The Cardinals also didn't seem to play with a whole lot of passion in the series. I don't know what it was, but there were few times that I recall them really looking like they were loose and having fun. In the last game there were never any rally caps that I saw or any real shenanigans in the dugout. It was all business, but baseball is something you're more successful at if you're having fun. I don't think that played a huge factor, but it certainly didn't help their cause.
The biggest factor home runs were the biggest factor (duh! lol). Saw a stat in the series that the Cubs scored about 34 percent of their runs off of home runs this past year. Yet, at one point, in the Cards/Cubs series they had scored something like 20 of 25 runs off of home runs. Maybe you attribute that to pitching or maybe you attribute it to the Cubs just getting hot. What I can tell you is that the Cubs hit something like 12 home runs in 19 games during the regular season against the Cardinals. Yet, as we know they hit 6 home runs in one game and 10 total against the Cards. This was also just in 3 games considering that they were shutout in game 1. So, did the Cardinals pitchers just do poorly or did the Cubs just get hot? I guess we will find out more when the ne
