Calipari hides behind these “kids” he claims to help

Never takes responsibility for a loss, always the kids didn’t do this or that. The young excuse he thinks is his out has worn thin. Now thankfully the majority of UK fans are tired of the excuses.

He is the ultimate con man and a narcissist.
The sooner we move on the sooner we get back to something close to UK basketball. What are we afraid of ? Losing to mid majors? Not winning the SEC? Getting upset in the tournament? lol

Jay wright on UK

Former Villanova coach Jay Wright:

"The era of taking these young freshmen and trying to play against older players is over. I think he did a phenomenal job with these guys all year. You can see, they're playing against grown men. The guys on Kentucky will be far better pros than any of these guys on Oakland or any of these guys in the tournament. But they're not as good college basketball players. At this point in their careers, they're not as disciplined yet as the guys for Oakland. It's not Cal's fault. It's they're 18 years old and they're in this era where everyone is telling them how great they are. Just show up in college and you're going to win. It doesn't happen that way. And the more guys stay in college because of NIL, it's going to be tougher for young teams like this to be successful."

Damn…

Cal’s record in UK history over the last 126 games!

Kentucky head coaches' records in their last 126 games at the school. I don’t even know what to say anymore..

- Rick Pitino: 110-16 (.873)
- Adolph Rupp: 104-22 (.825)
- Joe B. Hall: 92-34 (.730)
- Tubby Smith: 91-35 (.722)
- Eddie Sutton: 87-39 (.690)
- John Calipari: 80-46 (.635)

Gillespie only coached 67 games and was 40-27 (.597). Think about this, my how far we have fallen!

I surrender...Cal has to go

Not interested in discussions about "I've been telling you" etc.
Let's just focus on what is true right now.

I have been a Cal supporter.
It's been difficult lately, but I'm loyal. And I had hopes.
But he lost me last night in the first 5 minutes

Oakland was expecting to get thumped. Intimidated.
By the first TV timeout, we should have had a 10 point lead.

But Nero fiddled while Rome burned
...Cal adjusted our offense to counter their zone (making Tre the answer).
...Instead of speeding up the tempo, he turned our kids into a puddle of half court confusion.
...Let's "beat them in the Paint" (with Tre as quarterback)
...And he left our 3 point shooting Zone Killers on the bench

In my 8 decades as a basketball junkie, I have never witnessed a Coach screw his own team like Cal did.
Time to go Cal. Step off the stage.

Update: back to March 23: Keeping Cal because of the recruiting class is fools gold

A top recruiting class does nothing to guarantee victory in the NCAAT. In fact if you look back to 2016 you will see that the annual kings of the recruiting wars, UK and Duke, have combined for exactly ONE final four and no titles. This year you will only find Texas inside the 2022 top 20 recruiting classes in the E8. And they are doing it with Seniors and a "temporary" coach. Their top Frosh is avg just 11 minutes per game. And lets not even bring up K-ST.

Winning the recruiting wars simply builds Cal's ego and importance to the NBA who will actually develop the players later. It does nothing for our program.

We all know that Cal's system is flawed and broken. He also is a horrible coach. Keeping him because we don't want to lose this class is just going to bring more agony when we are eliminated by a more experienced team with a better coach. Yank off the bandage. End the suffering now.

Am I wrong?

Cal. Let me give you some advice. Use Saban, Belichick, K and Carrol.

It's time to step down and you know it. Use the retirement of Saban, Belichick, K and Pete Carrol as your chance to blame the system for this day. Just say, "I talked to Nick and Bill and Pete this week and we all agree that the system is broken...its time to step away."

Include your name in the conversation with those legends in coaching when the talking heads discus your stepping down. Blame NIL. Blame the portal. Blame the society. Blame the game. Anything to distract from your actual incompetence. You are trying to save your legacy. Tie your name in with those coaches and not tie it to Kenny Paine (the other program you ironically destroyed) or Gillispie or the failures out there.

You know its time to go, so spin this as a win. You are full of crap and perfectly capable of selling it. Negotiate a good deal and GO.

The biggest farce out there, most of these kids have vastly more resources than the typical kid growing up in Kentucky.

Say something positive about Cal.

I don't hate the guy. I'm just sad about the state of the program under Cal.

That being said, I'm really looking forward to the tournament.

So to look at the bright side, I'd like for posters to say one thing positive about Cal.

I'll start.

I can only think of one or two times this year that I've heard him yell "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

Your turn.

What are your emotions today? Are you more sad, surprised, disappointed or angry?

Sad - I'm too angry to be sad
Surprised - I've seen too many of these early flameouts from Calipari teams to be surprised
Disappointed - Nope, because I've come to expect a 1st or 2nd round exit from the tournament
Angry - YES, to see what Barnhart & this fat greasy looking coach of his has done to what used to be the greatest basketball program in the history of college basketball. I'm beyond angry.

Words of how Ugo says hes going to bring the fight too the Golden Grizzlies , and needless to say this didnt age well, they stuffed the ball inside and scored directly on him numerous times . I said it 2-3 months ands no one wanted to listen ( ok a few) but I told you this team was going NO WHERE with Ugo playing 20 a game . Hes a MAC/OVC level PROJECT . And we try to turn him into a 5 on a FF team ripe with 5 star recruits . Its insanity . Beside playing Mitch 31 min and burying Adou this was Cal's worst move last night . The failure to develop Big Z and give him the minutes he needed to get better ultimately burned us . Such a truck load of poor coaching .. how can you decide to start a struggling Mitch , who was NOT coming on , and bench Adou ? It was move to show the bennies he can move the starters around and still not play the best 5 . How many minutes the Nuclear 5 play last night ? Zero ? The three R's with Z and Ado ? None . Such coaching failure . Please Please PLEASE raise the funds to fire him , Save BBN , its barely hanging on

Here’s the cherry on top

Back in the day, Kentucky would take a hard loss to a UAB or Marquette and it would suck but you knew the underclassmen would be back. I used to sit in my bedroom at age 14 and write future years roster out with the recruits I dreamed of having when I read about them in the catspause newspaper. There was hope, I dreamed what Joe Crawford and Randolph Morris would be and how they’d integrate into our program and state. I lived and died with every game

Well today, I’m 33 and it’s not yet 7am, I’m sitting in my living room after a good nights sleep. And I got to thinking what the worst part actually is for me. There are zero roster guarantees next year

Reed, Dilly, Wagner, Edwards all going to be one and dones? Bradshaw and Ugo and Z and Theiro going to transfer?

The only continuity we seem to have is a coach that is clearly incapable of his job and an AD who gives out contract extensions like they’re butterscotch candy.

I miss the days when you could count on these freshmen coming back and getting better and showing some pride in the jersey, wanting to win for not just themselves but the state. It’s all gone now. Just a free agent carousel. I’d rather get 3 and 4 star players that want to be in our program for multiple years. If one breaks out and is a one and done, fine but I’m tired of this. If Cal continues on, I think I’m out folks.

ATTENTION: All of our fans that want Calapari back next year-----------

please meet outside in the phone booth, ( if you can find one that is). I have to apologize to all of our fans that were calling for Calipari to be fired. I disagreed with you before--but not now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am also calling for him to resign. If he has any good feelings about the University of Kentucky, he should tell them that there is no need to buy out his contract. He has made enough money off of us. If he were to do this, I think he would appease most of our fans and be remembered with gratitude and appreciation

John--this is the ONLY way out of this mess that YOU created.
