State of 2022 Recruiting

Bleedbluekentucky.com. It was a UK football only site started by Aaron Cordero and was online for about 3-4 years. Unfortunately the majority of that time was the Joker era. It was a really good site for football first fans.

The old site is still up and a real time machine for UK Football during the end of Coach Brooks tenure and the beginning of Joker's stint as coach if you want to step into your Delorean!!

Messenger posts on here all the time

just under a different name

No, really? Who?

If that’s true, he has to be Rembrandt…their posts are so similar in style.

As you guys are talking about BBK, it seems vaguely familiar to me as well. I have floated across a lot of forums over the years.

I first started on this site with basketball recruiting when Tubby was recruiting Chuck Hayes, Ty Chandler, etc

Other sites I can remember were KentuckyInk (was it bought by Scout.com at some point?), WildcatFaithful, SeaofBlue (I still venture there occasionally)

I am becoming a little concerned that PA St and ND have made up a lot of ground in Aamil Wagner's recruitment lately.

Still liking UK for Brown and Walker.

man hope UK can get all three
I am not sure we can get all three. But we don't necessarily have to. We really need Brown, and I am still optimistic about him.

It would be fantastic to sign Deone Walker, especially if it means Coach Wolford steers him away from Clinkscale at MI. Walker is a natural NT, but could also be a monster OT.

On September 6, OH St insider Bill Kurelic posted a UK crystal ball pick for Wagner. At the time, I figured that might be the last shoe to drop since Kurelic usually knows these things. But there has been very little news about Wagner in October, other than his visits to PA St and ND which were described as excellent. The final visit often has greater value. I think we might lose Wagner, but that is just a gut feeling. Coach Marrow is a good finisher, so he might get it done yet. Whether or not we sign him, I am confident either way that this will be an excellent OL class for us. Grant Bingham is a very nice prospect, Nik Hall is way underrated compared to his offer sheet and pedigree, and I still think UK will sign Goodwin.

Coach Wolford is still recruiting a couple interesting uncommitted players, and it's even possible (although I wouldn't get my hopes up) Coach Marrow could pull Tshabola away from OH St. There is a rumor about Walker Parks maybe transferring to UK. I don't expect Tshabola or Parks, but it would not be a huge shock. There are still a lot of possibilities from uncommitted hs players and college players in the transfer portal. This staff knows how to recruit.

UK does not need Walker Parks

he probably would not start this yr and def will not start after this yr. who would he replace? Risenthal? WP does not have the tools to play OLT

if the OLs hold together and add A Wagner and G Mason or Morgan or whatever. Who does he play over then?

that just proves that the staff knows how to recruit OL.

at best WP is the #6-7 OL at UK right now

kinda crazy, but it’s true

BTW. I wish WP well.
Hope he spends 15 yrs doing his thing for his favorite team in the league

Rather than Tshabola, I would rather have one of the O$U LBers, or T brooks the Safety

I doubt Walker Parks leaves Clemson. It's just a rumor. But if Coach McPeek asks Coach Stoops to take Parks out of the transfer portal, I feel sure that would get it done. Paul Frederick hs has become a pipeline for Stoops' program. Stoops wouldn't think twice.

I am not smart enough to know how Parks would do at UK, but he is experienced. There are a lot of young linemen on Stoops' roster. But it is good to remember that Kinnard, Fortner, and Dotson will be gone, Rosenthal might be gone too, and the current class hasn't signed yet. Looking ahead, I guess Goodwin and Flax will be next year's starting OTs. But I thought Flax would be starting this year. Then along came Rosenthal. You never know. Practices tell the truth.

Not trying to pile on, but that was WPs man that just had the FF and recovery for the TD

Rock i hope you're right and we get those three you named. That would be an amazing addition to the team and the future would only be more and more exciting. As for Parks, Heck yes we would love to have him here, He has some invaluable experience in some big games and should only get better and better. He wouldn't have to start to make a difference. The guy is still young and would be a fantastic addition in my opinion anyway.. lol Who knows what's on his mind, but as far as some wondering if we could use him is crazy, He would be right at home with his buddy's and no doubt they would all continue to play hard and have fun doing it. Thanks guys and let's go get this win.. Woooo Go Cats..

I also hope we sign all three, of course. All three would do well in Stoops' football program.

Being practical, no school ever signs every player they recruit. Alabama and Georgia can't sign every player they want, so it probably isn't realistic to think UK will.

Addressing these three specifically. I am amazed by the great job Coach Wolford has done recruiting Walker. When Steve Clinkscale left UK, I figured there would be a lull, at least, in Stoops' opportunity to sign players from the state of MI. And since Clinkscale tried to sway Walker to MI, it looked like we would not get him. But Wolford is actually outrecruiting Clinkscale for Walker. It won't be easy to close the deal. But UK is right there with Walker, and I could sure see how Walker would envision early playing time at UK. We have a pretty good shot. Not a sure thing, but Walker recently named UK as his favorite in an interview.

Brown has double digit offers from SEC programs. I don't know which ones are currently committable and which aren't. But Brown has options. UK is a three hour drive from his home, and he knows he would play early in his career. If he believes in Coach Coen, then we have a good shot. It comes down to that.

I don't know to what extent Ahmad Wagner's decision to play football for UK will affect his younger brother's decision. Most people would agree that getting the last official visit is usually an advantage when recruiting uncommitted prospects. ND got Wagner's last visit. Based on his statements, Wagner seems interested in ND and PA St. I can't read his mind. Even with his high upside, Wagner needs development because he has a lanky build. He may have a longer view. If so, that could favor UK. But there has not been much news on Wagner lately, so his recruitment is not predictable. Wagner is unusually athletic. Sure would love to know whether Coach Marrow is strictly recruiting him as an OT, or whether Stoops might see a future DE or TE. Just spitballing there, but Stoops has closed with other highly-ranked players in the past by giving them an opportunity for positional flexibility. Weaver, McCall, and Rogers, for example.

Lots of names have been discussed here on this thread and elsewhere. I find it very interesting that schools are being allowed to recruit additional players this year to replace their super-seniors. That means UK's class could end up larger than we expected. And yet, our current discussions of UK targets are centering on a small number of players. There has to be a lot more going on behind the scenes. Maybe other hs players we haven't been focused on. Maybe some pending transfers. Probably both. Either way, there is bound to be unexpected news around the corner.

You guys know that the Cats typically have a player or 2 out of left field

excited to see who they are this yr

The Cats def need at least 3 difference making LBers for the 22 class in addition to DTs

if you don’t have that figured out, I can’t help you

The main reason a lot of focus has been put on these three is all three have been reported s possible UK leans lately. They are three guys expected to commit in the coming weeks. There are a lot of guys we would like to see UK recruit but these guys we seem to be leading or near the top. Fearby didn't get talked about much because it seemed we were behind. Then he committed. Hopefully there are a few more of those coming

I agree. Fearbry and K. Wade will be developed as edge LBs. Then Stoops probably takes 1-2 more LBs in the class. Jackson, Casey, McDaniel, Weaver, and Wallace will be back. But Anaele has moved to DE and Davis to RB. Knight Goff, Wilkins, and Peters left. UK loses four senior LBs this year and three of them are starters. Although Wallace and Weaver are a great start, the LB roster has to be rebuilt.

Durojaiye might be a DT, but he is a project. If UK signs Deone Walker, he might be a NT or might be an OT. Ox, Rogers, Hayes, and Saunders will be back. But Gibson has been in the dog house for weeks and could leave. AAF and McCall will graduate. We need Walker and maybe another DT if Walker is tabbed for the OL.

With schools being allowed to oversign this year to replace super-seniors, there will be plenty of scholarships.

Was BBK perfect? Nope. We never claimed to be

here is how we all benefit from it now

1. We interviewed dozens of potential recruits all the time. None of the other UK sites did at that time

2. We wrote the article of how Commonwealth was built in the early 1970s at a cost of $5M, and there had been no significant upgrades to that point. I am the one who bought the potted plant and set it in front of the Stadium as it’s most significant upgrade, took the pic and write the article

3. I wrote the Recruiting Room Article. Remember that? Yeah, the #1, UK a$$hat stole it from us and then posted it on his/her site as his work. BTW, she has never done anything for UK football except mock it.

4. What about the article on how much they invest in BBMadness for 3-4 player vs Football at 25 players and about 2/3 of the $$$$. IIRC

5. What about on how much money that football kicks back to UK vs The hoopsters? Yeah, we covered that too!!

6. Sheer number of articles per week? At that time, on a good week especially in the off-season there were 4-5 on some sites, we always had 10 plus per week

I am sure that Rockcat remembers more?

there ya go!!

have at it
