Like I posted with examples earlier, if it's that infectious it's way beyond flattening the curve already.

Nearly every year a viral infection spreads like wildfire (enter the phrase going viral into pop culture). People go about their lives. Had they not created this intense panic, there wouldn't even be a curve they need to somehow magically flatten.

Forgive me if I trust what I’m seeing and reading from infectious disease experts rather than what I see on a political message board. Not a shot at you personally.

Dude, I hear ya, and respect you lots. Honestly, I believe some of these numbers we see are exaggerated and represent worst case scenarios. Err on the side of caution, so to speak.

My primary reason for stating as much is that USA is a more distributed, less centralized country with a lesser population density.

1,500 COVID-19 deaths by May 10 in USA. That's my prediction.

And when I visit Lex this coming May, you better show your ass up for a beer.

I understand. We're all reading the same things. All by very smart people experts in their field. But if that's infectious it's already too late.

Here's the other and more likely possibility imo: it isn't nearly as infectious as they think. The numbers don't add up. I think there are two reasons:

1) the data we got from Italy and China is just not correct. Then we saw the cruise ship infectious rate and assumed the worst. In reality I can't imagine a worse scenario than a cruise ship for an infectious scenario.

2) the virus was already here. I think this is a near certainty. The first tested confirmation was Jan 21. It was probably here weeks or months prior and people just didn't know what it was.

It’s not about controlling the overall total - it’s about spreading it out over a longer period so that hospitals can deal with it. In Italy they are simply choosing who they can and can’t save at this point. We don’t want that happening here.

I understand that, but that would only be applicable if every person that went the NCAA tournament were all staying in that locale, or all were going to the same place. It’s not as if all 20000 people at a site would be infected, or anyone would be.
This mass cancellation started after the Ohio Governor freaked out. We now know he was getting info from a person that had to walk back the claim of 100000 people in Ohio being infected now.

I think it’s asinine to shut down the country over this. Absolutely take precaution, but this virus has been floating around the country for months already.

This is going on everywhere it seems. I have a friend in Scotland who e-mailed this message to me this morning.

"actually, all ok here, no coronavirus in Dumfries and Galloway Region. However, mass hysteria in the media, some colleges and universities closed? Football/soccer/rugby matches postponed for three months? No rock concerts????
I don't like it, something not right? The media are leading this"

On Christmas Day a guy I work with got sick. He came back to work saying it wasn’t like anything he had before. Constant dry coughing, so much coughing it hurt to do it. Ran a fever, felt like crap for 3-4 days and got better.
My mother in law, whom has underlying lung issues, came back from a cruise the first week of February and was sick, couldn’t breathe and coughing with fever. My wife who is nurse practitioner, made her go to the hospital where they immediately checked her in for 4 days.
Both had the exact symptoms of Coronavirus.

Everyone I know had the exact same thing in December/January. Me included. Was like a cold but a little different. Took me forever to kick it.

I really think that's why it isn't taking off. It's already been here and most people already dealt with it because it was aggravating but mild.

This all makes sense too. I guess the point is none of us really know. Personally I haven't changed my routine (except that there is ****ing NOTHING to watch on TV.)

This president dis-assemble the very team of pandemic experts we are in such great need of now and months ago when it all started.

This president did that because Obama had put these precautions in place and this racist president has tried to erase all things Obama even and mostly at the expense of the American people.

I am convinced if this orange monkey served you one of his fresh orange turds you would smile and ask for whipped cream to top it off.

No, you're convinced that 2008-2016 was the end of history as human society reached utopia under Barack Obama.

That 2016-now is the end of that utopia and end of days generally speaking as Barack Obama is gone, his attempt at bequeathing the first female President failed, and the last remnant of his legacy can barely fight off a stage full of people who are crazier than shithouse rats as he tells stories of people with cartoon names, kids playing with his leg hair, yells at factory workers, gets his wife and sister mixed up, tries to explain his and his son's dealings with Ukraine, tells tales of going to places he's never been and doing things he never did...

CDC has plenty of resources, experts, funding, capabilities. A couple of people leaving, which is more accurate, isn't why we have coronavirus issues.

Globalism gone wild, heavy intermingled relationship with China, outsourcing, millions of people coming into this country from all over the globe, overpopulated urban areas, poor hygiene, and health issues generally speaking as a country that leads to an inability to fight off contagions, etc...is why we have a corona virus problem, why we had an H1N1 problem, ebola problem, sars problem...and at some point in the future will have another world health problem...

What’s the death toll in Italy? 100-200 k?
Seriously has anybody heard?
About 1,450. It is not near the death toll Obama had during the Swine flu. Obama allowed it to get to about 14,000 in America. His policy caused 60,000,000 Americans to get it. And boy was MSNBC and CNN mad at Obama. They were livid with him.

See how that works?

So more regular flu deaths this week in America than CV in Italy? It a good thing we are gonna crash our economy for it.

Liberal: "I hope that Trump's inadequate response to the coronavirus hurts him in the election."

Common Sense: "So, you hope that a lot of people die to spite Trump?"

Liberal: "WHOA, that's not what I said."

Common Sense: "But that's what would have to happen for Trump's actions to be considered unsuccessful or inadequate."

Liberal: "But that's not what I meant."

Common Sense: "But it's what you are saying."

The Russian hoax failed, impeachment failed, so Levi and his ilk would like to see the economy crash. The media is trying their best. America sees through this but the liberals don't, they think they finally have something. Not surprising.

Well that would be idiotic on my part since I have lost a buttload of investment money the last month. You guys have no idea how ignorant you are.

Yeah that story out of Ohio is bizarre

I mean, a million people in a rural midwestern state infected...the global total of cases is 156,000...

China, the epicenter, where a quarter of the world's population is stacked right on top of one another...has 80,000...but Ohio has a million?

At the end of the day, even if this becomes a seasonal flu type of thing it still probably won't affect or kill as many people as OG flu...

After everything runs it's course, it will be interesting to see exactly what the information is as far as the actual disease is concerned as well as why the reaction/panic was what it was...

This thing has been circulating for many months now. I'm almost 100% certain my parents had this in december as well as my 6 year old son. It beat my parents up pretty good, but they got over it in about a week. They are approaching 80 btw. It was barely more than a nuisance to my 6 year old son. I'm fairly certain I currently have it at this time. If true, its not fun, but not the end of the world
