Discussion about possible inbound transfer candidates

When he announced the word we got was Texas or USC would be his destination and looking like it's going to be USC. Had another hit portal last night, an OL who wasn't going to see the field and like won't at any P5. so the word we are getting we are now at 86. Bear is a loss, the others are looking for playing time.
Still think your Defense is better this year than last after Bear departure?

The Wyoming kid is actually a Colorado kid. Not sure deion has offered but already seen a YouTube video of some guy telling deion to go bring him home. I'm sure he is gonna get offered a good chunk of NIL money.

Talking to a guy that trained both, he didn't think Bowles could compete with Eli.
Looks like Stoops has a small priority list of positions he is looking for in the portal, with tackle and inside linebacker at the top. Maybe he takes a corner. I wonder how many schollies Stoops himself believes he has in his pocket to work with this month. 3? 4?

Re scholarships, TOS says UK's currently sitting at 82.

Re Davis, maybe but maybe he wants to play in the SEC too. Reading some of his comments he feels he's been overlooked and wants a challenge. We'll see.

If Davis really wanted to play in the SEC, chances are he would have snatched up that opportunity when it was presented. He is shopping around, so he probably is not satisfied with what has been offered to date.

I do, we still return 7 starters, plus a former starter and a former AA are back from injuries. Bear wasn't one of those, he had a big quarter against TCU, who were ready for it to be over. He is a good player and would likely got his 25-30 snaps this fall. That's all our DL play in a game. Whoever gets his snaps will be coached by the best developer of DL in the country. Not concerned with DL play as long as Trey Scott is in town.

Caleb Johnson from Notre Dame and Markavious Brown from Ole Miss are in the transfer portal. Are we interested?

It is easy to forget that Eli was a midseason All American in 2021 as a RG. Maybe you did? Coach Coen was emphatic at times during spring practice about how impressed he was with Eli at RG. Now, that's what I would expect him to say. But I doubt he would blow rose petals at Eli if Eli was practicing poorly. So I can't see a reason to think an inbound transfer can beat Eli out next August. I suspect Coen's interest in Emmanuel Pregnon is directly related to the fact that Pregnon has three seasons of eligibility left. In Pregnon, I think Coen is looking for a 2024 starting OG who can also fill in if a 2023 OG gets hurt.

I didn't forget it. Back then I pointed out how that was clearly undeserved and pointed out the insanity of the award. He's a fine player but nothing close to an all American. He played awful vs uga that year and kept whiffing on Jordan Davis. I get him overpowering you but how can you not block him at all

He was poor last year too. He needs to pick it up big time. So does jager

Caleb Johnson, an OT, was an Auburn commit before flipping to Doamers, also had offers from Bama and Florida, 3 yrs left

In your opinion.

Again, let's recognize that Eli Cox won the starting RG job this spring and Coach Coen has had good things to say about him. I see that you said he is a fine player. I agree with that. Judging a C because Jordan Davis beat him seems like judging a house because a tornado blew it down. Show me a college offensive lineman who hasn't had an off game or missed some blocks. I have seen Eli make some fantastic hustle plays and big blocks. The mark of a good player is steady improvement, a good motor, and outperforming expectations. That's Eli.

And again, you may be a little too judgmental on the freshman Burton. Let's at least see how he plays as a sophomore.

I see that DB Trequon Fegans is leaving AL and entering the transfer portal. UK's coaches recruited him out of Alabaster, AL, for the 2022 class but Fegans stayed instate and signed with Saban instead. IDK if our coaches are talking with him now, but he would be a great addition for our secondary.

Could be interesting. His younger brother is one of the best safeties in the 2025 class too.

Nanny MacFee would have a pretty decent chance to be called the best developer in the country if she had the automatic five star talent Georgia is getting lately. Haha. Not saying Scott is great or Bad, just saying! I do believe Georgia will be just as good this season as last on defense, maybe not as great on offense as last season. Pretty close I’d say though. Going to be a fun season to watch if you’re an SEC FAN no doubt. As for Kentucky, I do believe our defense will be better this season by a pretty good amount and think our offense will be quite a bit better. Looking forward to our all our games of course and hope to compete hard with you guys this season. Going to be hard for anyone to beat you guys this season and the next few as I see it. Best of luck this year Grumpy and let’s hope all our guys stay healthy so they can show what they got. Go Cats.

Forgot about that rule. You’d think that will change as the conference keeps getting bigger.

As I understand it the Feb 1 rule was brought up for debate to remove it this winter. But most coaches were in favor of keeping it. to prevent players from leaving after Spring, and joining conference opponents they will face in the fall.

Georgia's 2nd or 3rd string qb would instantly be the starter at Florida, or Auburn.

Won? You can both win the job and need to step up. They aren't mutually exclusive. He was a disappointment last year. There really is no way around it

Scott's resume speaks for it's self, no one has the number of high draftees he has had since he arrived in Athens. Getting the players is 75% of coaching, at least.

We have a chance to be pretty good this fall, but going 12-0 is tough, especially now when we get everyone's best effort. I will be surprised a little if we do. I think the talent is there,I just think we have an off game against a good team like we did against Missouri

Not the 23 season, maybe 24 season.

In your opinion. I have offered another point of view. If you choose not to consider it, that is your prerogative. But we have kicked this horse enough. Eli Cox's and Jaden Burton's play in 2023 will speak for itself. Let's get back to discussion of the current transfer window.

Agreed and to that end, it's Thursday.....has Courtland Ford made it to campus for his visit? Was mentioned earlier this week he'd be visiting today.

Jeez...of course you do:). SEC games are won by NFL talent difference makers. No where is that more apparent than on the DL. UGA and Bama have been revolving doors for NFL Dline talent and it showed on the field. You just lost who was widely considered your next 1st Road DT. And you think it's just next man up with older guys that have been mediocre and very young players with little experience. good luck with that.

And players coming back from serious injuries are rarely the player they were before injury the following year. so I wouldn't hang your hat on former starters as a huge difference maker. But enjoy the massive Eosw colored glasses

The school can't talk about this. So until Ford himself tweets, or is seen on campus by someone with a computer, or talks to a reporter about this, or commits, we will have to wait. Maybe he will commit. After all, the window only lasts for two weeks.

I realize that, I was hoping some crack, alert KY sports media type would pick up the phone, send a text or email to a contact to see if Ford made his visit. Probably too much to expect.

Pretty sure Jager is a REDSHIRT Sophmore. Big difference, IMO.

I am rooting for this kid at center, but he can't be as inconsistent as he played last year.

Leary won't make it past the Florida game if he does.

That window is to enter. They can take longer to decide
True, but Coach Stoops might offer the scholarship to another OT if Ford procrastinates. Several OTs who are arguably better players than Ford have entered the transfer portal in recent days. Ford can procrasinate as long as he wants, but Stoops will act as soon as the right opportunity presents itself.

He might be one, but if he had stayed he wouldn't have been the next one.

As for as injuries go, he may never get back, wasn't close last year, but this is year 2 and he looked much better, much quicker. If he can't get back someone else will be first DB off the bench.

Are we going to give him a chance? Evidently Coach Coen will. How about let's get back to the thread topic.

Lol.
Of course "we" are going to give him a chance.

Like I said, I am ROOTING for this kid to be successful.

If the O line isn't VASTLY improved this year over last year, it will be another bad year for our QB and the offense in general.

We finished dead last in offense in the SEC this past year and many posters were concerned about the O line before the season started.

Many are still concerned. I am one of them. Hope I am wrong this time.

Not what I read on your boards. Bear was roundly considered the next 1st round DT player on your team.

Based on what would he not have been the next 1st round DT for UGA? Your upper classmen are meh...Stackhouse, Brinson and Logue will get most minutes and surely haven't been difference makers and shown 1st round NFL talent. Williams is a SO and started 2 games. Looks promising but to say definitively he's a 1st rounder over Bear is wishful thinking. And he's not even a DT in NFL. most likely 4-3 DE.
Bear was a 5 star top 10 player out of HS for a reason. you couldnt stop singing his praises when he was your scheduled starter next year. Now hes no big loss becuase of your DLine coach. uh huh... can't wait to see your tune change in the fall when your DLine is just average. You're spoiled over what you've had the last several years
