No hidden meaning in that quote... although on today's call research is starting to see value in long term bonds because we think rates are close to peaking because growth is slowing... which means the next step is... you guessed it... recession.

Yellen is already using the old phrase "soft landing"... which really means "We've screwed the pooch and can't fix it".
Thanks for the follow up.

I know I don’t post much, and then usually nonsensical. However, I do try to pay attention to quite a few people.

There is a broad spectrum of knowledge and experience around here. 🙂

I thought of ALL the lefties you would appreciate accuracy the most. Unfortunaly, not. You must be too deep in your hatred to see what happened ... ppl (humans wbo never had any human rights anywhere around the world) were suddenly acknowlwdged to have these human rights. This changed things in a positive directiion. (IIRC ironically, it was the north that objected to slaves being xounted as a full person for ENUMERATION purposes. I could be wrong on the basis of the norths objection, but i think im correct.)

I could take more time to state it eloquently, but im dealing w a parent dying. Believe what you will...

Sorry to read about your parent. Lost both of mine 6 months apart...Prayers up your way..

Looking on the bright side, if not for Biden I would have never learned some gas pumps stop at $100.
I used to own an RV. I learned that limit under obama. Led me to never use and eventually sell that guzzler. iirc, gas was near 4 per gallon and it got 5 mpg. So, i kept thinking every mile when i drove it, "there goes another dollar".

Really was a buzzkill lol

The victim gets their race mentioned but not the perpetrator.

I am anxiously awaiting who it must have been.

Inflation is now at the same pace as wage growth so you aren't gaining anything. The new budget if put in place in march will bump inflation up a few more ticks. Add in the rapid increases in insurance costs and your losing money. But at least the corporations each got a few billion, they swimming in money.

I'm at a point in my life where I don't give a damn what the radicals say. Nothing surprises me anymore no matter how outrageous they become. Clips from The View, CNN, MSNBC, Hollywood, New York Times, etc., really don't bother me because I know what's coming. Time to block these people out. Not worth my time.

So you put us all on ignore and live in the blissful ignorance of an echo chamber. Remind me who the snowflakes afraid of the free marketplace of ideas are again?
Nah, people are just sick of you frauds constantly lying and never engaging in a good faith debate. You get refuted constantly and you just blithely move on to the next bullshit subject and never take the L. Ad nauseum is exhausting and you're incapable of learning anything since you're just a determined skeptic. In short, guys like you are a waste of time.

These people are so GD stupid. Such zombies.

Nothing existed before three weeks ago apparently. 😂 Their base just downloads the latest talking point and that’s it. Never the Democrats fault ever. Just whatever Dems say is the gospel.

It’s all Putin now. Just like nothing else existed before Trump except for “racism.” 😂

Contained? Russia was running a guerilla war the entire presidency and moving troops into other Baltic areas while they built up Crimea shipyards. Russia was also busy trying to pretend that they weren't being decimated by their fake vaccine. Neither side has made any actual moves yet so we are at the same level of "containment" as when fat cheeto left. The most likely scenario is putin will see that Ukraine isn't worth the trouble. Installing a puppet regime like he had before is a much cleaner and cheaper solution. The Russian economy has been shit for 8+ years now and Sabre rattling is always good for keeping russians as calm 🐑.

Trump was containing Russia about as well as his depends were containing his pants shitting.

Amazing how all it took to turn Ronald Reagan Republicans into frothing hippy tree hugging anti-war protestors was a carnival barking bankrupt New York real estate swindler that has cheated everyone he's ever done business with. Talk about selling yourselves cheap. Fake as a Trump diploma, turns out.

But hey, make love not war! Groovy man! Tell us what the man is REALLY up to. LOL.

For me, it was Obama that turned me into a bit of an isolationist. With Bush and 9/11, I was young and fully on board. As I grew up, I realized the extent of the PATRIOT ACT and the unbelievable expansion of the surveillance state by Obama, while droning US citizens without due process.

Now, we pivoted overnight from corporate America, big tech, the US government, big media and a compliant populace marching lock step and censoring dissenting opinion regarding covid, to those same organizations and people marching lock step on Ukraine.

Mostly I feel bad for the American people, the Ukrainian people and the Russian people who are suffering the fallout of the decisions of their corrupt leaders.

I appreciate the attempt at a real answer.

The United States has the greatest, fairest, most opportunistic form of Government the world has ever known, warts and all. It is far from perfect, but it is the best mankind is capable of forming and keeping.

Right now, today, those same ideals that brought us here to form our country are being fought and died for in Ukraine by the Ukrainian people struggling to keep what we take for granted. In Russia it is a 15 year jail sentence for what we are here doing right now in this thread.

Yes, I stand with my country and the people and Government of Ukraine against Putin, Russia, and his Chinese allies. My stance does not mean Ukraine nor the United States are perfect, it means that the values of the United States are my values as well and they are also the same ones Ukrainians are bravely fighting and dying for as we chat here, safely in our homes.

When the smoke is cleared and Putin defeated, it will be time for us to address what is wrong here at home in our politics. I personally believe if we don't unite in the center against the extremes on both sides then we are undone, but that time is not now.

So if in your eyes that makes me "naive" or a "rube" for believing in my country then I am guilty as charged. What I will not be is a person on the sidelines cheering on the enemy under one pretense or another. This is a simple choice and thankfully for all of you there are no jail sentences awaiting your decisions on whether or not to continue your cheer leading of Putin, Russia, and China against Ukraine.

Well if it had been a white man, his race would be plastered all over every media article. If the perps race isn’t mentioned, it’s a dead giveaway.
Back in the 80s (was living in Atlanta) the Atlanta Journal Constitution (left wing rag) made the decision and announced it in an editorial that they were no longer going to print the race of a suspect in a crime. Stupid then, stupid now. Especially if the police want/need 'Joe Public' to keep an eye out and call in tips.

What makes you a naive rube is thinking people who are not fully supporting the current mainstream narrative are somehow supporting Russia or are anti-American.

There’s a hell of a lot of nuance, and the best you could do was come up with some lame comments about a New York real estate swindler.

What makes you a naive rube is buying completely into the mainstream corporate narrative every step of the way without exercising critical thought. I’m sure your positions on Covid fall directly in line with your positions on Trump and Ukraine.

There’s a genocide going on in China, but you’ll never be told to focus on it, so it will continue into perpetuity. That’s the problem. Your so focused on the popular narrative you’re told to support, but you won’t look behind the curtain.

Ah, the critical thought person. How do you flatter yourself.
