maybe if it became less profitable to extend credit via credit cards, then people could get back to actually [*gasp*] SAVING for purchases. Instead of continuing to buy things they cannot afford.
You really have to push ideology hard as well.
My wife and I never used our cards to buy anything other than if we paid the balance in full before it was due. I rarely carry cash now but I have sure had to get two of my three children on that bandwagon. It was NOT easy but they finally conform..
My children all make good dough but you cannot accumulate anything without minimizing short-term debt. I think my oldest has the first dollar she ever made, she always stops here eating from my pantry while standing at my pantry trying to hide.(She will not treat herself to foods/ snacks she likes by buying them.).. She only has her house payment and could pay that off but has a 2.75 interest rate on that. She knows every place that has deals or offers a free meal. The funny thing is, she makes nearly three times what I make and I make a good living. The girl is frugal to the weird...
I tapped her shoulder one day while she was scarfing in my pantry and I think she bit the door at some point. 😆
