Went with Norse. Love his offensive versatility and he has just enough D with OG, DG, and Beal.

And Gonzo has two Cardinals, which causes me to question his team’s overall character. Just have a feeling they’ll blow it when the going gets tough.

Don’t see it. Just enough defense? How is that? I don’t see any worth much. It’s Jokic and a bunch of dudes.

Dunno. Y’all are more equipped to discuss the NBA. From my view there’s no way Gonzo’s team would lose that one. I’m not sure I actually believe you believe it either.

Which leads me to the next question. Why u Lyin?

No one in the NBA is scared of Monte Morris. I'm not sure why you keep hyping him up. I did the research he averaged 5-2-1 a game in the playoffs! Don't be deceiving people he's a fraud who can't get on the court when it matters.

Terrance Ross hasn't even been in the playoffs yet after 7 seasons......

No one is "scared" of any backup point guard. He's an efficient playmaker who shot 40% from 3 and doesn't turn it over. That's what a backup point guard does.

If we're talking playoffs, Jamal Murray shot 42% from the field and 33% from 3 in the playoffs. So maybe everyone struggles sometimes in really small sample sizes.

How'd Dejounte Murray do? OG Anunoby?
I know Murray was hurt, but even if he doesn't fully recover he'll still be a much better player than Monte Morris. Every round so far people have mentioned how great of a backup he was, and how you got a steal. I just don't see it.

I like how everyone in the NBA has just ignored that Kawhii just missed an entire season with a mystery injury. Came back and played with game restrictions, missed 22 games. Could barely move in the playoffs. Only won because Durant tore his achilles, Klay tore his ACL, Cousins tore his quad and Kevon Looney injured his shoulder. If one of those first 3 injuries doesn't happen we have a different champ.

I agree that he's a great player. But is he really going to be effective for 5 more years?

Lol stop. Or take it to the thread with Joel Embiid.

Are you referring to the Joel Embiid who in his 2nd full season was one shot away from knocking Kawhii's team out?

Discussing Embiid's injuries is a time-honored tradition. But I was drafting 15th. You take Embiid and Russ there if they are available. You picked 2nd. Kawhii makes sense, it's defensible. But everyone is just ignoring his injuries and the massive good fortune he had this post season.

He’s a proven winner with a franchise that has never been to such heights, ever.

Markkanen should be the starter in my opinion. Jokic, Murray, Beal and Markkanen is a great core moving forward. They’ll be a good for a number of years.

I really like Love rebounding ability on the 1st unit. But I do think Markkanen moves into the starting lineup sooner than later.

And you know way too much about the NBA to pretend that Kawhi's health was the only factor in those games played.

Curious as to how the criteria you used in your matchup would apply here. The one with top 20 scorers and rebounders and 2k ratings and all that. I'm sure it matches the way you voted.

I think I've changed my vote 2 or 3 times on this one based on arguments. I think its fair to question Kawhii’s health. But I picked 15th. My top guys are certainly not popular with this crowd.

And hey I’m sure you’re voting for a Towns/Fox combo that couldn’t win a title unless we stretched the timeframe out 8 years or so. And that would be in the regular NBA not this contracted fictional league.

I actually haven't voted yet. I don't think either team would win a title in the next five years. So far you've both just continued to sell me on why the other team won't win.

But we've got people arguing about which team would beat the other if they played, so it's all off the rails I suppose. Democracy!

Also back on the subject of staying consistent. It’s fun year to year watch arguments flip on players. I wouldn’t have touched Embiid even last year, but I’m not getting much pushback on taking him now. You picked Westbrook 1 or 2 overall 2 years ago. But now he’s a team killer.

Agreed I've picked Jokic the last 2-3 drafts and this is the first draft he's getting some respect in. Its crazy how 1 year can make a world of difference on perception.

Just how I know most of my bench players will turn out to be super solid. But it's going to take a year for people to take notice.

Yep, the beard continues to get no respect despite an mvp type season ..
the perspective definitely can change from season to season others are pretty firm regardless of performance

I think he first averaged a triple double the year after I took him and since then has shot about 30% from the field, so I hope my imaginary team won it in year one lol.

I know one year I paired AD with Dame Lillard. I think last year you went young and sold us on KAT as the next transcendent player. I like that we all mostly just let that go year to year and don't dig up old posts or this would be impossible.

Last year I believe we did a All-Time draft. I was trying to go with Olajuwon plus Reggie Miller/Ray Allen.... my mistake was I should have drafted Steph Curry in place of Reggie. I've always struggled with drafting PGs every year we do this. I think there are only 2 or 3 that are worth early picks and they are rarely available when I am drafting.

Which is another fun part about these drafts. I have to reach on some kids like Karl Towns because I'm always drafting 8 - 15th. I wonder what it would be like to build a team around an Anthony Davis/Giannis/Steph Curry.

LOL you will have to ask Gonzo I swear he is in the top 5 every season we've done this.

I do believe it. Year 3-5, Jokic/Murray/Beal would be unstoppable. Unguardable.

Beal is an adequate defender. OG can be a lock down defender. The future of that team is Jokic/Murray/Beal/Markkanen/OG. I think that’s your best team in year 3-5.

Plus, I question the heart and resolve of Ben Simmons, and I can’t help but question the character of any L1C4.

People are already overrating Jokic imo. He’s good but people are moving too fast

Went back and forth, but went with Gonzo. The difference in D between each squad is gaping, and ultimately Kawhi is the best player on the court.

The pieces fit very well, imo. I’m probably not as high on Jokic as some, but he’s legit All Star level at minimum.
There’s too much riding on this for you to F around. You’re gonna blow the entire thing Aike. The board may never recover.

Dang tides have turned was up by 10 now up by 1.... weird how the voting goes.

Wonder what has changed. Gonzo really hasn't made a compelling argument.

His star play Kawhi has a quad injury that requires "load managment" the rest of his career.

His 2nd best player Donovan Mitchell is Kobe-Light and not in a good way. Plus a former Card.

Ben Simmons not only doesn't have a jump shot but he refuses to take one.

My team fits the most perfect in this competition. You can't guard my team without letting a player go off. I have the perfect modern day offense with Jokic, Murray, Beal and two stretch bigs. While have young defensive players coming off the bench to hold my lead or stretch it out.

Take it easy on Kobe or I may have to adjust my vote [laughing]

I challenge @GonzoCat90 to post his starting lineup and bench. I'm just wondering by looking at his team who's going to guard my star player in Jokic?

He sure seems to lack bigs. Please post your lineup sir.

Kobe is my favorite player we are good lol... I was just eluding to Mitchell is a chucker that isn't even close to being good as our boy

I think there should be more focus on the cardinaldom of Mitchell and Trzzzzzz.

I think there is this myth in the NBA right now that you can't win with a superstar big. It literally had taken the two best shooters the NBA has ever seen on the same team to create this myth.

Trust me the game is still ran inside out. Who's a better passing big in the NBA than Jokic? Who compliments already perfectly? That would be Jamal Murray. Now you adding Bradley Beal and Kevin Love and a slashing Ingram for him to pass to?

How does Gonzo plan on stopping my team when his biggest weakness is his Center position? He doesn't have a Steph or Klay Thompson level of shooter to minimize the damage down low.

Click on the players name to watch the highlights from this last season! Might help if it is a player that you aren't sure of or haven't seen play a lot.

Starters

PG - Jamal Murray........6-4, 207lb......22 years old
SG - Bradley Beal.........6-5, 207lb......26 years old
SF - Brandon Ingram....6-9, 190lb......21 years old
PF - Kevin Love............6-10, 251lb....30 years old
C - Nikola Jokic...........7-0, 250lb......23 years old

Bench

PG - Dejounte Murray....6-5, 170lb....21 years old
SG - Danny Green.........6-6, 215lb....31 years old
SF - OG Anunoby..........6-8, 232lb....21 years old
PF - Lauri Markkanen....7-0, 240lb....21 years old
