This is pretty stupid no this is real stupid when you consider just how big the healthcare issue is, how much the right wing tries to kill organized labor, minimum wage, climate change, gun control, a woman's choice about her body, pollution control, consumer protection, taxation, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc .etc.

This could be the next manifesto posted when one of the thread locals follows in kind. These shootings are ideologically driven, and just like we need mainstream Islam to address violent extremist Wahhabism, we need mainstream conservative white men to take an active role in addressing extremist right-wing racial violence. Not a bad analysis. Not everything is motivated by politics. In fact, most of these shooters were pissed off at society because they felt they got dealt a bad hand and they’re off their rocker.
I don’t know how you prevent a crazy person from doing crazy things, but it’s sad we’ve reached a point where shootings have become a tool for media and politicians to gain points/votes.
We could limit the deaths into the hundreds if the maximum speed of a vehicle was 20 mph. That would be very inconvenient though and no one wants to go slow. It'll hurt their motor.
What kind of laws can you make to punish someone who commits suicide? Guns are something they can rally their troops because of knee jerk reaction and feelings.

None of this is true or real or "grounded in reason". The recent discussions in this country around race have been to illuminate the systemic racism inherent in our society and institutions. Surprise but we've been a majority white patriarchy for much of our society's history. So white males are the ones who have to answer for that systemic racism and injustice. Having to share your power with the rest of your fellow humans isn't a logical reason to shoot them.
Those are generational issues, not left/right ones. They're in the left/right spectrum in America because our two party system boils everything down to that dichotomy. Go look at Republican Millennial views on climate change or where universal healthcare falls on the political spectrum in Europe. I'll be waiting.
