Explain what you believe that you say you signed. Non Compete? How exactly do you "compete" at Heavenly Ham? Were you a manager of a store? Outside sales person who called on customers soliciting corporate customers for HH? I frankly think there is a great deal of mis and disinformation about what a non-compete is. Confidentiality agreement is not a NC agreement.

Again it’s been 23 years, but I recall it saying I couldn’t open a competing business within a certain time within a certain distance from the store. Obviously as I was 17 at the time I wasn’t too worried about it

And to take it even further-

Throughout history, which "cultures" (people) were enslaved and by whom were they taken captive and or sold?

Was it the weaker nations and tribes that were taken captive, or the strong? I'm not talking about the strength of the individuals taken captive, but the nations to which they belonged. Was it those who defended their borders well, or those that chose not to because of other pursuits?

Israel and Judah chose fleshly lusts and gratification, as well as an all inclusive attitude before they became slaves to the northern peoples of Assyria and Babylon among others.

The Greeks went the same direction eventually and were overtaken by the Romans who went the same direction as their nation grew wealthy, and then people all over the world took turns taking slaves, selling slaves, buying slaves, and becoming slaves. They were betrayed by their neighboring tribes, some that were only a few generations removed from being one tribe.

The point is that the way Balaam told the king (that wanted to destroy the Israelites as they left Egypt) to corrupt them and make them easy to conquer is THE SAME way it has occurred for 4 thousand years for most of the planet. Get them to value sex over parenting. Ritual over substance. Wealth over satisfaction. Ease and entertainment over hard work. Get them to turn their backs on each other and the things that made them a strong nation.

When that happens they will destroy themselves, and then it's just a matter of their enemies gathering up the pieces
Whew! Good thing history is like lightening and doesn't repeat itself in the same place.

I agree, but I think our chances are very slim. When I was your age, I felt I saw the direction we were headed, but didn't think I'd live to see it.
I'm 63 and I've seen the direction we're going for many years. It was always easy to see the pathways to the dystopian societies portrayed in books and movies. I was young but I paid close attention to Watergate. Only had 3 channels back then so it wasn't easy to ignore. Now I know that the CIA was involved just like I thought it was back then.

Our life is not a computer program, but it is an illusion.

I figured you were several years younger. I am almost 76.

This is true of just about every war every country has ever fought. No government is ever going to admit they are losing a war until the bitter end. The part so ****ed up about Afghanistan is that we are still there knowing for 10+ years it is a complete failure at every level.

Desantis won’t do that, he’ll get right in line and it’ll go right back to the uniparty.

Hell, Jeb Bush is appearing with him this weekend for a fundraiser.

Haha one good way to kill a career.

If RD allows that dufus to be at his campaigns, then he’s toast. Toast. Burnt toast.

LOL. Let's look at this because this rumor comes out about once or twice a year and now Trump and his minions are throwing it out. It was used in 2018 when DeSantis ran for governor. Then it came out again in 2022 when he was running for re-election Democrats used it then and now I guess Trump wants to use it now. Now it is 2023 and here we go again.

FACTS

Tampa Bay Times headline saying Jeb Bush organizing fundraisers for Ron DeSantis is from September 2018.

"A Tampa Bay Times headline which says former Republican Florida governor Jeb Bush is organizing a fundraiser for current Governor Ron DeSantis was published in September 2018, when DeSantis was running for governor. But some social media users have shared this headline online in November 2022, making it appear recent by cutting off the publication date from the screenshot.

The Tampa Bay Times headline reads: “Jeb Bush to help Ron DeSantis raise money next week in Coral Gables.” The sub-headline reads: “The fundraiser is chaired ($50K donation) and co-chaired ($25K donation) by Bush, lobbyist Rodney Barreto, and University of Miami trustee Manny Kadre.”

DeSantis has been reported to be considering a presidential run in 2024, along with former President Trump.

One user who shared the headline on Nov 6 said: “DeSantis is cozying up with the America Last Bush Clan... Money talks. No more of the Bush family!”

Recycled Headline From 2018

Original Headline 2018

I get it that most who support Trump do not like our governor and that is OK. He is a big boy and is use to false narratives and people trying to tear him down. That is politics. Heck he has one of the most liberal presses in the nation doing it every day. The St Pete Times, Miami Herald. Tampa Times to name a few so it goes. They rejoice when Trump starts false rumors and attacks him. They cheer when Trump calls DeSantis a globalist or groomer.

Personally I want to keep him as our governor because things are changing down here for the better. We are fast becoming the most conservative state in America and RED. I want to keep it that way. So if he never sees Washington DC again I will be happy. FLORIDA FIRST. Let the feds find somebody else to kick around.

I do like Desantis, but I don’t trust him anymore than I trust you.

I didn’t say anything about last November, you simply went to Google and that’s the first thing you found. I said this weekend.

Someone put a non-compete clause in a contract they sent me before I worked for them on a trial basis. A friend let me use his Adobe software to edit the file. Since I had already been doing the job for which they solicited my employment for years, why would I sign a non-compete? That's stupid. I removed it.

They never read the contract. I signed it, they signed it. I gave them a shot, but they were completely incompetent, so after a couple months I turned in my notice, and went back to working for myself again. They thought they had me and had their attorney call me and tell me I couldn't go back to working for myself in the same industry.

I told them they couldn't enforce one as I had been working in the industry already for years, and they taught me and trained in me in nothing new the entire 2 months. They said they'd see me in court. I said "ok" and laughed, "THIS will be fun when I counter-sue you. How much do you think the judge will award me for this harrassment?"

After messing with them for a little while, I told them they "should read their contracts before they sign them." Never heard from them again. I should have kept my mouth shut and let them take me to court.
So you were in an outside sales capacity and not a cashier like sleepy Joe lies about. Just giving you a job is not normally good enough for the judge to enforce a NC agreement. It does depend on the state. TN is tougher than KY. They usually have to give you something more than a job.

Not outside sales so much, though that was part of the things I had to do sometimes, but definitely not a cashier. Owned all my own equipment, system, self designed employee and quality control manuals, and software, had my own business model, and customer base. There wasn't anything new they could teach me except how not to do it right. They promised a lot and under-delivered on almost every level.

I've got the best non compete story.

Signed one when I started working at a fortune 10 company based out of Pennsylvania. 7 years later covid causes a reorganization and a 35% drop in the sales force. The new mapped out territory overlapped another territory, so both me and the guy from that territory had to interview to get the ONE new position that would cover both territories.

Although I had been in the company 7 years, the other guy 1, and I was the number one ranked member of the team of 8, and a top ten ranked member of the entire force of 120, my new boss, who hired the other guy, pulled the strings to get him the job.

Needless to say I was shocked, but I was given a severance package and an end date. A month before my last day, I found out one of our main competitors was hiring for the same exact position. After interviewing with them, I was offered the position and expected to start with them as soon as I finished with my old company.

Somehow or another, my old company managed to remind me that I signed a non compete and that they would have to approve the new position I would be taking. I guess I had no thought that they might actually enforce it, but sure enough they did. Even though I was let go for a company reorganization and not for cause, they told me I would not be allowed to take that new position with the new company.

Unbelievably unfair if you ask me, but I did not have the money or desire to fight it in court. I quickly got another position, but I will probably always wish I had fought it.

One positive was that I found out both my old boss and the guy that got the job were both gone from the company within a year.
Did you accept the severance package as part of the NC. That is usually the hook.

People like Mitt Romney & other supporters of the Biden regime are telling us that Biden took the proper action by not shooting down the spy balloon until it was no longer over land....... Someone said that by letting it cross over the U.S. from west coast to east coast spying all along the way & then shooting it down. Was like sacking the quarterback after the game was over.

OK, no problem. He is much more conservative than Trump and tackles issues Trump would run from like. Like CRT. I look at results in a politician and I like the results he brings my state. Truth be told I want him to stay here for another four years as governor. You can trust that.

He is much more like Bush conservative than Trump, I'll give you that. There is a reason the establishment Republicans are solidly behind him.
Maybe he would get to DC and completely screw them, but I doubt it.

It is sort of a crazy situation that DeSantis with all of the stuff that he is doing with education does not meet the litmus test of many on here. But I guess that's the current climate.

I don't like everything he's done here in Florida but he is obviously extremely smart. He may try to run away from (or hide) his Yale/Harvard pedigree but I think that's something to be proud of. Too many of the more vocal Republicans are barely educated (Boebert, MTG). Maybe that appeals to some on the far right, but most Americans want their president to be the smartest guy in the room.

Yes. Their energy prices are 4X higher than last year.
FALSE. NG price in Europe was way higher before NS blown up & lower now than in years.

False. Most Americans as you call them (more along the lines of maybe half) are dumb as hell. You and they voted for two of the dumbest people in the nation for president. You guys seriously cannot have an ounce of intelligence if you actually think they won.

What a sad existence it must be to believe that everyone is out to get you and has it rigged against you. What a defeatist attitude.

Why did you tell them? Or did they find out another way?

Non-competes are bogus. I'm fine with NDAs if you don't want your 'secret sauce' recipe shared but preventing me from working somewhere else is bogus.

WHEN are people going to REALLY wake up and realize the R party doesn't give 2 SHTS about what happened in 2020. They really don't. The less they talk about it, the more likely (they think) that they'll be allowed to stay elected.
Isn’t the hearing about Twitter and social media about election integrity?

In many states, if I recall correctly, a non-compete offered after someone has the job requires new consideration to be enforceable. In essence, they need to pay you for the clause or give you some other form of consideration.

Should be, but won't be.

Wow, even talking to Jeb Bush or anyone in that family seems like treason after all they've done to this country and its people
I think it’s odd to dismiss a candidate based on such affiliation. I guess that is a great way to dismiss every candidate and remain indignant. Trump has affiliations that would likewise dismiss him. Having a broad base of support is not a bad thing. Again, an executive who gains a broad base of support is not a bad thing. Ronald Reagan appealed to a very broad base when he crushed Mondale. I don’t understand dismissing such characteristics.

At least someone is finally admitting that's the extreme way they think. People who do the right things, sacrifice selfish desires in order to excel, and don't indulge and coddle their children and friends can't POSSIBLY be doing the right things and that can't POSSIBLY be why they are successful.
The people on that panel who seem aghast at the idea that traditional values can be healthy are delusional and have swallowed an ugly pill. I know that the lefties here like to push back and act like what I said somehow precludes other foundations that lead to what would be deemed healthy, but I am not precluding other possible paths, just saying what that guy said is not false. The idea that the two aghast people would cringe at the idea of children out of wedlock being a negative factor is pure delusion. The nuclear family is not statistically bad for the health of people. And, from evolutionary and sociological perspectives, that makes sense.

The Republican establishment did what they could to undermine the cleanup Trump was trying to do in Washington. They fully supported the democrats going after Trump.

As great of a job as Desantis has done in Florida, it makes some of us to nervous to see him seemingly getting closer to the establishment.

Ultimately it’s framed as Desantis vs Trump, but it’s not about those two men. It’s a worry that a challenger will buddy up with the establishment, then his independence and ability to keep schools open, tell corporations to shove their woke shit up their asses, ignore lies about his policies, etc. goes out the window when he’s beholden to the oligarchs that put him in power.

Trump was the closest thing to independent we had on the national stage. As he buddies up to McCarthy, Graham, etc. he’s making a lot of people second guess.

In 2024 the democrat establishment will select a candidate. I’d like the Republican voters to put up an R candidate the establishment doesn’t like (because he or she will shake up Washington).

We need Nightwish to explain that laughing at the Pelosi attack is the same as the attacks the right have been taking since 2016.
This second NJ congressperson appears to be the victim of a mentally ill employee. Is there evidence his politics played a role?
