Bolton will not testify if Trump exerts Executive privilege. Doesn’t matter what the Senate wants, the Court will not impede on the President being able to have an inner circle to discuss things.

They’re impeaching Trump because he abused his power to get Ukraine to announce an investigation into his political opponent. No president has ever done something worthy of impeachment like this in their first term, we’re in uncharted waters here. It should be resolved before the election so the electorate can be informed in the voting booth.

Which is exactly why, no matter what Trump or Barr or anyone does, no one of importance will be held responsible for the coupe attempts since Trump won or the spying before. Pam Bondi former Attorney General of Florida gave one of the most powerful presentations to the U.S. Senate of political corruption in the history of our nation. She exposed just how dirty the Joe Biden family is and laid it all out for the world to see. But did the major networks even cover it? That should have been the story of the trial but instead the press is focusing on a leak from the New York Times that is not even an impeachable issue. Whether it be true or just another lie, it is not impeachable. The millions of dollars the Biden family took from Ukraine due to their position of power is the ultimate example of "Swamp". But who cares? Certainly not the media as they report, nothing to see here, just move along.

Under this standard, every president who didn't do what the house wants would be impeached. At least every one with an opposing majority house would be impeached.

Curious. I keep hearing dems saying Trump had Ukraine investigate Biden because he was a political opponent. Could it be Trump wanted him investigated simply because he had acted inappropriately?
Why shouldn't the potus initiate an investigation if he believes there is wrong doing regardless of the wrongdoer's status?
They are investigating Trump because the STILL believe he stole the election from hc. They have been looking for any little thing they can find to give them cause since the election...and this is apparent to voters. So incensed their dismal candidate didn't win the election, they look at every Trump action as a potential, impeachable offense. Why should the Senate call witnesses? If one said he saw Trump go to church on Sunday morning, they'd try to twist it into something wrong. They are completely jaded and obsessed with the man that beat their terrible candidate. The party who is alleging the crime must provide evidence of said crime. The House chose not to call witnesses and impeached the president on party lines. It’s not up to the Senate to now try and drum up some sort of support for the Democrats party line political impeachment.
There are enough republicans in the Senate who would have broke rank if the Democrats could prove a crime. The Democrats know there is no crime, so they’re trying to influence the election rather than follow the proper legal process for obtaining the “evidence” they allege exists.
If the Democrats get their way, every House majority will now be able to impeach an opposing party’s president for any reason whatsoever, and the Senate will be required to take the House accusations at face value and try to drum up evidence. That’s not a precedent we want.
