State of 2025 Recruiting

Grumpy,
I find conference realgnment facinating, so I read most articles and watch almost every video, on the subject. FSU will either be in the SEC or the BIG. I fully expect FSU to notify the the ACC that they are leaving the conference before August 15th.

Sorry I just saw this on the 15th. Lots of rumors out there. They could leave, but they still haven't found an escape from giving up the media rights. And in the last couple weeks rumor has leaked out that the Big isn't going to give them an invite, SEC doesn't want them, but the Big 12 is going to take 6 of the ACC teams, CU, FSU, GT and I can't remember the other 3 but I think NC was one of them and give CU and FSU a larger cut of tv revenue. If that happens, I think the SEC would go after one of the NC teams, maybe even NC. It would effectively end the ACC as a P5 conference, Virginia and Duke meet the BIG qualifications academically. I may not be around to see it, but I feel college football is heading to 2 major conferences with 2-4 divisions in each conference just like the NFL model, maybe major league baseball would be a better example with all the teams, 65 or so, in the big conference acting almost like farm teams. The portal opened that can of worms already. The little schools are in a no win situation, they need the big checks for playing the P4 teams, but if they have a good player the P4 teams tries to steal him away.

But back to the FSU deal, last week was the week they were suppose to leave the ACC, yet it passed and there they still sit. A contract lawyer who post on our board said there were 3 things they could prove to get out of contract, only had to prove one, the word wasn't tricked but fooled into signing was one. The contract was worded to make it extremely difficult if not impossible to leave because Maryland had just left, they didn't want to lose another. I am sure every school had contract lawyers go over every detail before signing it

^ I like the subject to, but it has no place on the recruiting thread. Start another thread. Thanks. And don't tell me you're just answering a question. No one forces you to do so on this.

Here is a tip, if what I posted is so bad, even though it broke zero rules, put me on ignore and you won't ever see anything I post on any thread. I replied to a poster in this thread who specifically said something to me, its not like a thread is only allowed a specific number of post. But when I start attacking other posters, UK coaches/staff and or players, jump me about my post, until i do that, find something else to do with your spare time.

Alright since Rembrandt can’t do it, I gotchu. Mikel Skinner has scheduled an unofficial visit for this Friday, July 26. He is a 6’4” 220 tight end prospect from Greer, South Carolina. He is currently committed to Cincy, but Kentucky has been slow playing him since early 2023. That is based on posts of him visiting via social media. Rivals has him listed much smaller and playing WR which is why he is only a 5.5 prospect on here. Other sights have updated his growth spurt and all have him as a top 250 player. Obviously, he is the Brody Lennon backup plan. A good one at that. JROW said that he would put in a future cast based on timing and circumstance. But as we know, recruiting is the least predictable of human behaviors. :)

That's exactly the point, man. Are you posting anything on recruiting? Is this guy? Where are the recruiting voices?
They just came out of a dead period. If there isn’t anything going on what do you post? The only real news is posted right above that Mikel Skinner was visiting Friday. Not much else going on of any significance

UK had a visit today(I guess it was an UV), 7/27, from OL Jayden Clark, a teammate of UK commit Cedric Works at Northmont HS, Clayton, O. Clark's a 3*, is listed at 6'5" 260. Film I saw of him he played RT. On the one hand he has a good first step, uses his hands well, seems to be a good athlete, moves well. On the other hand he's pretty shallow in the britches, REALLY needs a good S&C program, is probably at least 2 years away from being a rotation piece. Offers from WVU, Pitt, Minnie, Purdue type schools. IIRC he was scheduled to visit UK last Spring but didn't show up.

Clark and Skinner visits are news. Marsh and Miller have still not verballed. Not quite right to say nothing going on, but probably no more verbal till the season.

Skinner had just been mentioned. There is nothing new on Marsh or Miller. UK is trailing for both so what is their to post on them. Clark is Blah. All the other SEC schools were having big weekend events and UK was entertaining Skinner and Clark. Not much to get excited about. Lol

Clark is teammates with Works and multiple Big Ten teams want him. He would not visit Kentucky without staff wanting him to. Supposed to visit last month before canceling. Maybe not plan A, but not blah if Wolf wants him.

JR reported a few months back that the staff evaluated him and said they didn’t think he was a SEC caliber lineman. Also Indiana seems to be the only Big 10 school recruiting him, though he does have a Purdue offer. He isn’t a guy that multiple B10 teams are after.

Isn't there an injury of some sort UK wants to see if he's recovered from before they offer Clark?

Purdue is reported also to be recruiting Clark. Clark's situation not so cut and dry. He missed last year with an injury. Not that Clark is not SEC caliber. He missed the camps and combines because he was hurt. We have seen it before. How long to get SEC ready after missing last year? Seems like that could be an issue. He is big and some competitive teams still want him. After Sowells picked the ACC school, Wolf is working his list. If Clark is next up and Kentucky coaches have him in for an official, then I would take him seriously.

Sunday is a good day to do this. If this concerns anyone, my cousin Brian the Rembrant fan will have another operation soon. Brian had some complications last month. He has not been well. Took a toll but he is looking forward to football season. He says Go Cats.

I saw where Stoops is still recruiting Maison Dunn and Dyllon Williams. Our coaches do not give up.

Thanks for the update, sorry to hear of the setback. Sending good thoughts, hope he can return to "recruiting action" soon!

You're right, Stoops is all in, trying to build/sustain a winner. Wish he had more help from the admin.

I have an idea that may speed his recovery.

Tell him that Hack and Grumpy have started a lengthy series of discussions smack dab in the middle of his recruiting thread: discussions revolving around (1) the better fishing lures for shallow-water bass fishing, and (2) the shortfalls of Eisenhower’s Nuclear Non-Proliferation efforts of the 1950’s, and (3) the pros/cons of horsepower gain from mere cubic inches, versus enhanced induction, (nitros and/or turbo/super chargers.).

As most would agree, bass fisherman shopping habits, nuclear weapons and street racing are among the least predictable of human behaviors . . . .

Andrew Marsh is no longer considering UK. Running out of options fast for that 4th WR spot. DJ Miller or bust it seems

I get in enough trouble by myself, I don't need much help from you.

UK's about finished with the '25 class unless someone falls in their lap. 17 committed with offers out at least to WR/TE Skinner, WR Miller and OL Clark. Any or all could commit....or none. Remainder of scholarships would go to portal guys. Attention turning to 2026.

Per KSR Mikel Skinner will officially visit for the South Carolina game which is funny because he is from South Carolina and they just offered.

UK commit Demarcus Gardner's team, Cedartown, Ga, won big Friday night. They are 2-0 both one sided wins and appear to be one of t he better teams outside of the metro area. This little town has produced several P4 players the last few years and has another DB committed to CU this round. Nick Chubb is probably the best known. Talented little area
