My daughter’s science teacher told the class two weeks ago that he was going to continue masking, because he didn’t want to make students feel uncomfortable.

I told her to tell him that his mask made her uncomfortable.

Well, it never got to that because the district changed its rules for teachers after the CDC changed the rules again and teachers were also allowed to go mask free.

So, on Tuesday, he told the class that he “followed science” and the science told them that due to low transmission, masks were no longer required.

What a clown.

Anyway, if a dangerous virus is out there, why would the level of transmission make a lick of difference to you, as to whether you wear a mask, or not? The case count in the schools remains roughly the same each week. It is out there. And if the masks worked, why would you drop them, and “increase your risk” of catching a dangerous virus?

So, my wife and I are visiting our son in college this weekend. We took him to one of our favorite places for breakfast this morning. The food and service were very good as usual.

When we got the check, there was a line item for “Supply Chain Surcharge”. It was 8.5% assessed prior to sales tax.

Thankfully I had cash in my wallet; I gave the server a cash tip and put “No Tip” on the Automated iPad screen. I wasn’t about to give an automated percentage of an amount that had an artificial surcharge tacked on.

The server gave me a card explaining their policy, which is “in lieu of price increases” on the menu. They claim the surcharge will eventually be done away with. We'll see
