Because we made a deal with the moderate faction in Iran to keep them from pursuing nuclear weapons, verifed by inspections, in return for lifting sanctions. They were abiding by it. Trump broke it arbitrarily and unilaterally because y'all don't like Iran, empowering the rhetoric of the extremist factions. So now we're scrambling to make a new one when we shouldn't have to because it was already done.

The Persian people have a long and glorious history. They didn't poof into existence with the revolution in '79.
