N.O.B.

Missed this post yesterday.

Congrats @Kooky Kats that is a very impressive accomplishment. Almost as impressive as being the fantastical foosball champion of the world. Almost.

Good job on being in first place amongst the losers though. No shame in that.

Early on, life has taught me that in every instance where luck and happenstance can intervene with fate- I will likely be challenged with miserable luck. A karmic imbalance. So, I shrug my shoulders more than most.

However, where I am in complete control over my destiny; be it grades, golf, cooking, designing/drawing...I dominate. It’s where I’m most competitive.

So, when handicapping the Wahldcat season from stem to stern -and dominating the field- I am not surprised.

When Antonio Brown goes down the week of the playoffs - I can only shrug my shoulders and harken back to the time I crushed the “champ” by about 150 points, won the league’s overall point total and know that I am better.

Hal Mumme's tenure at UK is an interesting case study. Aside from the NCAA infractions at the end...most look fondly on that time in Cats football history. Mainly because of the air raid offense and big scores the offense put up. Even when we lost it was...exciting.

But Mumme had a losing record while at UK. He was 20-27, only had one winning season at 7-5, and lost the only two bowl games he took us to over that time frame.

Saw that trying to look up the story where LSU's coach Dinardo made comments about Mumme and his towel and how he was unprofessional or something like that. So when we went down to LSU to play, mumme ate a loaded up hot dog at midfield during the pregame maybe while talking to dinardo, only remember story vaguely

man that KY recruiting class that year of Barker, Elam, and Tubman were highly ranked and highly touted and none contributed in any meaningful manner. might be a controversial take, but I wouldn't spend too many resources recruiting in state talent. Towles sucked, Timmons was serviceable, Hatcher was an idiot, Landon Young still might develop, Kash? who knows. I do love what little Drake Jackson has done though, undersized pit bull at center. could be shitty coaching too though.

I read this on another board yesterday discussing snowblowers.

I live in a town with an over abundance of motorheads with big 4 by 4 pickups. A good many of them wanted to increase their manhood installing big snow blades on them. They think their are getting into the big bucks business. Long story short...I get plowed out at 15 bucks a push. No need to even start the blower.

Dang, good business. I'd get in at least 6 good pushes in the span of less than a minute, so that's like $5400 bucks per hour.

Fully prepared for/completely expecting the Cats to lose at least 2 maybe 3 conference road games and at least 1 at home. And more than one of those losses will be to horrible-to-mediocre teams.

Point is...a loss tonight would neither surprise me nor upset me. Saving my enthusiasm and rage for March/April.

"We beat Memphis twice and a three loss Auburn team by a touchdown...crown us, kneel to the champs you chumps"

not only that, but it was said they are going to pay their coaching staff the built in bonuses in their contracts for winning an actual national championship. the same coaching staff that has now left them to go to Nebraska. Frost is taking most of the staff with him.

*and the fact that UCF had a bonus structure for their coaches for winning a title. I mean I guess most coaches in the P5 have that sort of contract bonus, but Central Florida, lol.

well STOOPS gets bonuses and extensions for winning 7 games and recruiting fairly decent. so guess we can't say much.

It's pretty simple...an 8 team playoff solves everything in college football. Well, it solves everything except how to fill all that dead air on sports radio/tv that is otherwise spent babbling about who gets in/got left out.

Winners of the Big 5 conference championships...plus 3 at large bids. Those last 3 would spots would allow for a team like UCF or the Boise State teams of yore to get their shot at the big boys. Would only add one more week and one more round of games.

Having said that...I am thankful for what is in place now. I was explaining to the kaizerettes the other day how they used to (somewhat arbitrarily) pick the national champ back when I was a kid. And how sometimes the national title was even split between two teams because there was more than one pole. They were shocked. Well, as shocked as a girl can be about anything football related that is.

Then I explained how, not so long ago, they used to end games in ties in college football. My youngest daughter said, "Well that's just dumb. They don't even do that in 2nd Grade Girls basketball or soccer." Exactly.

Amazing how dumb college football used to be about stuff. Makes the 4 team playoff system look golden.

Ohio State lost to Iowa.
Iowa sucks.

In no way, should any committee or system allow that factor to be forgotten. Conference championships mean nothing.

Alabama wasn’t even IN their championship game, but was odds-on favorite to win the BCSNCG.

I just looked at the rankings, even with an 8 team playoff, UCF would have been left out.

I think it would still have been the same result. 4 is enough.

@Kooky Kats I'm not sure I get your point.

Bama would have still gotten one of the 3 at large bids this year in an 8 team playoff system.

8 teams. Big 5 conference champs and then the best 3 at large teams...which would include Big 5 non-conference winners and non-big 5 teams if they are deemed worthy.

In theory, you could actually wind up with 4 SEC teams in an 8 team playoff system.

And I DGAF about UCF. What I am interested in is getting the best 8 teams in a playoffs. Bama was clearly a team worthy of playing for a national title this year. And they will probably beat UGA and win it.

And they damn near got left out...because they lost one game.

FunkMan, I watch the news, so I know you ain't teaching the children today - IT'S 2018 AND TIME FOR THE PEOPLE TO KNOW WHO THE REAL FRIED CHICKEN CHAMP IS!!!!

Would you have felt the same way if they had chosen OSU over Bama this year?

You are correct that OSU sucked. But what if they had beaten Iowa like they should have. Bama would have been odd man out.

I realize that is a hypothetical situation and blah blah blah. But a scenario just like that will eventually happen. Just a matter of time.
