeting random strangers at an airport to cheer for them like it's a returning championship sports team? It's just weird man. We don't do that for lumberjacks or roofers who die for our country at higher rates. It's cringe, like thanking someone for their service.
