It’s interesting to see that the line drawn in this thread as to the war appears also drawn for Ukraine’s acceptance into NATO. I understand a pathway to NATO for Ukraine, but prior to Russia’s invasion, that pathway was not imminent. There were presumably reasons for that timetable that made sense to NATO. I suspect it had something to do with the lack of stability and corruption in Ukraine. The claim that Russia’s anticipated invasion should speed up that process seems naive to me, if that is what is being discussed. This is not Sweden or Finland. The war bringing those countries to NATO makes perfect sense. Seems you can want Ukraine to kick Russia’s arse without wanting the NATO admission to change in any manner.

No. Still not. Possibly. The invasion is in progress, not anticipated. True - not China either. OK. Also OK.

I will add that if NATO admission for Ukraine would incentivize a negotiated resolution to the war, I would understand NATO shorting the admission process’s timetable. That seems like a reasonable NATO objective. That would likely mean that Ukraine sacrifices some of its eastern border, as I think that is the only way Russia otherwise withdraws.

But, if Ukraine is on the verge of defeating Russia, as some posts here seem to suggest, I doubt Ukraine sees the value in such compromise.

Any value or not, Ukraine not doing.

Yeah, Ukrainians probably don’t know the history of such imagery. Understandable. I think one of the USFL teams started with a swastika logo before someone with a history book realized it might be a bad idea. They didn’t think the Indian explanation was manageable. Social media made such honest mistakes untenable.

What you quoted is the same ole story by nato. When I say something inching i mean coming closer to admitting it’s role. It’s obvious that the USA at least green lit the operation carried out by the Ukrainian govt. that’s at the very least. Likely they supplied the explosives. This war has become about semantics. Were the divers american? Who supplied the explosives? Who trained the divers?

You see by my logic if you put a loaded gun in someone’s hand and they told you they would act with it then you’re culpable. The US whether with Ukrainian agents or British who knows the USA did this. They control Kyiv. Kyiv went to the US to discuss its operation in high means it’s blessing. At the end of the day we can argue semantics all day but Biden’s words now paired with this revelation (I believe to be half truth) presents clear involvement by the US. Why in two days has the NYT finally showed us the nazi revelations and then the wapo this something is afoot because both outlets are mouthpieces for our intel community. Maybe they want to be able to put Ukraine under its thumb if they are successful or they are getting out in front that if Ukraine is unsuccessful of being thrown under the bus by Kyiv.
