Disagree. The Covid numbers in Florida are not good. That’s a fact but that on its own doesn’t harm him. But when he interjects himself into what should be a local decision by trying to prevent locals from making decisions they deem best to protect themselves, well in my opinion, that’s a major miscalculation.
False. You voted for a man and a system that historically governs that way. Hypocrite much?

It really is incredible that you can see events like lollapalooza, Obama’s birthday and multiple government officials maskless or putting on a mask but just to pose for a picture, only to remove it immediately after and STILL think masks work and are the way to go.
They don't think or believe in masks. It's all about showing power/control.

Florida has 22 million residents and millions visiting during the year. Florida is doing good. Florida has an open economy and jobs are plentiful. You focus all of your attention on a state where thousands are moving to to escape where you live.

Oh by the way, where do you live?
In the land and state of confusion.

NBC is giving advertisers who bought airtime during the Tokyo Olympics extra commercials due to underwhelming ratings for this year’s 2020 Olympic Games, fueled by a pandemic-weary population and backlash against woke athletes protesting the U.S. flag and national anthem.
.....
NBC’s primetime coverage of the Tokyo Olympics on July 26 averaged 14.7 million viewers -- for a 49% drop compared to the equivalent night from the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games and 53% less than the 2012 London Olympics. The opening ceremonies saw their lowest viewership since 1988.

Viewership has lagged behind the Rio coverage by roughly half on numerous nights of this year’s competition.
...........

And woke protests by American athletes condemning the U.S. or national anthem have done little to attract new viewers while alienating Republican spectators, according to Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute in New Jersey. The lingering effects of the coronavirus pandemic have also taken a toll.

Last week, the university published a poll that found a third fewer Americans were interested in watching the games – a whopping 43% of respondents said they had little interest in watching compared to just 16% who had a lot.

Just over half of the Republicans who said they weren’t interested cited the political protests, and the same percentage of Democrats blamed the effects of the pandemic – small crowds and less competition.

And the university also quoted independents as opposing the protests.

"The people we sent over aren’t representing the country," one Maryland man, identified as an independent in his 40s, told the pollsters. "They’re kneeling at the flag."

He wasn’t the only one who felt that way.

"I don’t want to see virtue signaling," a 45-year-old New Jersey woman, also an independent, said. "Be a proud American."

I live in Maryland. Just for the record, several days ago, I said that many leaders were making poor decisions. I mentioned Biden at the border and I mentioned DeSantis in Florida. Those are the two most polarizing leaders arguably. Someone asked me how DeSantis is messing up. I brought up what looks like overreach to me. That being his executive order preventing local governments and schools from making their own decisions on implementing mask mandates per cdc guidelines.

To review:

The border is horrendous in every way imaginable. Migrants with Covid are being allowed in.

DeSantis signed an EO that if any school districts implement mask mandates, they may lose funding. Although cdc guidelines recommend masking in schools. Florida Covid numbers including hospitalizations are up.

Aside from my OPINION that the DeSantis move is an irresponsible miscalculation that will harm him, putting that aside, what part is false?

Warrior said all of it is false
False. I said your fake news about the deaths were false and your general assessment. Plus, you voted for Biden and the border is not the only thing he is screwing up.

You said that “many” leaders are making poor decisions the brought up Desantis who would be pretty far down the list of Poor decision makers when you have guys like Gavin Newsom, Whitmer, Cuomo, Biden, Ralph Northam, whoever the hells in charge of Portland, Minneapolis, Seattle, etc. who would all be far ahead of Desantis. So why didn’t you bring up any of them?

Actually, I learned a lot about the border crisis right here on this board after initially not knowing too much about it. I found the information informative. There is no denying that situation is a complete cluster. I also initially stated I didn’t see how the border would affect me too much because yes, I can be selfish at times but that remains to be seen. None of it is good for Covid and I think Biden is a hypocrite for calling out DeSantis while that is going on. Lastly, I’m not sure concern is the right word. I’m not coming from a place of concern. I’m simply stating that most leaders and even us are hypocrites. We claim to be against something but later be for it if it suits our needs or wants.
False. You haven't really learned anything. Every thing affects us concerning this country. Selfish is a liberal trait which you actually got correct but, you are wrong about hypocrites. Many on here have blasted republican politicians for turning against their base and have said that many times on here to include not voting for them the next time. You lefties can't do that. Your self serving ideology will not allow that.

Perhaps. On its face it would appear so. Has he officially put forth any orders? And it’s not that I am trying to stick up for Biden, I could care less. If he is wrong it costs me nothing to say it.
I would say it could cost you some credibility in posting here but, you had lost that long ago.

I wasn’t making a list nor ranking anyone. Those two I named are the most polarizing and talked about from either side. I only needed to mention them to express what I was trying to convey.

I think it’s hypocritical to be against Governors mandating masks but be okay with a Governor mandating that local governments cannot implement.

Fair. What I would say is had he not signed that EO, most of what you posted would remain true, I disagree with you that he doesn’t base decisions on politics. In fact I think his EO was exactly that. I think there are many people who like DeSantis like yourself and are in that boat and he knows that. But what I am saying is I think that was a mistake. And yes I think it was irresponsible and overreach, which is something conservatives are supposed to oppose but I have long said most of us are hypocrites when it serves our interests. That part is debatable and that’s what we are doing. You asked me what the problem is. May I provide you with a statement from one conservative that touches on this issue? He somewhat share my view so I was hoping that would provide a little more credibility than it coming from me solely or some liberal propaganda piece:

Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., said Sunday face mask mandates should be strictly the domain of local officials — and not governors or the White House.

In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Cassidy pushed back at the stance of Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has issued an executive orderaimed at blocking school boards from requiring students to wear masks.

“I’m a conservative,” said Cassidy, who is also a medical doctor. “You govern best when you govern closest to the people being governed,” he asserted.
And what Desantis is saying is that NOBODY should be governing mask. If you want masks to be governed allow the Parents to govern that their children wear masks. doesn't get any closer than that. Governing what people put on their body that doesn't defy obscenity or lewdness laws is ludicrous.

I do disagree with Statewide mask mandates. I think we are at a point now where you don’t need to do that. Let the locals in discomfit communities make those decisions. I’m the beginning, there was much unknown and so I think it was understandable for leaders to jump the gun or do “too much” but now I think we can get back to some normalcy in terms of how those decisions are made.

I don’t know that the science says that to be honest. I said this before and some here agreed but I am under the impression that if you have people in a room, it’s better if everyone is masked. To what extent that helps, that I don’t know. But I don’t believe it’s accurate to say they don’t do anything. Also, the cdc is recommending it. I get that some don’t believe in the cdc but I believe that’s up to local government to determine if that is a credible resource.
So what if it was left up to the local governments and the Mayor of Polk County Florida says, I forbid the schools in our district to mandate masks be worn or we will withhold county level funding for those schools. You'd be OK with that? Essentially the County doing the same thing the state is?

So if Florida and Californias numbers were virtually identical, but Florida was open and CA not (Floridas are better by the way). What have we proven? What has been proven? Show us the data that lockdowns and mandates out the wazoo helped CA and and have hurt Florida to the point they are worse off? Tell me which state you would have preferred to live in if circumstances had you deciding between those two locales?

SIAP. Good view and probably will get banned soon.

What's amazing is that basically everything he stated was all either cdc guidance or rationale for cdc guidance.

Early on they had a very clear plan, that was actually correct. Flatten the curve was never about prevention. It was about making sure we didn't all get it at once. Avoiding infection was not an option. Then suddenly that morphed into zero covid nonsense.

Vaccines were the same way. Early they released the info that vaccinated people would still be infected, just not get as sick. Then politics got involved and now it's sold as a prevention measure even though the clear number of breakthrough cases are significant. Especially so since many places conveniently no longer test anyone vaccinated.

Early on they had a plan. Wasn't perfect but it was pretty good. Then politics got involved and now we're here where the CDC is nothing more than a mouthpiece for libs and every state board of health is following lockstep, even though they know for a fact these were never developed to eradicate covid.

So what if it was left up to the local governments and the Mayor of Polk County Florida says, I forbid the schools in our district to mandate masks be worn or we will withhold county level funding for those schools. You'd be OK with that? Essentially the County doing the same thing the state is?

I would disagree with that particular decision. However, I think that would be better than a statewide mandate. Communities can vary so much culturally, demographically in one State and even in a County. I think the more local it is then the more power the people in THAT specific affected community has, which I believe is ultimately what most prefer. I actually would prefer such a decision go further down than the county level in some places. Each area may face its own set of circumstances separate and apart from their neighbors. Why not give the discretion they need.

Lol… it was a dude yelling at the mascot named Dinger.

Report confirmed it. Apparently they confirmed with the control room as well, which I'm guessing is why it wasn't dumped.

I'm sure human aids rex will just keep pumping out his stolen videos and fake news, with no repercussions. And Michael eaves (and others) will continue to gleefully yell racism at the drop of a hat

I used to watch a lot of the Olympics. I prefer the winter Olympics mostly though. but I would channel surf for the competitions. I can say this year that I've watched zero minutes of competition. I don't even think I've even seen a single highlight.

Lower than the county level? What would that be, like a precinct?

Let me get this straight. If a precinct says no mask mandate, but the metro area (such as Orlando) says YES mask mandate, the metro would be wrong? So who overrides the City who is overreaching?

Oh yeah.

The governor.

Man, aren't you tired of self-owning???

IMO if you can't follow the Got Dam instructions on the ballot then the ballot shouldn't have counted regardless.
Yes. In-person voting stops this issue because the ballot is rejected by the machine in your presence & you get another ballot to replace the first one which is/should be destroyed.

I mean, am I crazy to ask why the hell this is remotely an issue? Why is this investigated? Why is this a story? Is this even a crime? No, it’s not. 😂 I’m not remotely surprised by how insane the reactions are regarding anything to do with perceived racism or hoaxes but even if it was said, who gives a single shit?

Is it just national news any time someone calls someone a name now?

Occasionally have to ask this again. Why is Duke blu not on ignore by every conservative on this site? Why give this lemming any oxygen at all? I don’t get it.
He's not offensive in his language to me so he can say what he wants imo. Not interested in an echo chamber.

But b/c I oppose TRUMP 2024 & think cocaine is OK, I suppose many here would say I'm not a conservative. I live quite well with that opinion & the labeling that occurs off/on.

I withhold judgment on your craziness part, but yes, WTF is this an issue at all? Who they should be going after is anyone who thought it was an issue.
