Fair. What I would say is had he not signed that EO, most of what you posted would remain true, I disagree with you that he doesn’t base decisions on politics. In fact I think his EO was exactly that. I think there are many people who like DeSantis like yourself and are in that boat and he knows that. But what I am saying is I think that was a mistake. And yes I think it was irresponsible and overreach, which is something conservatives are supposed to oppose but I have long said most of us are hypocrites when it serves our interests. That part is debatable and that’s what we are doing. You asked me what the problem is. May I provide you with a statement from one conservative that touches on this issue? He somewhat share my view so I was hoping that would provide a little more credibility than it coming from me solely or some liberal propaganda piece:

Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., said Sunday face mask mandates should be strictly the domain of local officials — and not governors or the White House.
In an interview on CNN’s
“State of the Union,” Cassidy pushed back at the stance of Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has issued an
executive orderaimed at blocking school boards from requiring students to wear masks.
“I’m a conservative,” said Cassidy, who is also a medical doctor. “You govern best when you govern closest to the people being governed,” he asserted.
