That's bullsht. You would get fired in 2005 for having viewed "nudes" (porn) on a work computer. You could lose your job for asking someone out at work in 2000, if the person simply didn't like or want to date the person asking. You could get fired for calling anyone at your job a certain word if you weren't one of the people allowed to say those words.
The fact is that it only happens with someone in the public eye (and either valuable or marketable) when someone with power and money wants it to happen. It almost never seems to go through proper legal channels as it should.
What sucks is that 20 yrs ago I could tell who was racist, perverse, and bigoted by how they talked openly, avoid those people, and not work with them as clients regardless of race or sexual orientation. Now I cant tell if some are that way and have to work with some regardless of how racist they may be.
In 1999 I could kick a neighbor to the curb, break up with a girl, or fire someone for saying racist/bigoted sht or being a complete perve. Now I have to make sure the person doesn't have political, legal, or monetary juice behind them because they can merely accuse and someone is ruined.
As a friend used to say, "I preferred it when I could see, hear, or read their bigoted thoughts so I could either choose an appropriate response or avoid contact with them altogether."
